Christa’s Giveaway – Aurifil Thread Bundle

It’s time for another giveaway! As with all of the giveaways I’m hosting during my Abacus Quilt Along, you do not have to follow along to participate in the giveaway. Everyone is welcome to comment and enter for a chance to win.

abacus_aurifil_threadBeautiful Aurifil threads I used in my version of Abacus.

Up for grabs this week: A bundle of beautiful 50 weight Aurifil cotton threads! One lucky winner will receive 8 small spools of the same exact colors I used for the machine applique on Abacus; plus a large spool of the same grey I used for the machine quilting.

Click here for a listing of the exact colors of threads and fabrics I chose.

Machine quilting is my favorite part of making any quilt – it’s quick, easy, and fun!

To enter, simply leave a comment letting me know what you think about machine applique! Do you love it or hate it? Or are you somewhere in between? You can also mention your favorite method of applique if you like. 🙂

Good luck!

I’m not a fan of machine applique. I prefer needle turn or the starch and Templar template material method. I just wish I were faster at it.

I love applique but find I am better at hand work. Machine will be one of my go tos now because my hands hurt too much for hand work. Practice makes perfect!

Machine applique is great for instant gratification but hand applique is much more satisfying, so it depends on the project which method I use but I prefer hand.

I love machine applique! I think it’s the only way, lol. I don’t enjoy hand work as much as machine, but I know others love hand applique. Great colors!

I’ve never done applique, however it is something I plan to learn soon so I can add little somethings to guilts to be made for my Grandkids. You introduced me to Aurifil thread about a year ago and I think of you everytime I use it.

I love how much control you have with hand applique BUT machine applique gives a more consistent look. Love the colors of thread you used.

I have Rheumatoid Arthritis so I do all applique by machine. I like to use matching colors so this would be very helpful to win so many colors!

I did a sampler quilt that included appliqué and I tried different techniques on a few different blocks. I love the puffy look of needle turn, but machine appliqué was a bit faster (after the frustration of finding all the right settings). I loved the look of the satin stitch. Both techniques are good. Even though I’ve done a few appliqué projects and enjoyed it, fear creeps in whenever I think of doing it again. Thanks for the great giveaway. I have never used Aurifill, but I would love the chance to try out those beautiful threads.

I love it and would love to get a machine so I could add the beautiful work to my quilts that I love so much!!! I also like to hand appliqué nut it takes me along time due to hands that don’t always cooperate!!!!

I enjoy machine applique. I love the added designs or texture you can incorporate into a quilt. Your thread choices and fabrics are amazing. Thank you for the inspiration!

Christa, II would love to learn how to machine applique. I have had my sewing machine for over 40 years. It is a Kenmore 12 stitch. I love it and it will do appliqueing. I have sewn many projects on this machine, however I have never appliqued on the sewing machine. It is never to late to learn. I would love to win the beautiful threads you are giving away.Thank you . Have a great week-end. 🙂

I do lots and lots of machine applique, using a tiny blanket stitch and usually rayon embroidery thread to match each fabric. If I don’t want the shine, I just use my Aurifil. It’s my preferred thread for both piecing and machine quilting. I could really use more colors. Thanks for the opportunity to win some.

I love machine applique. Hand is fun as well, I’ve just been doing some of it. But the machine is grreat – I love the way I can get results quickly that still look beautiful! You have a neat site.

I like hand and machine applique–however, it is always raw edge and rather simple–no turns for this girl! Thanks so much for sharing! The inner nerd in me is loving your Abacus quilt!

Ah! The quilt has turned out SEW amazing and I am loving this QAL. First one with you and most thanks to having a giveaway during it. I have yet to try Auriful and I keep wanting to, but can’t seem to get myself there yet with the price and know it is just “that” good. LoL

I love machine applique and your pattern!
I think I get a more polished look when I do. My hand stitching is never as smooth or even.
(I also have CTS and can’t do much hand sewing without being in pain.)

I have just done hand applique. However, I now have all of the supplies for raw edge applique after picking up many Row-By-Row patterns this summer. My sewing machine and I love Aurifil thread.
