I’m pleased to announce that through the combined efforts of hundreds of bloggers, the site mentioned below has been shut down. Hip, hip hooray! Hopefully this is a permanent fix to this awful infringement problem!

Now, you guys know I’m all about sharing with others. In fact, I often share some of my content with other bloggers, or on other pattern sites when they have asked my permission to do so.
However it has come to my attention that the website QuiltPatternsPro.com has stolen a large chunk of my blog content and reposted it on their site as their own. And I’m not the only one. They have also stolen content from many bloggers out there that you know.
We are starting to band together to get the word out. Here’s how you can help. Go to their site by typing it into google. I’m certainly not going to provide a link here. Then search your name or blog title into their search box and see if you come up.
If you do find that your blog content has been stolen, please go here and read the section about “copyright claims” and report it to godaddy.com. Hopefully with enough reports, we can get this problem taken care of!

As stated at the top of this page, this problem has been swiftly taken care of and the website has been shut down. Hopefully the same company will not just set up shop on another server. But if they do, we will keep a watchful eye out!!

This GREAT news, I have been following this through several of the blogs I follow. I am so happy “that other place” has been shut down, and pray they don’t just start up a new site.

I clicked on the link, and I also did a search. An error popped up and nothing found, so hopefully they took it all down.
On my Bloglovin feed, several other bloggers commented that they found theirs stolen and complained. Maybe it took just a few voices!
Unless you happen to stumble across it…how do you know if your work has been copied?
This news is very encouraging. I wonder though, how a person can be on top of this situation effectively. Thank you for keep us in the loop.
It’s hard to stay on top of things like this other than taking quick action once we knew about it. I’m so thankful to all the other bloggers who helped get the word out quick!
I don’t know how Christa found out, but you can set up a Google Alert so you get an email anytime a certain phrase is posted. Doesn’t work all the time but does work some of the time. I have a few set for relatives I want to follow….

There’s really no way to know unless you “stumble” upon it like you mentioned. It’s amazing though how the news spread like wildfire in blogland and on instagram. That’s what helped get it shut down so fast, thanks goodness!!
You can set up Google alerts, google yourself, your blog name, and blog titles/phases.
This kind of thing has happened in the genealogy world multiple times over the years. A company would set up a sort of shell … so that when you did a search on their search engine, data from OTHER SITES (free sites) would show up in a window on their site. So it looked like they were providing all sorts of genealogical material and THEY WERE CHARGING FOR IT. One of the sites was charging customers $50/year for a subscription to what was actually FREE DATA that anyone could access on-line elsewhere. Since I post a ton of genealogy info. on the internet for the websites that I run, some of “my” data had actually been used …. and countless individuals had fallen for the scan. We don’t see so many of those sites anymore, but for a few years it seemed like two new ones were popping up for every one that got shut down.
A few ruin it for all. I don’t have a blog, but I sure love yours. Is there anything I can do to support you and the other bloggers I follow? Should I go to GoDaddy anyway and file a complaint?
I am a teacher. Was. For 30 years. Sadly, I ran into this stealing and passing it off as your own work several times in that professional environment. I deeply believe in sharing, and in helping, as that is what keeps the momentum going, and often leads to further inspiration both on the part of the share-er as well as the share-ee! In contrast, when I was ripped off, I felt so much rage that I was hesitant to share as openly…with anyone 😦 However, if someone used my work, but gave credit (as I always did when using others’ work) I was very happy, and continued to share. I hope we all remember to give credit where credit is due. I know if I win anything with your Modern Trees quilt in my guild show, it will definitely give credit to you for the pattern! Now to get AT that quilt…
Wow, congrats on getting fast action Christa! It has got to be a good feeling that so many people have got your back when it comes to sharing your great content. I hope this experience doesn’t change your generosity. I really enjoy your blog.

Just goes to show that it’s a good thing to Google yourself or your blog occasionally! I found them, but was slow to do anything since all this techno stuff is not my forte. I am so glad that other bloggers were able to take action quickly. By the time I followed up just minutes after getting your post, they were closed!
I’ve just tried going to the site and I CAN*T! There’s an Internal Server Error. I wonder if the giant has been knocked down? Thanks so much for all you do and share, and for bringing this to our attention.
The site in question may be gone but you can be sure this is not the last you will see of this problem. Scraper sites are becoming more and more common so it remains important to stay vigilent and keep a good eye out for these popping up. From browsing the one in question yesterday it appers it started off as a normal blog that probably went inactive and then was taken over by – probably in early 2012 from looking at the posts. That means it may have gone unnoticed for around two years.

Great job getting them shut down so quickly. You know, honesty counts in this world. My friends and I are really careful not to copy or share patterns without permission. That is taking money right out of a designer’s pocket.
