Christa’s Giveaway – Win a Copy of EQ7 for the Mac (or PC)

I knew it wouldn’t be long before I was able to offer another fabulous giveaway! This one is sponsored by my friends (really they are!) over at Electric Quilt. To celebrate the release of EQ7 for the Mac, they’ve generously decided to give away a copy to one of you – whoo hoo!

20140425_eq7_mac

Don’t worry, this giveaway is actually open to everyone – if the winner is a PC owner, you can select the original version instead of the Mac version. No need to go buy a brand new computer just to run the software on (though that’s exactly what I did, LOL)! And if you prefer to have a downloadable version rather than a physical copy, that’s available, too!

Because I’m an existing EQ7 user, I only needed to get the migration kit to switch from a PC to a Mac. However, for those of you Mac users who have been patiently waiting for the stand-alone Mac version to be released, the time is now!

Here’s how to enter:

Just leave a comment below telling me if you’ve ever designed your own quilt before. Or if not, what you’d love to design if you could. This will be a short giveaway timerame, running through Monday, May 5th at 6PM Pacific time. I’ll email the winner and make an announcement on my blog next Tuesday, May 6th.

Good luck!

I have been an EQ user for a looong time (just checked my cupboard, EQ4 and EQ6), but didn’t upgrade due to the cost. I would love to see what EQ 7 can do!

I am SO tired of using graph paper, and I really haven’t been able to afford this before. I would love it.

I have never designed before but lately love paper piecing and have been thinking of venturing into a new project! Thanks so much!

I’ve designed a few quilts using graph paper or using Microsoft products. I’ve been eagerly waiting the Mac version of EQ7 & I’m now dropping lots of hints about what I might like for Mother’s Day :-p

I have designed my own quilt before, several times, using graph paper. Thank for the opportunity to upgrade my skill!

I have played with graph paper and colored pencils on a small scale but have never had the opportunity to really “design” something. What a thrill this would be. Thanks for this wonderful giveaway. kathleendotlutzatcomcastdotnet

I’ve never designed a quilt on the computer or paper. I did do a large central house block with a garden and add a few borders, it finished at around 60 x 60. A lot of trial and error but no real plan. I would love to be able to see it in my head and be able to make it without all the math. I use an iPad so I don’t even know if it’s available or compatible (no disc drive), I know little about computers. What a wonderful chance to win thanks for the opportunity. Toni Anne ;->

Such a great give away. Maybe I could keep some erasers on my pencils. 🙂 I design wall hangings, doll quilts and full size quilts all the time but with pencil and paper. This is awesome.

I have designed things from scratch and also made modifications to other people’s patterns. I love being able to make a quilt my own! It would be great to have all the capabilities of EQ7.

I’ve never designed a quilt of my own, however, I think fabric choice makes it your own. Having EQ would certainly give me a push in the right direction. Just got a smartphone and I’ve mastered that!

What a wonderful giveaway! I’ve sketched out quilt designs on paper before when I wanted to modify a pattern I was following. This month I’m working on a HST quilt with Amy Butler fabric so have been sketching different patterns then laying them out to see which works best with the colors.

Wow – what an awesome give away! I have designed a quilt. It is an oversized king sized quilt, made in 9 inch squares that are sewn together in a diagonal pattern. I then hand quilted it in a whole cloth pattern. It was a lot of work. Thanks!

It would be so wonderful to be able to design without a cat sitting on the graph paper! And in color no less! I, too, am a Mac gal and have been waiting so patiently. Thanks and I so enjoy your blog.

I’ve never designed a quilt but I’ve been paying a lot of attention when I see medallion quilts lately. I think that’s where I might start.

I hear it’s fabulous for creating paper pieced patterns…I’ve never designed before but a copy of EQ would surely push me over the edge into the design world…so much easier than paper and pencil! Thanks for the chance.

I’ve designed my own quilts with graph paper. I’m sure this program would make more efficient use of my time and expand my opportunities to be creative.

I’ve designed some blocks to use on a small scale and I’ve gone crazy trying to place various shaped blocks in many t-shirt quilts! This program would solve any of my little issues and more! Thanks for a chance to win!

I would love to use this. I have designed one quilt, but it was a little hit and miss. Still happy with it, but to do it properly would be fantastic!

WOW what a great give away…I very rarely use a pattern and would love to move to this program from sketching on paper, i have read so many wonderful things about this program…Thank you!!

I have designed lots of quilts – but initially I sort of made some blocks and just put them together, adding blocks or squares/rectangles to fill in the blanks. It has change quite a bit since then – I tend to get the idea and then draw and calculate it – then refer to my various tables as to how much fabric I would need. I rarely make a quilt which is the same block times ? any more and it tends to be my own style – not necessarily modern or traditional but fun, bright and challenging.

I suspect having EQ7 on my PC would change things for me enormously.

I have already designed few quilts but these were not complicated (I started to quilt a year ago). So this software would be a great help. Thank you for the chance!

Yes, graph paper and guts! But I have this whimsical dream in my head of a pattern that requires more help and this would be perfect

I’ve designed some of my own quilts — the old fashioned way, using graph paper and pencil. I would love to have EQ7, but it’s always been out of my budget range. =( Thanks for the giveaway!

As I’m still in the process of making my first quilt, I’d have to say no. However, I think this would expand my design skill repertoire, so I wouldn’t mind winning it.

I would love to win! I have been waiting for the Mac version for a long time. Until now I have designed my paper piecing patterns with Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop. All doable, but it takes a tremendous amount of time! You can’t ever imagine what EQ7 for Mac would mean for me!

I have EQ7, but not the version for Macs, so would be delighted to win a copy. I love trying out different fabric options on a design, before committing to fabric.

I design all my quilts using graph paper and pencil. The real fun starts when I need to calculate the amount of fabric I need (heavy sarcasm:) EQ 7 is on my wish list.

The only quilt I designed was a simple rag quilt….does that count? I’ve tried to do more complicated quilts, but quickly gave up. So having an EQ7-Mac version would be awesome!!!

  39. Anita says:

I have been quilting for a few years and I have only designed a couple of quilts on my own. For those I have used pen and paper as my design method. EQ7 for PC would make my life so much easier, then I could put all those ideas swirling in my head into usable blocks and projects in no time (almost)!

I use to have EQ but (sigh…) during a down-sizing retirement move, it was lost. I would love to have another copy. I never really got to use it to the fullest and would sure like to try out all the possibilities! Pick this old lady!
