Christa’s Year of Weekly Giveaways #47 – Magazine Time!

I can’t believe there are just a few more weeks until I am finished with my year of weekly giveaways. It’s been such a fun event to sponsor and I’ve enjoyed reading everyone’s comments to my weekly questions. So let’s get right to it!

This week it’s time to give away a few of the latest and greatest quilting magazines. I love reading a variety of titles and then passing them on to friends, family members and other quilters after I’ve finished them.

Some of My Favorite Magazines

Today I have a 4 pack of magazines to give away to one lucky reader. It includes American Patchwork and Quilting, Modern Quilts Unlimited, Love Patchwork and Quilting, and Quilter’s Newsletter.

To enter, leave a comment below telling me what’s your favorite thing to read in a magazine. For example, do you prefer to read the articles, look at the pictures for inspiration, or find fresh new patterns to try?

Giveaway is open through next Wednesday at Noon Pacific Time. The winner will be announced the following day on my blog (and via email). Good luck and as always, thanks for your comments. I read them all, even if I don’t get a chance to reply. :-)

Last Week’s Winner

Congratulations to Cherry who won a bolt of Riley Blake Basics!

i like the pictures, I have a tough time coming up with ideas on my own, but I find that someone elses ideas helps lead me to my own ‘version’. I also like the tips. I took a break from quilting to raise our two daughters and so much has changed in products and techniques in the twenty plus years.

  2. Julie in WA says:

I always like to read articles about quilt shops, with lots of pictures, of course. It is such fun to read how owners get into the business. And all the pictures of quilts inspire me with lots of ideas!

  3. Alesha Klein says:

Thank you for sharing. I love to find inspiration in the quilts featured. Favorite thing is the tips and new tools. I’m fairly new to quilting but love to make quilts for family and friends.

  10. Marguerite Namdar says:

I love to look at all the beautiful quilts and pick out the ones I would love to make. I don’t think I’ll live long enough to make everything I want, but I’d love to try. I got started quilting by buying quilt magazines and books and read them over and over for several years before I had enough courage to try it. By the time I tried it, I was so comfortable with the quilt lingo, it really wasn’t that difficult. Love to look at quilts.

  11. Lisa E says:

I like to read about what’s the latest and greatest — both gadgets and fabrics. I also love new patterns and new techniques. Quilts magazines are definitely a source of inspiration.

  12. Jennifer says:

I love seeing how new fabrics are used in a quilt. It’s difficult to see how a fabric line can be used when they’re on the bolt.

  13. wondersoo says:

I really like to look at the pictures. Sometimes I read for more information but. I have dyslexia so sometimes my eyes don’t co-operate.

  14. Anne Marie says:

At first I look at the fabric and the patterns, then I dive into to articles to learn new stuff.

  15. Dawn F says:

  18. Mania says:

Yet still I am learning sewing quilts and quilting .. So first check the new stock new designs, fabrics and techniques … I am interested in quilting motifs.Thanks.

  19. Alice says:

I eventually read all of a quilt magazine, but I start with the patterns they offer. I have fabric for 6 quilts for special people plus lots of stash. I have not chosen patterns for all of them yet, just purchased materials that caught my eye for the tastes of those I will be making quilts for. I recently have had a hard time finding John Deere fabric and look for it everywhere. I also like the tips I find in magazines. As a newbie to quilting, I can use all the help I can find.

  20. Jansie Martin says:

I love seeing the new tips and techniques sections. I always learn something new. Thanks for an awesome giveaway!

  21. Sandy Sparks says:

When I get my hands on a quilting magazine, I am a cover-to-cover girl. Being very visual, I love looking at the pictures, but trying new patterns and getting inspired rank right on up there. Thanks for the opportunity to check out a couple of magazines I’m not familiar with.

  22. MoeWest says:

I read quilting magazines from cover to cover. I’m looking for new project ideas ( as if my list wasn’t already way too long), techniques that I can learn from, new tools, links to websites, and fabric inspiration. I like to see quilting motifs too.

  23. Maeve says:

While I flip through a magazine and usually read all the articles that appeal to me, I love to view the quilts to see the patterns used and the color combinations. I enjoy seeing close-ups of the details also. I love landscape and art quilts in particular, but I’m crazy about the modern quilts also. Not so much the traditional old-fashioned quilts and fabrics – too drab for my personal taste. I love lots of color. A magazine featuring very colorful quilts and fabrics always gets my attention.

  24. Kristi says:

Actually, I like reading quilting magazines to do all three — read the articles, look for inspiration and new patterns. Thanks for your year of giveaways!

  25. Kristine Hanko says:

I like to find new patterns and I always get inspired.

  26. Sandy Melton says:

Can always welcome new ideas and love seeing colorful quilts and articles. Wish me luck and thanks!

  27. Judy Allen says:

I read magazines to get ideas for designs and color combinations. I save the magazines and look at them again as my stash grows (by itself overnight!),

  28. I love to read everything in the magazine; it is my “time out”. Also, the magazines inspire me to look for the new fabric & choose my best-loved “new” pattern to srart.

  29. Jennifer says:

I really like tutorials… photos really make a diy pop… a good article is nice too but i always go tutorials first! i love learning new methods!

I like finding inspiration in new patterns and color choices in the magazines.
