Baby Boy Blue
The quilt design is my riff on a traditional block called “Gentleman’s Fancy,” hence the similar name. In addition to the original layout shown above in the book,ย I also shared how you can just flip a couple of rows to make a really cool oversized star design, a great size for that little fella in your life:

Pretty in Pink
But what I’d really love to do is remake it in a pretty pink version, perfect for a little princess! This time I chose pink, red and gray swatches from Deb Strain‘s latest line for Moda. It’s actually a Valentine’s collection but works just as well for this version!

What if you wanted to make a bigger quilt? Just make more blocks and multiply the yardage requirements by four to make this cuddly throw. Isn’t it fun to play around with the possibilities??

Christa Quilts 
My favorite baby quilt I have made is the Fancy Fox, I made both a boy and girl version for my little ones. I have also made many more baby quilts for gifts, but the Foxes have a special place in my heart! ๐
My most favorite baby quilt would be an Irish chain quilt with star blocks. I made it about 15 years ago for a friend. The chain squares are blue and white, and the star blocks are gold and white.
Oh I do enjoy making baby quilts – no delayed gr as tification! My all time favorite was a “blue boy” for grandson 2 – harlequin blues in the border with simple blocks of scrappy toy graphics. Just woring on one for the gresr-nephew who was born on summer solstice.
My favorite baby quilt was a flannel one, warm and cozy, made in the Chinese coins pattern.
My favorite baby quilt is the one I just made for my first grandchild (a micro premie born 3 months early)..look forward to him using it when he can finally come home from the NICU. It’s made with the new Crayola fabrics…solids done as a star for the center, accented with the crayon print and bordered with the same solids…the back is the alphabet print.
My favorite baby quilt was a variation of a friendship star and was made with 30’s reproduction fabric. The binding was flanged. It is so cheerful and pretty. ๐ Thanks for the giveaway!
My favorite baby quilt is the one I just made for my new little nephew. It looks like a bit like a bargello, but it’s an optical illusion quilt. Because it’s scrappy, it took a lot of time and concentration to cut out and piece. It took a little longer than many of my quilts, but the results were worth the effort. I’ve come to realize that while I love antique quilts, my style is definitely modern. Thank you for the wonderful blog and the fun giveaway.
I have made 2 baby quilts for brothers. They looked so different even tho they were made with gender neutral colors. It was fun to see how they worked up.

I love baby quilts, and have made a few. My favorite it was probably my first one, simple but nice, a giant single block based on rectangles.
While I have made many baby quilts , my very most favorite was one I made for a coworker. I used a remant of a 20-year-old print with several remnants of previous baby quilts. It was fairly simple with a center panel with two borders and 4-patch cornerstones and then prairie points as binding. It was hard to part with, but was well-received.
I made the “Elephant Parade” quilt for my newest grandson. It was a pattern from Sew Fresh Quilts. I love it and it turned out so cute.
I made a dr Seuss quilt for a cousins baby boy. Cat in the hat and was great fun to make.
I’ve never made a baby quilt (what?!) but my favorite quilt I made for one of my kids was a USA Map quilt for my son who loves geography.
My favorite quilt so far was one I made from Kate and Birdies Bluebird Park. I loved this fabric and hated to cut it up so I made one large star using 10 ” HSTs.
Our Modern Quilt Guild (Capital Area MQG in PA) makes baby quilts for the Neonatal ICU of the local hospital as our charity project. I made a “modern” disappearing 9 patch quilt with Kona white I had on hand and a Bella solids charm pack in pastel colors. I had never used so much white in a quilt before and I was very pleasantly surprised with the end product. The disappearing 9 patch blocks go together quickly and I plan to make more!

My favorite baby quilt so far is the mermaid quilt I made for my granddaughter! It was a lot of pieces & a lot of work, but it turned out really cute!
Of all the baby quilts I have made, Bug Jar quilts are the best! I have made and given away about 5 of them!
My favorite quilt of late was my “When Pigs Fly”. I used a layer cake called “Eat Your Veggies” and bold colors. The Pigs were from the mommy to be when she was in school and was told she couldn’t do something on the track team…her response was “When Pigs Fly”.
I love doing baby quilts in all colors and sizes…it’s fun to see them in use.
So I have only made about three or four baby quilts and I love them all. Usually simple piecing. My last one was very modern with rectangle and I quilted it with circles.

My favourite baby quilt was the first quilt I made for my granddaughter. It is nice and cosy make of colourful flannels.
My favorite is a simple “squares” quilt with heather ross fabric that I made for youngest. It still makes me smile when I see it.
I’ve made lots of baby quilts, but one of my favorites was one I designed for my nephew (who is now 32) that had an appliqued teddy bear in the center with a patchwork border.
Favorite baby quilt was my first one ever. Simple pinwheels.

I would have to say the favorite baby quilt I have made was the first one that started me quilting. It was for my niece who turned 22 yesterday!
My favorite baby quilt was the one I made for my nephew. It was soft and cuddly because I used minky as the backing.
I made a “Baby Genius” quilt/wall hanging for my grandson. He had to name the animals every night before going to bed for a few years – sure made Grandma feel good that he enjoyed and remembers this quilt.
I made a disappearing nine patch out of charm squares for a friend’s granddaughter. Turned out really cute.

My tradition-2 quilts old-is to make an alphabet quilt when a niece or nephew is starting their family! This is more of a family quilt, I also make a quilt for the new baby.

My daughter is an expat living in Canada. While there, she has become friends with one of the other expat wives who is from Iran. When her friend had a baby I made a simple quilt because this friend is such a lovely person and would do anything to help my daughter or her family. This small gesture on my part has amazed her entire Iranian family. They can’t believe someone she has never met would make a baby quilt as a gift. As quilters, we know that my gesture is not unusual. It makes me wonder if sending baby quilts to Iran or anywhere in the middle east might solve all of our problems over there. Just a thought.
love making baby quilts. but one of my favorites was “a chain of stars mystery quilt”‘by Kimberly Einmo. it was a class on Craftsy. I enjoyed it so thoroughly. She is a great teacher.
My favorite baby quilt is the first one I made. I sewed several widths of pink fabrics and then cut a heart shape out of the fabrics and appliqued them onto white fabric squares. I used the various 10 fabrics in a piano key border/ I also used sashing strips. It turned out beautiful.
My favorite baby quilt is always the last one I made!
I made a baby quilt based on a Fair Isle knitting pattern using lots of bright colors. I found a wonderful coordinating flannel for the backing. My grandson was born last evening! We are so excited.
I have spent the first year of my retirement making small baby quilts for patients in one of the local neonatal intensive care units . They are between 20 to 24,inches square. This has been a real stash busting exercise for me as my goal was to make one per week for the year! I am working on the last 17. So far my favourite was made from an orphaned appliquรฉd block and finished as a medallion style quilt.
My favorite is a paper pieced geometric done in bright colors.
My current favorite is a chevron quilt (using your directions) made with aqua/red sock monkey fabric and gray solid. The backing was a turquoise fabric with red sock monkeys skateboarding, roller skating, and riding bikes. The quilt was made for my first great grandson.

I have made many baby quilts over the years, but my favorite is still my first one. Believe it or not, it was the drunkerds path. I made it with bright pink and yellow. It was a beauty. I never did tell any one the name of the pattern, no telling what they would have thought
first baby quilt I made, years ago when I started out quilting was diagonally set fish blocks with triangles for fins and tails, button eyes and rickrack sea weed . piano key boarders and high loft batting finished it off. no pattern … I didn’t know better then, but I was and still am pleased with it.

I made a baby quilt this spring for a baby boy using a fish themed fabric line and quilted it with organic wavy lines. It turned out great!
my favorite baby quilt has got to be the one i made with a zebra waving at my grandson right on the bottom of the quilt. he loved it from the very beginning. it actulaly wasn’t meant to be for him, but from the second he saw it he kept hugging that zebra so of course it became his!!!! shoshana s5821140@gmail.com

I have made several baby quilts (I have 8 grandchildren), but my favorite was the baby quilt I made for my oldest son. I embroidered all the blocks during lunch so I wouldn’t eat too much! It is still in one piece, but a little fragile.
I’ve made 4 baby quilts so far, as I have 4 grandchildren. Hope to make a couple of more in the future, if I’m lucky ๐ :). My favorite one was the last one I made this year for a new granddaughter. I will post a picture of it on your Facebook Group. I just LOVE your quilt above, that “block” is just wonderful. You inspire us all, and get us all excited about quilting, too!!
My most favorite baby quilt was a “Spell It with Moda” quilt I made recently, for my darling baby granddaughter. So much fun to make an ABC quilt that I know she’ll cherish and even use to learn the alphabet!
