It has been such a busy summer that I’ve been having a hard time sharing the latest and greatest. I was gone most of July plus a week in June & August. It was a whirlwind of activity which I’ll share more about soon, but in the meantime, I’m excited to announce that my Quilt Block accessory is now in stock!! These are like guardrails for your quilt that keep it from falling off the edge of your sewing table.
The good news is that they will fit onto any sewing table or cabinet with an edge to clamp onto that’s less than 3/4″ of an inch thick. When I first debuted my table & quilt blocks at a trade show earlier this year, I didn’t realize what a huge response I’d get to them. I was excited to design my cabinet for machine quilters, but the blocks where even MORE popular due to their versatility.
To test drive my cabinet & quilt blocks, you can head to your nearest Arrow dealer. If you don’t have one nearby, you can also order it directly from me.
I love that so many of you have ordered these and are already using them in your sewing rooms. They make a huge difference when managing the bulk of your quilt.
Now that I’m back home for a few months until travel begins again in the fall, I was able to sit down and order some more sewing furniture on order from Arrow to complete my studio. One that arrives, I’ll be excited to give you an updated tour of my sewing room.
So sit tight and be on the lookout for more updates of what I’m currently working on!!
The first video below gives a virtual trunk show of all 9 quilts in the book. I’ve made the same 3 quilts 3 different ways with 3 different quilting plans for each one. Dive into machine quilting by first quilting a simple walking foot quilting plan that’s waaay more exciting than just stitch in the ditch.
Once you are comfortable, try some easy edge to edge free-motion designs. Then level up your skills by applying both walking foot AND free-motion techniques to create a custom quilting plan that’s unique to each quilt you make!

Take your quilting to the next level by learning how to make a quilting plan and break down the process, step by step. Click the image below to watch my short video with some behind the scenes footage of me quilting 2 of the quilts in the book. You can apply these techniques to ANY quilt in your UFO pile!
I also included a bonus section on basting, plus several of my tried and true techniques for piecing your quilt so that’s it’s flat and square. A nice, flat quilt is sooooo much easier to push through your machine!
Learn how to prep your quilt top, baste your quilt, AND make a quilting plan in my new book! Remember, I’m here to cheer you on every step of the way. If you already have my book and are learning my tips and techniques, let me know – I’d love to see your progress!!
Fun news to share for my friends in the Seattle, WA area: I just booked a last minute event at Quality Sewing – an amazing sewing machine shop with 11 locations!! I’ll be chatting, signing books and answering your questions in addition to providing loads of tips and techniques to improve your machine quilting skills! Click the image below to watch our short announcement about it:
I met Reva from Quality Sewing recently at BERNINA University. When she found out I’d be visiting family in the Seattle Area, she invited me to present a lecture and trunk show at their flagship shop. My event will take place at their Tukwila location on Thursday, August 4 from 10-1.
I’ll be in the area for about a week – so if you live nearby, please leave me a comment and let me know what I need to see while I’m there. I can’t wait!!
When I arrived home earlier this week after a few days away, I returned to a huge stack of boxes that I was eager to open. I’m really impressed with how they were shipped: a box within a box to protect them. (The last time I ordered books from my previous publisher several were damaged and needed to be replaced.)
Needless to say, I’m going to have my hands full signing and shipping these babies out to you! If you already pre-ordered, be on the lookout for your shipping notice. If you haven’t yet ordered, click here to get your signed copy of How Do I Quilt It.
All orders through the end of July will ship with a free bonus pattern that I choose for you. It’s my way of saying thanks for your support!!

When my Christa Cabinet debuted earlier this year, I had no idea how popular it would be! So many folks were in the same situation as me, needing the perfect sewing table for domestic machine quilting. Now I’m excited to announce that my Quilt Blocks – the accessory that keeps your quilt from falling off the sides – will start shipping at the end of July. Click the video below to learn more about the cabinet AND the blocks, and catch up with my quilty chat for the week!
The quilt blocks are like guardrails for your quilt! They will attach to any table with a thickness under 3/4″ that has an edge to clamp on to. They come in sets of 2 and can be placed around the edges of your sewing table to keep the quilt from falling off the sides while you quilt.
Have you reserved your signed copy of my new book, How Do I Quilt It? It will be here in just a couple of weeks and I can’t wait! The book goes in-depth teaching you how to prepare the quilt, make a quilting plan, and choose successful quilting motifs. In the meantime, I’m sharing short videos and details pics showing how I quilted one of the quilts 3 different ways. Click below to watch:
I’m working hard behind the scenes on my newest fabric and pattern release for later this fall. To make room for the new arrivals, I’m hosting a pattern sale!! Get any of these $5 patterns below for just $5 each, while supplies last. These are full color, printed booklets.
Terrace Tiles is the absolute easiest quilt pattern I’ve designed. It’s made completely from fat quarters, including the binding, and it comes in 3 sizes: Crib, Throw and Full. It looks great in any color scheme and is perfect for showing off your favorite fabrics.
You can also grab the optional quilt kits shown above in Breeze or Citron, and the pattern includes 3 different machine quilting designs to try. It’s my go-to design when I’m in a hurry and need to make a quilt fast!
I’m pleasantly surprised with how popular my Interlinked quilt has been. I originally offered the pattern in PDF only but there was a lot of demand for a print version instead so I was happy to offer those as well. It’s probably my most modern quilt I’ve ever made and it looks great when done in colors, too!
I’ve long since sold out of the original fabrics used to make it, but I have a few Interlinked kits left in similar colors: shades of gray on a white background or black. It goes together very quickly, too!
Positive Direction is one of the few remaining patterns that I made from fabrics other than mine. The secret is color placement and I love the modern patriotic vibe. It includes machine quilting suggestions (like all of my patterns do), and it’s on my list to remake in my own fabrics once I have enough colors to make it scrappy and fun!
Infrastructure was a fun collaboration between my amazingly talented designer friend Heather Black and myself. Heather designed the pattern to show off one of my fabric collections. Then I wrote the pattern and made the quilt. I call it my modern row-by-row quilt. It’s great for fussy cutting interesting designs from your favorite prints!
Bling Quilt Pattern
I originally made Bling from fat quarters with a single background fabric (shown above). But when I recently released my Black, White & Bright fabric collection, I remade it using a the Hashtags layout with scrappy backgrounds instead (see below). Isn’t it fun to see how fabric placement can make such a huge change?
I hope you enjoyed viewing these quilts. They are so fun to make and I want to make the quilting process fast, fun and accessible to all. So feel free to leave a comment with any questions about these quilts and patterns. And be sure to share pics of your makes and tag me on social media #christaquilts.
My new book, How Do I Quilt It? will release on July 25th and I couldn’t be more thrilled. I’m now taking orders for signed copies, and everyone who preorders will get some bonus freebies!! So click the video below to see all of the quilts in the book along with some quilting tips and tricks!
I have a secret to share with you a little later this year… I’ve written another book!! But before I tell you all about it, I want to encourage you to pick up my previous books if you haven’t yet. My most recent book, 99 Machine Quilting Designs is a great reference book when you are stumped for an idea. Click the video below for a quick peek at some of the designs you can quilt!
I only have a few copies left of my first book, Machine Quilting with Style and they are on sale! It was such a joy to write this book and all of the opportunities that have come since. In case you missed it, you can see a virtual trunk show all of the projects in the book. Just click the video below.
