Christa’s Year of Weekly Giveaways #36 – Kwik Klip for Basting (2 Winners)

A few weeks ago I shared a review of one of my favorite new to me tools – a Kwik Klip used for closing safety pins while basting. This tool has been around for nearly as long as I’ve been quilting, but I finally starting using one when I basted my Modern Trees quilt . You can read more about how to use it here.

I lOVE my Kwik Klip! Apparently my toddler loves it too, because I need to hide it from him often. He thinks it’s a drumstick….and now the wood is cracking. I will need a new one. But having more than one is great, because I recently asked a friend to help me baste a large quilt. It went so much faster with two people, and I wish I’d had more than one Kwik Klip so she could use it too. She’d never seen one before.

    Hi Christa,
I’m a new subscriber to your blogs because I found your “Sea of Squares” and fall in love with that quilt. I’ve always prefer using Spray basting method till few days ago I’ve been forced to try “pin basting” and finally realized why people using “pin basting” because it is makes quilt more secure (that is my new believe now).

I would love to have this Kwik Klip tool to help me with pin basting for all my future quilts. By the way, the quilt (blanket) I made was using fleece top and flannel backing and it was without binding (which you sew 3 layers together and flipped it inside out), that’s why I can’t use “basting spray”.

    Thank you.

There is no favourite!! Basting is my least favourite part of making a quilt. I even prefer trimming HSTs and that is saying something! I do choose to pin baste though. If only there was a basting fairy…

most often i pin baste…but i do relish sending a quilt out and not dealing with it at all!!
im getting ready to hand quilt a quilt and thought that thread basting might be the way to go though…thanks for another giveaway
