Quilting With Friends and Joining a Modern Guild

I finally did it! I joined my local modern guild – The Las Vegas Modern Quilt Guild. When I went to my first meeting last week, I knew right away that these were my “peeps!”

Cola and Regina with LVMQG Banner

Is this a fantastic banner or what? The president, Cola, had it printed from Spoonflower. Now the next step is to quilt it.

These gals have it all – show and tell, retreats, swaps, etc. They even had a challenge using Bonnie and Camille fabric where Camille herself came to judge. How cool is that?

After meeting so many great bloggers at QuiltCon, it is nice to know I can find more fun friends that also share my interests right here at home. 🙂

What a great group that looks like. It’s small enough to really bond with each other – and avoid LONG business meetings!

I wish that my area had a Modern Quilt Guild. I tried the ‘regular’ quilt guild and I didn’t find it welcoming or a good fit for me. Being such a small town though I think those same gals would consider themselves modern quilters as well and join that guild as well. :S

What a coincidence! I just joined Orange County Modern Quilt Guild (in California) last week too! I’m really really looking forward to expanding my experience since I’ve gradually been leaning toward contemporary quilting lately…

I didn’t know you lived in Vegas. So fun. I just live in Cedar City, 2 1/2 hours north. Does Camille live in the area?? That is so excited that you got to meet her 🙂 Looks like an amazing group of ladies to get to sew with 🙂

This has been on my list for month’s now, I really want to join this group. I have had conflicts with the dates, but I will make it top priority for the next mtg. It will be nice to meet you!

How exciting to have Camille as a judge! I understand that the Las Vegas MQG is going to participate in a Mugrug Swap with my Fort Worth MQG later this spring. 🙂
