  • Giveaway is open to everyone near and far
  • Winner will be chosen at random next Wednesday, February 19th at Noon PST

I am going to be making two baby quilts boy/ girl versions for my church to give to two girls expecting their first babies and these layer cake would be perfect for this project.

Thank you, I would incorporate the “snow” fabric into the Christmas quilt I have in my UFO’s. Maybe use a few for various labels. Good luck everyone!

Layer cakes can become wonderful 2.5 inch squares, part of my granny squares or the solids are wonderful for making pinwheels with a print or another solid.

To tell you the truth I have never used a layer cake. Have looked and looked at them, but never actually bought one. Would love the chance to start. Thanks!

I have never sewn with a layer cake before. But as making an appliquéd dresden plate is on my wish list, that is what I would use this layer cake for. it would be perfect for the background pieces!

Christa…..I am wanting to make my late husbands Granddaughter a quilt and thought I would make it out of layer cakes. I have the oranges, but I do need the whites. The pattern is one I saw online, I think it is called disappearing Pinwheel. Thank you in advance for giving one of us a chance to win this layer cake. You “ROCK”!

I saw a pattern for using a layer cake square with a charm square in the middle. I have some charm squares just waiting for a layer cake!

I’ve used layer cakes for lots of things! Mostly I cut them into other shapes though. If I leave them in their original shape I will applique or embroider on them. It’s a very useful cut of fabric. 🙂

I love to look at them. So neat, especially with those pinked edges all neatly lined up. But I also like using them for quilts. Anything to reduce the amount of time spent cutting!

I have been trying to get to the quilt store for this layer cake to use in disappearing pinwheels. So it will be just the right thing. Thank you for all your great give a ways.

I use layer cakes for a frame it up pattern I have. It is a great way to show off larger prints or prints that you just love a bunch! If I win this, though, it will go with my 30s repros and be used for a 6″ block sampler I am doing. 🙂

That’s the best color for backgrounds! It fits in with any kind of fabric, from batiks to Civil War, and I love it. Thanks or the chance to win. As for what I do with them, it varies. Sometimes I use it like any other fabric and cut pieces, and sometimes I use it as a shortcut to a fast quilt.

I have seen several patterns that use layer cakes and a specialty ruler(?) that you cut the cake up and rearrange pieces and sew it back together. Old age is definitely sinking here as I can’t seem to remember ruler name or pattern name.

I would use it to make a chevron quilt. I have made one using patterned fabric and really liked it. I think it would look great in a solid. I liked the one you did in solids. Thanks for the give away.

I find layer cakes very versatile. So many shapes can be cut from them such as charms, mini charms, and 2 1/2″ strips. My favourite pattern for a layer cake is Double Slice which goes together really quick. Snow Bella Solids is a favorite of mine. Thanks for offering this giveaway.

This would be my first layer cake. I think I would use the pieces in a chevron modern quilt I want to make, coral and navy for the other colors. Any leftovers would be great for small embroideries.

I would use the layer cakes to embroider Christmas ornaments and to embroider labels for the quilts I make. Thanks for offering this giveaway.

I’ve been looking at the Bh&g quiltalong and I’m thinking this layer cake would be great for the crossed ( burgoyne surrounded )parts of the quilt. I love solids as of late.

I’ve actually never used a layer cake before, but if I won this one, I would embroider blocks for a baby quilt for the grandson that we are expecting in June.
