Christa’s Giveaway – Win a Copy of EQ7 for the Mac (or PC)

I knew it wouldn’t be long before I was able to offer another fabulous giveaway! This one is sponsored by my friends (really they are!) over at Electric Quilt. To celebrate the release of EQ7 for the Mac, they’ve generously decided to give away a copy to one of you – whoo hoo!

20140425_eq7_mac

Don’t worry, this giveaway is actually open to everyone – if the winner is a PC owner, you can select the original version instead of the Mac version. No need to go buy a brand new computer just to run the software on (though that’s exactly what I did, LOL)! And if you prefer to have a downloadable version rather than a physical copy, that’s available, too!

Because I’m an existing EQ7 user, I only needed to get the migration kit to switch from a PC to a Mac. However, for those of you Mac users who have been patiently waiting for the stand-alone Mac version to be released, the time is now!

Here’s how to enter:

Just leave a comment below telling me if you’ve ever designed your own quilt before. Or if not, what you’d love to design if you could. This will be a short giveaway timerame, running through Monday, May 5th at 6PM Pacific time. I’ll email the winner and make an announcement on my blog next Tuesday, May 6th.

Good luck!

I have used graph paper forever, but also tried (long time ago) using the graphics part of Appleworks to design. I have an interest in Frank Lloyd Wright stained glass designs and would like to design a quilt honoring his flair for geometrics and color. I do so hope to win the EQ7 for Mac! Thanks for the opportunity to win one!

I have designed my own quilts in the past by using graph paper, a calculator and lots of erasers… I would be thrilled to have this MAC version,

What a wonderful giveaway! I have designed quilts before … some on draft paper, some by sketching and sewing, some by an older version of EQ. As we are on a fixed retirement income, I have not been able to buy the newer version yet. I have seen on the internet that the new version has so many great new features. I would love to have it. Thanks for the chance to win … 🙂 Pat

Wow, what a great give away. I have designed several quilts, particularly to fit in our home. I have watched a friend and you use the software. I think it would add another exciting and fun dimension to my quilting. It is on my wish list. Thanks .

I have designed blocks (paper pieced) but not a whole quilt. I have several ideas on scrap paper and my secret Pinterest board that I would love to turn into real quilts 🙂 Thanks for the opportunity to win a copy of EQ7!!

I’ve tried to sew without a pattern and I vowed never to do that again. Most patterns ate too small and never offer alternatives so some quilters are left with border after border… Boring. I need eq7. Hope I win, I’d like to design existing patterns bigger and I’d like to design backings. I have designed before, I just draw a picture and start in the middle or a corner and go from there, not good. Hugs

I always design my own quilts. I like patterns, but they tend to have at least one element that doesn’t fit in my idea.

    Hi,
Thank you for such a great giveaway – I’d just need the migration kit, too, as I have lots of fun designing my own quilts on EQ!

I just finished my first quilt design. Although it was a very simple design, the concept arose because I had beautiful large floral prints and I didn’t want to cut them up. Would love to try my hand at another.

I just finished my first ever quilt and it is one I designed from scratch. I’ve been using Excel to plot out my designs, but this software would make things so much easier! Thank you for the opportunity to win!!

Hi, I’m a new enough quilter that I’ve never designed a quilt before but have a few ideas (inspired by my day job working in an immunology lab) that EQ would really help me figure out!

Thank you so much for such a great give-away contest. I have designed some quilts using graph paper and pencil so this software would be so fantastic. It would be great to increase my imagination with the EQ7.

I have a Mac and would enjoy this modern way to design modern quilts for charities. It would work a lot better than my shaky hands with paper and pencil. : )

I design a lot of my own quilts. I have a lot of graph paper that I draw out my ideas on. I would love to win this. It’s been on my want list but I haven’t gotten it yet.

I haven’t done a technical design yet. I would love to make some type of star design. I love star blocks of all kinds so to design one would tickle my fancy. Thank you for the chance.

I am dabbling in designing my own quilts. What I would really like to use the EQ7 for is quilt backs. I like to make the back of my quilts just as pretty as my front since I put so much time into them. The EQ would take me from graph paper to the computer and make life a lot easier. It would also help me get started in modern quilting.

I have designed a few quilts on my own. Mainly used graph paper and colored pencils. I tried it on the computer using an excel spreadsheet format but it was not easy and I couldn’t manipulate the cells the way I wanted to. This would be very exciting to have. Thank you so much for your continued inspiration and the wonderful giveaways.

Matter of fact I have. I’ve designed some very simple ones on EQ. Need more time to learn the program to get best benefit of program.

In order to truly discover who I am as a quilter (after 20 years of quilting) I believe the next step is to design my own… and as a “tool” collector, this is one my toolbox needs. 🙂 Thanks for the challenge and opportunity for growth!

Oh gosh….all these people are so deserving but I’d like to add my name to the list as well. 🙂
I returned to sewing a year ago and am crazy in love with quilting (like…”Oh my gosh it’s midnight, how did THAT happen?” …type of in love. LOL) I have purchased so many books and now understand that both traditional and modern quilting are based on a lot of basic blocks designs and then there are a million ways you may organize them on your own – in shape and color. I am having difficulty taking the the patterns and colors I see in my head to fruition because I can’t figure out how to mix and match and tweak here or there fast enough on paper or sketch pad. I think this is what the electronic quilting software could let me do….get what I’m seeing in my head to a medium where I can refine it and then create the quilt pattern I can see and feel taking shape in my mind. One place I’d like to begin is I’d like to design more quilts for teen boys. Beautiful, classic bedding but really tailored for boys…something similar to the old woolen camp blankets- type of classic look but vibrant color yet suited for boys. There isn’t much out there for that.

I’ve designed a couple with graph paper, and tried to cobble something together in Photoshop once…this would be way better! Fingers crossed!

I have designed a few quilts on my own, but nothing really complicated. Winning eq7 would be great as the design possibilities would be endless. Thanks

Hi Christa, your tree quilt is the very first quilt I ever made. The next quilt I designed myself using half square triangles. I would LOVE to win the EQ7 to really take shapes and color to the next level! When I taught school we used pattern blocks to design quilt squares and then used computer programs to design further. The children loved it as did we! This would really be a gift!
Your work and teaching are truly an inspiration. Thank you.
    T

Wonderful chance to migrate from paper to computer design! I’ve been using colored pencils and graph paper for too many years.

My quilty beginnings were making denim quilts from old Levis and I’d sketch out a design on graph paper – just simple blocks but with different tones and some corduroy thrown in for good measure. Very time consuming. I’ve always thought it would be great fun to unleash creative talents with EQ, and I’d certainly put it to good use!

I have only made one quilt in which I followed a “pattern”…and it was my very first quilt. Since then I have designed each quilt I have made. Owning EQ7 for MAC would REALLY make the process a breeze! Thanks for the chance to win!

I just made up a pattern as I went along featuring John Deere tractors which my grandson loves. I had several do overs that would not have existed if I had EQ7. What a blessing that would be. Thank you for the opportunity to win this great quilting helper.

I have designed a few quilts but they tend to be simple in design. Winning the eq7 would be great as it would allow me to design more complex patterns which I visualize all the time.

no, i have not (yet) as i am new to crafting and am currently teaching myself how to sew/quilt, crochet/tunisian crochet and many other things. i would love to design a dragonfly for myself though as that is the symbol of my company

Woo hoo! I used to own a copy of EQ but it soon became useless to me when we switched from PC to my GMac in 2005 (and I love, love, love all things Apple…so I’ve been lamenting the loss of it (gave it to Goodwill) ever since, especially when I see what you are doing with it. I’ve only designed 2 quilts totally out of my head, and then made those two, but I’ve tweaked and modified several. Having EQ again would be fan-tab-ulous! However, I’m thinking I might have to figure out a way to clone myself…how will I ever fit everything in to a day??!!!

I would love to win this. I have never designed my own quilt, and because of that, I feel as though they aren’t really mine. Even after all that work!
