De-Stashing and De-Junking – Who Wants It for Cheap?

I am cleaning and organizing my sewing space in a big way. Part of the problem is that I have too much fabric! But wait, how can that be? After nearly 19 years of sewing, I’ve accumulated quite a stash, and frankly, I’m getting tired of much of it.

Update 9/7 – Thanks to all of you for helping me destash. I have now sold out! I shipped 34 boxes of stash in one day. That was very cleansing! Don’t worry, I’m sure I’ll need to do it again in another 20 years. :-)

Christa’s De-Stash

I’ve already given bunch of it away as a blog prize, donated some to friends and charity, and I still have too much.

So I’ve decided to box up as much of it as I can and offer some Mystery Stash Boxes to anyone who’s interested. These will be available for sale in my store for a limited time for just $39.95 per flate rate box-full (free shipping to the US).  I’ll probably start with at least a dozen boxes and add more if need be.

Update: I just sold through the first batch in about 30 minutes so I put together a new batch for you guys! Thanks for helping me out!!

Goodies and Notions Galore

I just may sneak a wip, notion, book, or pattern in there as I’m cleaning out. I have a bunch of colorful threads I don’t need anymore so I may throw a few spools into the pile, too. Once, I get de-junking, there’s no stopping me!

Quilt Magazines

I still have quite a few of these!

I’m not organizing the fabrics in any way or sorting by color, so please don’t ask. :-) But I will cram in as much fabric and supplies as can fit in a box, and believe me, that’s quite a lot! The retail value can certainly be $100 or more! It’s all new fabric, premium cotton (maybe a few flannels). Most of it has already been prewashed.

It’s time to let go of some of these!

So hopefully my trash unwanted fabrics, threads, notions, etc. will be another person’s treasure! And yes, I’m happy to ship to you anywhere in the world. To buy my mystery stash, click here. Each box of fabric and supplies will be unique.

These may or may not be in your box!

To answer the question of why? Simply put – because I want it gone NOW! I’d rather let it go cheap than take the time to organize and list each individual piece on ebay or etsy. So take advantage of my laziness and stock up while you can. :-)

Hopefully, I’ll have some beautiful sewing room “after” pictures to share soon! (Sorry, but I just can’t bear to share the “before’s”!

So impressed with this idea as I am also in the midst of a complete re-do in my basement studio, thanks to a leaking heater tank, and leaky foundation walls. I may just have to copy your lead if you don’t mind? What great thinking! I will link back if I manage to work it out!

I am new to quilting and haven’t even started my first quilt yet. I am cutting one out now and hope to have it done soon. I never heard of a de-stash before but I am extremely happy to be on the receiving end of one of your packages! I am building my stash and let me tell you I love all the fabric, fat quarters, thread and books I received in my box!!! I am totally overwhelmed by the amount of fabric and notions you were able to fit in one box. When I grow up I want to be just like you! :-). Thank you so much….

Good luck, I’m in the process of moving and my husband would kill me. He did ask me why I was so excited about getting somebody else’s scraps one time, LOL

Hi Christa, if you think it crazy that someone in Australia is buying your stash it is because I am making more and more gift ( charity) quilts and hope this will add variety to my stash. Pity US mail went up so much as I am not buying as much as I used to buy. Maia

    Hi christa,
I wish i could afford to buy some of your wonderful fabric and such, but with an income of less than four hundred dollars monthly for disability, buying fabric is not an option. I would use it to make charity quilts. That is all i make. I hand piece and hand quilt and donate them. I love your website and blog. Blessings, Barbara babscorbitt@ gmail dot com

Sew glad you are on the way to solving your stash problem! Wish I could help out, but I dont need any more random fabrics … I have plenty of stuff I’ve collected that I still need to use! I wanted to let you know that I really enjoy your blog and look forward to each installment! Thanks for being out there. :^)

Wow! That’s the best response I’ve ever seen to a blog post. I sold like 10 of them in 5 minutes! This is going to be quicker and easier than I though! Thanks! Enjoy your goodies :-)
