Christa’s Giveaway – Win a Copy of EQ7 for the Mac (or PC)

I knew it wouldn’t be long before I was able to offer another fabulous giveaway! This one is sponsored by my friends (really they are!) over at Electric Quilt. To celebrate the release of EQ7 for the Mac, they’ve generously decided to give away a copy to one of you – whoo hoo!

20140425_eq7_mac

Don’t worry, this giveaway is actually open to everyone – if the winner is a PC owner, you can select the original version instead of the Mac version. No need to go buy a brand new computer just to run the software on (though that’s exactly what I did, LOL)! And if you prefer to have a downloadable version rather than a physical copy, that’s available, too!

Because I’m an existing EQ7 user, I only needed to get the migration kit to switch from a PC to a Mac. However, for those of you Mac users who have been patiently waiting for the stand-alone Mac version to be released, the time is now!

Here’s how to enter:

Just leave a comment below telling me if you’ve ever designed your own quilt before. Or if not, what you’d love to design if you could. This will be a short giveaway timerame, running through Monday, May 5th at 6PM Pacific time. I’ll email the winner and make an announcement on my blog next Tuesday, May 6th.

Good luck!

I have designed a few quilts in VERY simple designs, but I’d love to be able to make some more intricate ones and view my fabric as well!! Thank you so much for the opportunity to win!!!

As a Mac user I would love to be able to design my own quilts and be able to see in advance what they are going to look like. This giveaway would be a dream come true for me. Thanks Christa

This is an awesome giveaway. I have been designing a few quilt blocks, only in my head so far. I wasn’t sure I wanted to go for broke on a full version. Winning would be wonderful, if just to get the designs out of my head. Thank you Christa and EQ.

    Hi Christa:
Yes, I have designed my own quilt designs. I have EQ4! I tried a few times to use it but found it very frustrating. I had a small laptop at the time and had to adjust the screen resolution in order to see the entire page. Then I got a Mac, so put the software aside. Would love to have this new Mac version of EQ7. The possibilities for design with EQ7 is enormous. Thanks for the opportunity to win.

The first 3 quilts I made I sort of designed myself… just simple jean quilts loosely based on basic quilt patterns. I just sketched the design on paper with the measurements. Then I cut templates for the pieces out of cardboard. How times have changed! Thanks to you and EQ for the chance to win!!! I hope I win, I hope I win!!!

I am completely unable to follow others’ patterns and have pretty much always designed my own quilts. I’ll tell ya, the first couple of pieced quilts back in the 80’s (when I was a teen, using scissors and cardboard templates) were a mess! I’ve dabbled in the last couple of years with various graphics programs to design my quilts, so it would be neat to try something specifically for designing quilts. I bet it would be much easier.

Hi Christa! First of all thanks so much for this giveaway! I have been eyeing this for a while now. I am a new quilter/appliquer. I would love to design a quilt, maybe simple blocks with some beautiful applique over it. Actually what I am looking for is to design a quilt with cabins and bears and moose and anything mountains and this would make it so much easier…

I sort have, Hubby had a idea, I found a pattern that was close.. I am proficient in Photoshop, so I took the pattern in there and tweaked it. He is THRILLED with his one of a kind HD throw for the couch!

I have, but it was a pixel quilt and I used graph paper and colored pencils. It was painful, but the quilt turned out cool. I would really love to check out this software!

I have never designed a quilt before, but have recently been looking I to products like Electric Quilt. I would love to be able to create my own quilts and add them to my blog and to teach my sewing students quilting in a nice gradual way. I have found the more involvement my students have in a project the more excited they are are about their project and the more likely they are to go on and purchase notions to do projects at home. What are really nice contest. Thank you!
I so enjoy reading all of my sewing blogs and always seem to find something interesting to save in my scrapbook for use!

I have tried to design on my own but was not very successful. I would love to win the EQ7 – I am a Mac owner and this would be my starting off point. Thanks, Crista, for a chance at such a generous give away.

I am just beginning to design my own quilt. EQ7 would solve my current problem of having the final product look nothing like the plans!

What an amazing giveaway!! I designed my quilts the old-old-old fashioned way – on graph paper. Once I’ve drawn a design I like on loose graph paper, I redraw it in my fancy quad-ruled notebook. Tedious, but it works. 🙂

Such a fantastic opportunity Christa! Never having physically designed a quilt before, I’ve enjoyed mentally toying with the idea and would love to actually design quilts for each of our 6 great grandchildren.

Wow! What a great chance. I have tried but I always got frustrated when it didn’t work out. I have stained glass windows where I live and would love to try to make a quilt from that idea!

I would love this especially when I am using my scrap stash for charity quilts. I donate to the Linus project locally. It would make the design process much quicker and more productive!

What a wonderful opportunity to acquire EQ7! I am in the process of designing my first quilt with EQ5….I saved my pennies and purchased a used copy a few months ago. I am fairly computer challenged, but recently retired, and I was determined to figure out how to use this program! And guess what? I am being fairly successful! I can already see the limitations of the older version I have, but it will have to do unless I win the lottery or a great prize, like this! 😉

I have a copy of EQ7 for the PC. I went out and bought a new PC to run it. I would love to have a copy to to put on my MAC. It is so much easier to use. I have used EQ7 to design some appliqué shapes and print out block templates but I have never designed a whole quilt.

  29. LauraC says:

I’ve kind of designed a quilt in that I combined a 1-800 jelly roll quilt with an applique owl and then free-formed a tree trunk at the side bit that was fairly easy. I have not tried anything complex. I would love to get a copy of EQ7. ‘Thanks for the opportunity.

I love to take fabic scraps and design my own patterns with them. I’ve started making quite a few modern quilts this way now. One step at a time, no planning ahead plan…sew fun.

I haven’t designed my own quilt yet, though I have adapted block sizes and arrangements. Since discovering pieces backs (beginning with Craftsy), however, I’ve been designing for the backs of my quilts. I use graph paper and colored pencils. I’d love to try EQ7. Maybe I would even try the front of a quilt! 🙂

I used to work for a quilt shop and we used EQ to design quilts all the time. I also use it to calculate fabric needs for the back of a quilt. A very handy tool. Thanks.

I would love to have EQ7. I am trying to get out of the dark ages and start using a computer to design my quilts. This would be a great help and a leap out of my comfort zone. Good Luck to every one.

I have designed several quilts (usually trying to copy a floor design!) and am usually disappointed by my first result. After unsewing several times, I’m usually delighted. The process would be so much simpler with design software. Thanks for the awesome giveaway!!!!

Oh, I would love to win this! I do design my own quilts, and would really love to have a newer version of EQ to design them on. I am currently using EQ4! Thanks for the great giveaway.
