Just popping in with a fun giveaway this week! I’m excited to be the featured designer in December for Cotton Cuts, a fun business that offers all sorts of fun quilty subscription boxes. As part of this fun feature they are giving me a Modern Maker box that I get to give away to one of you (located in the US).

All you have to do to enter is leave me a comment letting me know which fabrics you prefer to work with: yardage or precuts. I’ll select a winner at random this Wednesday and notify them via email.
Thanks for reading and playing along!
I usually use yardage. However am learning that a FQ variety can go a loooong way. By the way, Love your posts.
My last comment was in error! I prefer 1 yard and 1/2 yard cuts to quilt with followed by layer cake precuts.
I prefer modern, civil war and 30’s fabric to quilt with.
When it comes to piecing blocks, I prefer precuts to yardage because it’s easier for me to handle. But then, I prefer yardage when it comes to borders…less seams! Thanks for the giveaway!
Interesting question and I am going with precuts for the majority of my quilt projects. Jelly rolls are a fav.
I like yardage. I sometimes use precuts for small projects, like a table runner. You can always cut yardage into strips and squares.
I don’t mind using either.. however yardage is usually more accurate in cut sizes. so for specific projects i generally use yardage.
Hello: Pretty fabric. You are so talented. I like precuts so I can make quilts fast for friends. Thank you!
I like precuts but I tend to buy yardage as it is cheaper and you do need the yardage for the sashings and borders so yardage is the best. Thx.
I like fat quarters. I can get a lot of variety and cut to the sizes needed for a project
I prefer the flexibility of yardage, although I do buy precuts sometimes if a collection really catches my eye.
I like them all! If I had to pick just one I think yardage which can be cut into precut sizes depending on the project.
I prefer yardage. Many precut patterns do not use the entire piece and the cutoffs usually aren’t usable
I love 10″ squares, so precuts for me.
Thank you!!
I, once upon a time, had a Cotton Cuts quilt I made. I loved getting all their precut parts to the quilt – at first. But then, it didn’t so much excite me each month because I really like doing my own thing. My own thing works best with yardage, although sometimes it begins with a precut or fat quarter or anything smaller. I can’t say I like one more than the other.
i love working with cotton, as a newbie quilter I have only used yardage.
I might just need coffee, but I don’t know if my comment worked or not. Jeesh! I like all the fabric, please don’t make me choose.
I like the variety of precuts-but like the ability to “expand” the pattern with yardage!
I have been changing my mind back and forth lately. I can’t decide. I think I just love all the fabric.
I like the variety of precuts- but I like to “expand” the pattern with yardage!
I’d like the precuts because they are quicker and easier to work with. Thank you for considering me.
I enjoy using pre cuts for more modern quilts. However for traditional blocks and symmetry, I prefer yardage.
I prefer yardage to precuts.
Because I am a scrappy quilter both yardage and precuts work for me. I love your inspiration to quilters of all levels.
Precuts are quick and fun. Thank you for the fun giveaway!
LOVE Cotton Cuts. Currently working on FIVE of their PMQ’s! I love working with any fabric – yardage and pre-cut.
Thank you for providing a fun giveaway!
If I have to choose one, I would choose yardage. But I love to pick up a FQ of an adorable print, and I make lots of scrappy quilts!
I love the precuts, quicker to make a quilt. Saying that I love yardage, and my stach conferms that. Thank you .
I love to use precuts for most of my sewing.
I love fabric! Love yardage! Love precuts!

I don’t have a preference, fabric is as beautiful and soft in both ways.
I use precuts for the majority of my quilts
I mostly use yardage, but sometimes precuts are the way to go. I also will cut my scraps into precuts.
I love precuts – I am a beginner quilter so precuts make the process a little easier for me.
I probably prefer yardage, but I do like projects that use up some of my precuts! So handy to use!
Precuts are always fun!

I am more of a yardage girl, but I love a good precut too!

PRecuts are my favorite!
I rarely purchase precuts, and then only fat quarters. Most of my projects are scrappy, so if I buy anything it is usually a 12″ piece that I can subcut into long strips as well as small squares, rectangles, etc.
I prefer yardage-more versatility for piecing for how I like to quilt. The only exception is fat quarters!
I prefer pre-cuts because of how the fabrics already coordinate.
I used to be a pre cut kinda gal but now I’m on team yardage ever since I had to use a different red in one of my quilts for lack of fabric… it’s an eye sore…
My favorite nowadays is pre-cuts! Especially 2 1/2” strips because they are so precise! As I’m getting older and although I do love to cut-up fabric, the precuts have multiple advantages like less wasted fabric as well. Yardage is necessary but pre-cuts rule for piecing your project! Let’s create;)
I most often work with yardage and do my own cutting. But I have used precut and enjoy the selections.
I usually prefer yardage as I like to starch then cut. Precuts shrink when starched changing their dimensions.
That’s a hard decision…as I like both. I believe for many projects precuts help to make the quilt faster. Therefore, I prefer precuts!
Interesting question. I’m in charge of donations for my Guild. We are a small group. Last year I put together 144 kits and quilted them all. I found a combination of precuts and yardage works. Jelly rolls, charm packs and 3 yd quilts are among my favorites.
Had to think a moment on this one…. Most of my projects start with precuts. However, yardage is an intrical part of every quilting project. From sashing to borders, then to all important backing, we must have yardage! And those scraps of yardage then become precuts for other projects!
