Christa’s Year of Weekly Giveways #38 – Thread Destashing (2 Winners)

I love machine quilting and collecting lots of different colors, weights and fibers of threads. Recently I’ve decided to stock up on Aurifil as my go-to thread of choice so that means two lucky winners will get to help me destash my threads!

First up I will give one winner a bunch of spools of Superior cotton thread in a variety of colors. These are all 50 weight, 2 ply cotton which are great for piecing as well as machine quilting. I’ll even throw in the rest of my prewound cotton bobbins (since they don’t fit my new Bernina’s larger bobbin case).

20131225_threadThe other giveaway selection is also from Superior and it’s a stack of 40 weight tri-lobal polyester threads. (It won’t be quite as many as shown below – but however many I can fit in a flat rate envelope!)

These are great for machine quilting when you really want your quilting to shine! I just have too much, so I must reduce my stash (yeah and it’s really then just an excuse to go buy more, LOL!)

Thread

This week’s question to answer is simple. Which threads would you prefer to win? The cotton or the poly? I’ll divide the answers into two categories and choose one winner at random for each. (Unfortunately, due to shipping constraints, I’ll have to choose US winners this time.)

Leave your answer below by Wednesday, January 1st at noon. I’ll select two winners at random and will email them directly. (I’ll also announce their names on my blog during next week’s giveaway.)

Good luck and here’s to a great new year!

Last Week’s Winner:

Congratulations to Jacklyn G. who won a Joel Dewberry Bungalow bundle. For those that didn’t win, there are still a few bundles left on clearance, so stock up while you can!

I think I would prefer the polyester because I love to do machine embroidery and the shine on this thread would make the embroideries pop.

What a very nice giveaway !! I want to make some small quilted hand warmers that will have to be microwavable. So the cotton would be wonderful.

Wow, such a nice way to de-stash. I am planning a lot of piecing for January, so if you pick me I would love the cotton. Thank you.

My first choice would be the poly Superior thread. I do a lot of machine embroidery as well as quilting so I’d be able to utilize that thread for both.

I would love to win (be it the poly or be it the cotton ). I make rescue quilts for children who are in trauma. I never seem to have enough bright fabrics or bright threads. No matter who wins, you were so sweet wanting to share your threads with the greater community of quilters. Happy New Year!

I have a new machine and I am trying out different kinds of threads for quilting to see what works for my machine. I would love to try the cotton. Thanks for the giveaway.

I admire you sticking to your destashing. I start but never finish because I find a project midstream that I want to make NOW. HA HA. I prefer poly thread to sew with. I guilt with various thread depending on the project’s need. Thanks for the chance at the giveaway/

I would love the cotton for piecing and applique. I love the bobbins to applique and for any other take with hand stitching project.

Thanks for the give away. I would love the cotton thread. I have been using the Superior thread and love how it just melts into my fabric whether piecing, quilting or appliqueing.

Merry Christmas and I know what you mean about the aurifil threads, pure heavin to work with.
As for which thread, I’d prefer the cotton winning if that lucky but have been known to use any in my projects depending on what flavor it needs.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

I would love to win the cotton threads! I have never tried Superior threads before, so that will be a new acquaintance.
Happy New Year from a Norwegian quilter currently living in the US.
