I love machine quilting and collecting lots of different colors, weights and fibers of threads. Recently I’ve decided to stock up on Aurifil as my go-to thread of choice so that means two lucky winners will get to help me destash my threads!
First up I will give one winner a bunch of spools of Superior cotton thread in a variety of colors. These are all 50 weight, 2 ply cotton which are great for piecing as well as machine quilting. I’ll even throw in the rest of my prewound cotton bobbins (since they don’t fit my new Bernina’s larger bobbin case).
The other giveaway selection is also from Superior and it’s a stack of 40 weight tri-lobal polyester threads. (It won’t be quite as many as shown below – but however many I can fit in a flat rate envelope!)
These are great for machine quilting when you really want your quilting to shine! I just have too much, so I must reduce my stash (yeah and it’s really then just an excuse to go buy more, LOL!)
This week’s question to answer is simple. Which threads would you prefer to win? The cotton or the poly? I’ll divide the answers into two categories and choose one winner at random for each. (Unfortunately, due to shipping constraints, I’ll have to choose US winners this time.)
Leave your answer below by Wednesday, January 1st at noon. I’ll select two winners at random and will email them directly. (I’ll also announce their names on my blog during next week’s giveaway.)
Good luck and here’s to a great new year!
Last Week’s Winner:
Congratulations to Jacklyn G. who won a Joel Dewberry Bungalow bundle. For those that didn’t win, there are still a few bundles left on clearance, so stock up while you can!

The cotton, I love reading your blog. Hope you had a great Christmas with your family.
I would be happy with either one. Thread is the one thing, as a new quilter, I haven’t stocked up. I like poly but have been told to use cotton for quilting. Thank you for the chance.
Just discovered your blog recently and am loving it. I prefer cotton thread.
I’d use the cotton; I like using it since I use all cotton batting in my quilts.
Poly for me please.
HELLO, I’d choose cotton.
I would love the Cotton—I hate winding bobbins!!!!
I would love to win the cotton!
Thanks for the chance, Jessica

Cotton for me!
I would like the cotton thread. Enjoy your post.
You are the Giveaway Elf! Please throw me in the cotton thread bunch!
I’d prefer the cotton. Thanks so much for the chance!
Poly thread please.
Thanks!
I would love to win the Superior cotton thread. I love using the Aurifil thread too… the 50 weight is perfect for piecing and there is a ton of it on one spool.
I’d love to win the cotton thread!
I use both and I’m not sure that I really have a preference. I like the durability and smoothness of the new polyester threads.
I use tons of poly! it would be amazing to win it! Thank you!
I would use either, but you can put me in the poly group because I don’t have a lot of that yet.
I love Superior cotton threads. Thank you for another awesome giveaway!
I would love the poly. Thanks for the chance!
What a nice way to de-stash…I prefer poly. Thanks for the giveaway.
Either would be great, but please add me to the cotton bucket.
I would love the cotton i do lots of applique and the superior is great!
Nice giveaway! I love Superior’s cotton but since I have a lot I think I will go for the poly. Thanks for the chance.
I would love to try the poly. Thanks.
Thanks for a great give-away!! I would like to try the cotton thread.
Have a great day.
Either really, I use both…..But put me in the Poly category.. I have some non quilt things to sew…
I honestly would use either…. but I think I would like the cotton a little better… but goodness know I would use either… .thanks
Glad to see how much you like Superior threads; they are my go-to choice for whatever sewing I do. Please enter me in to the cotton category. Thanks again for another great giveaway. Win or lose, it’s a lot of fun to finish off the year this way.
I love when people destash! I would love the cotton since my machine just loves them!
Thank you!
I would love to win the cotton threads.
I usually use cotton but would love to try poly. Thanks
So generous of you to pass on your excess. I am a naughty appliqué fan who uses polyester or cotton thread because it is the color I go for, type is secondary . I know cotton is the norm, so pop me in that group please .
I would DEFINITELY love the poly!!!! Love Superior threads!!!!!!!!
I’d love to win the cotton thread – thanks. Happy holidays.
I would love to have the cotton. I have lots of poly because I also do machine embroidery.
I would choose the cotton thread. Thanks for the colorful giveaway!
Since I do a lot of machine embroidery, I’d like the poly.
I think I would have to go with the cotton! Thanks for the chance to win.
The poly is my preferred FMQ thread. My pfaff machine likes to misbehave with a plethora of broken threads when I quilt with cotton. I would happily piece with cotton, though, so I couldn’t go wrong with either. If I must pick, poly it is. Christa, thank you for the give-away. May your holidays continue to be bright. (I hope this isn’t a duplicate post. I had a wireless hiccough as I wrote)
I love using both but prefer the sheen of poly thread
I only use the polyester thread, would love to win your giveaway, thanks!
I am new to FMQ and never tried the poly… so I would choose the poly because if I win it means that is the universe that wants me to start FMQ with the poly 😉 Thanks for the chance to win!
My pfaff seems to do much better with poly thread. The cotton seems to break something fierce when I FMQ. Certainly, I do my share of piecing, so I could make use of cotton threads, too, but my preference is poly. Christa, thank you for this destashing
Well, Im an “old timer”, so cotton thread is an old friend!
Either one would be wonderful – I use both in different projects. Thanks so much!
Wow, the cotton thread is my choice. This is fun! Thank you & Happy New Year!
I am a new quilter, so not sure which I would like but I will say cotton. I have just started searching the internet for quilting ideas and have found it amazing how many quilters are out there. It is so Great! Thank you for this opportunity to learn.
I feel like poly thread doesn’t do as well in my machine — it’s harder for me to get the tension right. So I would definitely go for the cotton thread!
The cotton would be my choice.
