Christa’s Giveaway – Win a Copy of EQ7 for the Mac (or PC)

I knew it wouldn’t be long before I was able to offer another fabulous giveaway! This one is sponsored by my friends (really they are!) over at Electric Quilt. To celebrate the release of EQ7 for the Mac, they’ve generously decided to give away a copy to one of you – whoo hoo!

20140425_eq7_mac

Don’t worry, this giveaway is actually open to everyone – if the winner is a PC owner, you can select the original version instead of the Mac version. No need to go buy a brand new computer just to run the software on (though that’s exactly what I did, LOL)! And if you prefer to have a downloadable version rather than a physical copy, that’s available, too!

Because I’m an existing EQ7 user, I only needed to get the migration kit to switch from a PC to a Mac. However, for those of you Mac users who have been patiently waiting for the stand-alone Mac version to be released, the time is now!

Here’s how to enter:

Just leave a comment below telling me if you’ve ever designed your own quilt before. Or if not, what you’d love to design if you could. This will be a short giveaway timerame, running through Monday, May 5th at 6PM Pacific time. I’ll email the winner and make an announcement on my blog next Tuesday, May 6th.

Good luck!

I’m a fairly new beginner in the quilting world. I am also a Mac user and have been patiently awaiting the release of EQ for Mac. I have only dabbled in designing my own quilts but I would love to explore the design process wit EQ rather than my spreadsheet program! Of course the program comes out now when I happen to be buying a new house so the funds for this are a little short. Soon enough I’ll have a new quilting room and hopefully a new EQ program to go crazy with!

I have designed simple quilts for the Truth and Reconciliation hearings that contained the four colours from the aboriginal colour wheel. I used to make Ukrainian dance costumes, so the quilt I am most attached to was a shadow box pattern that I used material from the costumes including brushed cotton, sateen and a belting material to make my memory quilt. I am working on a quilt right now that I decreased the number of fat quarters that I used so that I could use up all the material rather than have a bit of leftovers from more material. I think when I retire I would like to design a quilt reflecting a garden theme, or the Northern lights.

I haven’t designed a quilt before, but I have taken orphaned blocks and made a quilt with them:) Thanks for the generous giveaway!

Having been a long time Mac user, I have been frustrated over the years that many programs I was interested in were not for Macs. EQ7 for Mac will be wonderful and I hope that i will be the lucky winner. I usually design my quilts using a pencil and paper- the old fashioned way. Maybe I can join the 21st century with EQ7!!

I do design my own quilts. I usually make art quilts to hang on the walls of my home. I’d like to play with changing traditional blocks into new ones.

I’m absolutely dying to get the EQ7 to design quilts and table runners. I have a mac and have been looking for software that would allow me to search for and scan fabric. I’ve read favorable reviews about the EQ7 and feel confident that this would be a great tool to use for all the fun fabric that I’m collecting. I would love to design a stunning Christmas quilt!

I have designed bug quilts for my grandsons. It was a lot of fun. I would love the opportunity to design with the EQ7! I can just imagine what I could design then!

I have designed my own quilts! I’m an architect, so I use our drawing program to hardline my designs after I’ve sketched them using pencil and graph paper! I am so excited that EQ has come out for Macs! Thanks for the chance!

Yes I do design some of my own quilts – inspiration is all around. I did a large modern quilt for my son for Christmas but I know the EQ7 would make my life easier! Thanks, Cindy

yes, most of my quilts are my own design, meaning old patterns arranged in a different way, or completely original like a Yellow Submarine quilt for my nephew. I tend to design traditional with a flair.

Wow! I hope 385 is a lucky number! I have designed several quilts using good old graph paper. It’s very frustrating and I’d love to have EQ7 to make that process much easier. I’m a modern quilter, so, some designs can get a little crazy as far as placement of blocks/designs. Thanks for the generous giveaway. svonfumetti at yahoo dot com

I’ve been making quilts for years but haven’t really done any of my own design. Having EQ7 would be a wonderful way to get started on the design aspect of quilting. Fingers crossed😉.

I always make up my own designs and wow would this be a big help. I keep looking at this software but never seem to have enough spare money to buy. I would love it, thanks for the chance.

I’m quite new to quilting so haven’t yet designed my own quilt. I am collecting bunny fabrics at the minute to make a rainbow bunny quilt which will be my own design. This software would be brilliant for the job!

I recently took an awesome Hawaiian Quilt design class. I’m thinking EQ for Mac would help get my concept realized and finalized without the several paper re-drafts normally required.

Quilt making is my passion and I now only make bed size quilts as gifts after much discussion with the intended recipient. But smaller projects like bath mats, lap quilts I make inspired by the person I intend to give it to, so spend a lot of time sketching, planning. Latest was for my sisters 25th wedding anniversary and I free motioned words and family crests and appliquéd flags, state flags and favoured animals for each member of the family. Free motion quilting inspired by so many bloggers especially yourself have given me the confidence to try. Thanks for all the hours you put into this and the free give always you manage to put together.

I am making a HST quilt right now. I worked out the size of the block on graph paper. When the blocks are done, I play around on the design wall to get the finally layout that I like. I have been dreaming to have QE7 for a while now.

I would love to win the for PC software. I have been dreaming of purchasing but haven’t had funds. I did use their free software to design a quilt for my little grand nephew. My only attempt so far.

I’ve designed a couple of improv type quilts, but would love to try designing more “modern traditional” quilts with blocks, and EQ7 would be a big help. Thanks!

Christa, I bought eq7, when It was offered at a special price for the class at the Las Vegas Guild a couple of years back. I use it quite often, but still have to try some of the other apps available. It is so gererous of you to have it avialable for someone to win. I know they will enjoy it like I do. Good luck to everyone.

I designed a quilt for my grandson. It was all by trial and error! It was a lot of fun, as well as a fantastic learning experience. I’m sure that EQ7 would have made the job MUCH easier. Thank you for the opportunity to win such amazing software!

Of the 5 quilts I have made, I designed (more like flew by the seat of my pants) 3 of them. I always wish I had taken more time arranging pieces before I start sewing, a program like this would be so helpful! I try to spend the time drawing out pattern ideas but usually I just go at it and see what happens. Congrats to the lucky winner!

I have tried to design my quilt’s colors using graph paper and I am NOT good at it. I am always disappointed in how they turn out. I would love to use EQ 7!

I am always “marching to my own drummer” so to speak, so would love to have something like this to design with.

  27. Emily Carnesa says:

I have only made 5 quilts, and I followed a pattern twice. I usually regret not spending more time arranging the pieces before I sew it all together, one reason why I would LOVE to use a program like this. I started taking the time to draw it out on paper but that also is time consuming to draft up several versions before I decide what I want to make. Congrats to the lucky winner!

Hi Christa! Love your blog! I have never designed my own quilt before – but I am totally intrigued by EQ and would love the chance to win. Designing and creating my own work – what an exciting thought!! The seed has been planted… 🙂

I’ve designed some simple quilts with graph paper, but I would love to use EQ7 instead. I often am unsure which fabrics to use, wondering if they’ll look okay, and with EQ7, I could not only design my own quilts, but audition fabric. I would also be able to design paper piecing blocks with it. It would be so helpful to me.

HI, I made a *crazy block* pattern and plan to make several more, with or without technology. And less of horrible triangles 🙂 I just joined the San Antonio Modern Quilt Guild, a great group in TX.

Paper and pencil is all I have ever used but I have looked into the idea of using a computer program to help me out. I would love to design special quilts for my family and friends. What a great chance to be able to do that Christa!

Yes, I have designed quilts! I think I am addicted to designing quilts, unfortunately, I’m so busy designing them I rarely get to sew them out!! I have lots of ideas in my head. I have EQ7 & love it, would love to have it for the Mac, also (& also would probably go out & buy a Mac computer to go with it!)

I have designed a few quilts… using my trusty graph paper. I also tried an iPad app but it doesn’t have many features so I use it more for inspiration than real I quilt design. EQ would be awesome!

I did design a very basic design using colored pencils and graph paper. Having EQ7 to create designs would be fabulous
