Christa’s Giveaway – Win a Copy of EQ7 for the Mac (or PC)

I knew it wouldn’t be long before I was able to offer another fabulous giveaway! This one is sponsored by my friends (really they are!) over at Electric Quilt. To celebrate the release of EQ7 for the Mac, they’ve generously decided to give away a copy to one of you – whoo hoo!

20140425_eq7_mac

Don’t worry, this giveaway is actually open to everyone – if the winner is a PC owner, you can select the original version instead of the Mac version. No need to go buy a brand new computer just to run the software on (though that’s exactly what I did, LOL)! And if you prefer to have a downloadable version rather than a physical copy, that’s available, too!

Because I’m an existing EQ7 user, I only needed to get the migration kit to switch from a PC to a Mac. However, for those of you Mac users who have been patiently waiting for the stand-alone Mac version to be released, the time is now!

Here’s how to enter:

Just leave a comment below telling me if you’ve ever designed your own quilt before. Or if not, what you’d love to design if you could. This will be a short giveaway timerame, running through Monday, May 5th at 6PM Pacific time. I’ll email the winner and make an announcement on my blog next Tuesday, May 6th.

Good luck!

I have designed quilts in the past, whatever could be done with graph paper. For the last six months I have been looking at EQ7 and dreaming of the different quilts I could make. I would design applique quilts with lots of flowers, landscape quilts, something with a mandala in the middle, and a large paper foundation star or mariners compass. But most importantly, I would design wall hanging size quilts for my mother. She sees a lot of patterns that she likes, that only come in bed size, and she doesn’t want to make quilts that big. Thank you for offering this opportunity.

I have designed small quilts using graph paper, but never a large quilt. Thank you for the opportunity to win.

I would love to be able to see what my quilt will actually look like BEFORE I cut up all the fabric so that I’d have the option to change some fabric choices. Let the creating begin!!!

I have designed my own small valentine wall hanging – it was a “design-as-you-go” project! lol I’ve always thought it would be way cool to be able to design on EQ. Thanks for a chance to win this software.

I’ve never designed a quilt, but I have a lot of ideas and just don’t know how to actually lay them out. This might be a great tool! Crossing my fingers!

I have attempted to design but I just don’t have the drawing ability to really make something happen on a bigger scale. I would really love to win this. I feel I am ready to take the next step in quilt making.

I have only designed a couple of quilt using very basic blocks. I would love to try coming up with some using more complicated ones. Super excited about the Mac version. The only down side to owning a Mac is that most of the sewing programs do not have a Mac version.

Although I have been quiting for 30+ years, I never designed a quilt before last year. I joined the South Bay ARea Quilt Guild and they inspired me to draw outside the lines. The rest is history. I have a hard time finding patterns for my fabrics, so the cure is to design it myself. I love this and hope to continue for a long time. EQ7 would really help me with drawing and trying out different patterns. It would be a WONDERUL artist’s tool on my way to being free with my quilts!

I guess I have if doodling on graph paper counts. Recently though, I’ve bummed some designs off of a friend who is an owner of EQ7. I am pretty sure she’ll be happy if I were to win..haha!

I have tried on paper but did not get very far. I would love to experience designing with EQ7. I have a Mac and have been waiting for this version.
I was talking to a fellow quilter on a bus headed to Paducah who designs quilts with EQ. Sounds like fun.

I have not created my own quilt before. I am becoming more confident in my ability to try it though. I would like to play with using a variety of traditional blocks to come up with even more unique quilts. Thanks for giving us a chance to win!

I have never purposely designed a quilt, but have modified an existing pattern. I have been scared to use EQ7 until now! I love learning new things and I know they even have classes were I live for getting the most out of EQ! I would love to be able to put in different colors and combine different blocks…I guess the sky is the limit with this. What do you like the best about EQ? Thanks for the opportunity to win!

I have designed quilt covers, but mainly around a panel, and usually only do basic pin wheels and easy squares or triangles. They do not always fit, ( OK they hardly ever fit), so I have to put in a random pattern and pretend that was how I had planned it. I enjoy reading your articles Christa, and congratulations, you always sound so happy now.

I’m so excited the Mac version is finally available! I have asked friends to do my hand sketched designs on their EQ7 for me. I can’t wait to have my own.

Can you imagine all the fun we will have?! I’m a MAC girl and have been waiting FOREVER for this to become available! Thanks for the chance and thanks to The EQ Co for making this mac girl so happy!

I can’t wait to own this!!! I’ve never designed a whole quilt, but I usually don’t make it just like the example. EQ7 will open up a whole new world for me! Ahhh! I hope I win! 🙂

Being an EQ6 user, I often use it to modify existing patterns, to see how it all looks, print templates and estimate yardage. Although I do also create my own designs.

Since I use a Mac, I have never played with a computer quilting program and have been looking forward to trying it out… so pick me! Pick me!

I have designed my own quilt – on graph paper- and sweated all the math for fabric requirements. I keep looking at EQ and would love to win a copy! Thank you for the giveaway.

I have designed BOM quilts for my local guild on my old PC. Now I have a new Mac and would love to win EQ for it. I hope I win to save $189.

Although I do a lot of drawing I have never designed my own quilt. The only problem is I can never put the drawing together to make quilt so “EQ7” will be absolutely perfect software to finish the final product.

I have “designed” a few….if graph paper, a calculator and colored pencils counts 🙂 I am a new MAC person and have never used EQ. I would love to try it out! I seem to have less and less time-I hope EQ would be helpful in speeding up the process.

I would love to be able to design my own quilts again. I had EQ5 and upgraded to EQ6 and then I gave up since no classes were available and I needed help. I’m hoping EQ7 is much easier and since I’ve had a Mac for the last 6 years I’d love to get started with a newer version.

I have been drawing graph paper designs since I was a teenager and am now in my 50’s! I just finished my first large quilt (large to me 67″ x 67″) from my own design! I am an unemployed graphic artist and design on one of my two imacs at home! The EQ 7 for mac software would be extremely beneficial in turning 100’s of graph paper designs into quilt patterns! My designs are pretty intricate and the software would make the process of transferring the designs to the software so much easier! Thank you for this opportunity! Best of luck to everyone! 🙂

I have designed my own quilts using graph paper and I have a few more on my list to work out. Especially want to use EQ7 for applique designs on a quilt.

I’ve designed a few very basic quilts, and I usually add my own touches to patterns I use, but I would love to do some serious design work, and EQ7 would be just the thing to get me started!

You have the best giveaways, Christa! I’ve designed one quilt top, and it was for the Riley Blake MQG challenge. I’ve “designed” some quilt backs with graph paper and pencils, because I like to piece the backings. This software is still on my wish list!

Oh, would I love the have a copy of this for my PC, I haven’t been quilting very long but I have desighed a couple of my quilts so far and it would be so much easier. I bought a second hand program for my compute but it was outdated and couldn’t use it. Now with a chance at getting one that will work I would be designing left and right. Thanks for the opportunity to enter to win something so great.
