Christa’s Year of Weekly Giveways #38 – Thread Destashing (2 Winners)

I love machine quilting and collecting lots of different colors, weights and fibers of threads. Recently I’ve decided to stock up on Aurifil as my go-to thread of choice so that means two lucky winners will get to help me destash my threads!

First up I will give one winner a bunch of spools of Superior cotton thread in a variety of colors. These are all 50 weight, 2 ply cotton which are great for piecing as well as machine quilting. I’ll even throw in the rest of my prewound cotton bobbins (since they don’t fit my new Bernina’s larger bobbin case).

20131225_threadThe other giveaway selection is also from Superior and it’s a stack of 40 weight tri-lobal polyester threads. (It won’t be quite as many as shown below – but however many I can fit in a flat rate envelope!)

These are great for machine quilting when you really want your quilting to shine! I just have too much, so I must reduce my stash (yeah and it’s really then just an excuse to go buy more, LOL!)

Thread

This week’s question to answer is simple. Which threads would you prefer to win? The cotton or the poly? I’ll divide the answers into two categories and choose one winner at random for each. (Unfortunately, due to shipping constraints, I’ll have to choose US winners this time.)

Leave your answer below by Wednesday, January 1st at noon. I’ll select two winners at random and will email them directly. (I’ll also announce their names on my blog during next week’s giveaway.)

Good luck and here’s to a great new year!

Last Week’s Winner:

Congratulations to Jacklyn G. who won a Joel Dewberry Bungalow bundle. For those that didn’t win, there are still a few bundles left on clearance, so stock up while you can!

I’m not really a purist as I mix threads up when I need a certain color, but I guess I prefer cotton. Thanks for the chance to win.

Awesome giveaway and love the chance to help you destash, hehe. I’d love to win the cotton threads. Love the prewound bobbins for my applique projects, easy to carry around. Hope you had a wonderful Christmas!

Thank you for a super giveaway and a chance to win.

I would love to win the cotton thread. I have a project I want to do soon and it requires all cotton materials and threads, so these threads would be perfect! Thanks for the chance at a great prize!

Oh my goodness, either of these would be awesome, but if forced to choose I think I’d go with the Poly because they seem to run smoother in my machine. Thanks Christa!

I would love to win polyester thread. Once I accidentally bought polyester thread and used it for garment sewing. It is very sturdy. Did not try for quilting though.
Love pre-wound bobbins any time of year. Thanks for the opportunity.

I have always used cottons, but maybe it’s time to give the polys a try – something new for 2014. kathleendotlutzatcomcastdotnet

I think I would say the Poly only because I haven’t used them before but have been wanting to try. Thanks for the chance

Hope you had a wonderful Christmas!! I didn’t get any sewing items for Christmas 😦 so, could really use some cotton thread!! Thanks for a wonderful giveaway! Happy New Year 🙂

I prefer cotton thread when quilting… Because then everything shrinks evenly in the quilt since I generally only use cotton fabrics.

I would be tickled with either, but if pressed, would prefer the cotton as I do not only a lot of piecing but make doll clothes too, so matching colors is a good thing. Thank you Crista, regardless whether I win anything, or not.

I use both. My real preference for my machine is cotton! It always gives me good results. I have preferred the Superior threads for some time now. They give great customer service. Thread therapy with Dr Bob is excellant.

Cotton ones would be great! I am just starting to quilt and need good quality threads.
I would be thrilled with either set though, I just love shiny threads lol

What a generous give-away. Both collections are wonderful, but I guess I would have to go with the cotton threads. They are what I use most. And, I do like Superior threads. Thanks

I actually would be happy with either set, as long as I can piece with them I am good! If you want me to say one or the other, I will say the spools of polyester…Thanks!

I wish you had an either or pile. I sew with both cotton and polyester and find them both satisfactory. I do love to have a variety of colors to sew with, if I have to choose, put me in the polyester pile. Thanks so much and I hope you had a wonderful Christmas.
