My Craftsy class, The Quilter’s Path: Plan It, Stitch It, Quilt It is scheduled to launch next week!! Whoo hoo!! It’s all about showing you how to quilt some of my favorite motifs using your walking foot, free motion, or both. To celebrate, one of you lucky readers will get a chance to win it before you can buy it. π

Win My Class!
To enter, first click here to sign in or register for a free Craftsy account (if you don’t have one yet). Then leave me a comment letting me know if you’ve ever taken a Craftsy class before.
If you are a regular Craftsy user, I’d also love to know what you love best about the class platform. As for me, I love being able to interact 24/7 via the Q&A sidebar in each class. π
The giveaway will be open to all and will run through the end of the week. I’ll draw a random winner on Saturday and will contact them via email.
Pinwheel Quilts from Class
I used Craftsy’s Boundless precut strips in three different color schemes to make the 3 full-sized pinwheel quilts shown in class. With careful cutting you can actually make 2 quilts from each set, or make one larger version. The free pattern will be included exclusively as part of the class.
Here’s closeup shots of each of the pinwheel quilts I share in class:

The Navy/30’s Pinwheels (with walking foot quilting) was made from 30’s prints and navy solids. I actually show two versions of this quilt in class, the finished red/white/blue version shown above, plus the pastel version shown below. I separated the precut 2 1/2″ strips into two color schemes to make both quilts. I used a contrasting thread on the pastel version that I actually quilt on during class, so you can see what I’m doing.

For the Pink/White pinwheels, I free-motion quilted a fun and easy edge to edge design that gives the quilt lots of texture. This is a fast way to finish that looks amazing on your quilt!

During class, I teach many more quilting motifs than shown in these three samples, but I still quilt them on real blocks so you can see how the designs will look before you commit to a full quilt. For the pink/white version I used some of the leftover solid pink strips to make a scrappy binding. I think it adds such a fun look to a quilt!

For the grand finale, I show how to combine both walking foot and free-motion techniques to create a truly custom look with your quilt, as shown in the Teal/Gray Pinwheels quilt.

There’s plenty of leftover pieces in each bundle that you can use to whip up sample blocks to practice on like I did. It always amazes me how different a quilt can look, once it’s quilted!

In class, I also share several of my other finished quilts for inspiration, explaining how I apply the quilting to each of these quilts. My goal is for you to not only learn the designs, but feel comfortable quilting them on any quilt. Once the class launches, I’ll be back with a detailed class summary, along with an exclusive discount available only from me. I can’t wait!!

I like all the classes I’ve taken. I just checked and the total is 100! I like the question/answer portion. Craftsy wants happy customers. I’ve heard of people that got credit for a class they were unhappy with. I ordered fabric, some patterns and the box came in terrible shape. Luckily all my order was there, but Craftsy gave me a $25 credit just because I let them know how my box arrived. I like that I’m able to take classes from world known instructors, I’d never be able to take, unless online. Lifetime availability, is awesome. Thanks for the opportunity for a free class Christa.
I have registered for a couple of classses on Craftsy but have not had the time to watch them. I just had foot surgery on the 22nd and now I have time to watch the classes I have registered for and I know I will enjoy them.
I love Craftsy! I have bought many classes and I usually sign up for the free ones as well. I guess you could call me a Craftsy class hoarder! I’m excited for the chance to win your class! Can’t wait to see it! π Oh…the things I really like about the Craftsy classes are that I can rewind the video as much as I want and I can ask questions and get some pretty quick responses. Thanks again!
I love craftsy. I have so many classes across many different disciplines.
Thank you for the chance to win your class! My favorite part of the Craftsy classes is that I can ask a question of the teacher and get help. And I can interact with my fellow students!
I’ve never taken a Craftsy class or any other online quilting class, but I have purchased lots of supplies from Craftsy.
Oh! For sure, I’ve taken several Craftsy classes! I really like how you can replay sections to see details, that truthfully, I might never see clearly in a local class with lots of other students crowding around the instructor. Also, I can review/repeat a class months later.
Thanks for the class giveaway opportunity, Christa!
I have never taken a class on Craftsy..So many look interesting, but as a senior on a fixed income, there just isn’t any extra $$ for things like that. I am mostly self taught.
Craftsy addict here! I love the variety of qualityclasses offered & the experts who teach; however, the most attractive aspect is having all your classes available 24/7. I’m often awake thru the night and really appreciate that. I’ve been disappointed by a few of the classes I’ve purchased but that has been the exception.
I have taken a couple Craftsy classes and enjoyed them (Fig Tree, Edyta Sitar, Jacquie Gerig) and I especially enjoy the ‘rewind’….so if I miss a detail or just need to see it again, it’s so easy to watch again.
Christa, Thank you for this giveaway opportunity. I have taken several Craftsy quilting classes. Really enjoy them. Especially like that I can refer back to a lesson as often as I need to get the technique down.
I love Craftsy classes! They provide great hands-on instruction videos, that I can watch as many times as I need, at any time of the day or night. Plus, I can ask questions & share my results. What could be better than that?
I have taken Craftsy classes and like that I can watch them on my own time frame. I like the I can repeat parts when needed.
Thank you for the chance to win.
I have taken a few classes with Craftsy. I like the fact that you can pause and rewind. So when I realize that I missed something (“what a minute, what did she just do?”), I can go back and find out quickly, I don’t need to start from the beginning again!
I’ve used craftsy for sewing and cross stitch patterns. But i do enjoy their ease of use.
I have taken several Craftsy classes. Love the format and expert advice.
I have taken many courses with craftsy and love being able to take them 24/7. Love the variety and being able to learn different methods from all the instructors. I have one of your books, but would love to have a visual more class like setting! Thanks for this opportunity, looking forward to your class.
I have done several classes! One on quilting large quilts on a home machine. That one sadly was not as helpful as I hoped but I think more due to my machine. The other was finishing quilts. Bindings and such. I still reference it all the time! I’m planning on signing up for one on puff pastries soon!
I have a couple free classes in my que, but only started one and did not finish. Something got in the way, and have not gotten back to it. I vow at the beginning of the year, when the “fires here have been put out”, I am going to get back to it.
I have taken 2 quilting classes and 1 embroidery class purchased/used many, many patterns.
I love the 24/7 access from any device and I think the cost of each class is very reasonable.
I also love how people from all over the globe can take the class and add comments & questions – there is so much to learn from each other. I have 2 of your books Christa and follow you on IG and read your blog – keep up the great teaching!! Thanks so much!
Craftsy format is genius! So nice to be able to see great teachers in action, and really to understand what the steps or to do something! Your books and blog are so inviting, I’m sure taking an actual class with you would be so inspirational to finishing a project. Thank you for the chance.
I have several classes in my library that I have watched. One is Creative quilting with your walking foot.
I enjoy the online Craftsy classes because it allows me to access them even when I’m not at home, like on s long bus ride. They’re great as a refresher course if it’s been a while since I have used a particular technique. It’s also nice to hear and see the people I admire.
I have never purchased a Craftsy class. I do own a copy of your book, and would be thrilled to win this so I can watch you teach!!
I have viewed several of the free classes I am retired so my quilt budget mostly gets spent on fabric. Thanks for the chance to win drhodes9@cox.net
I love Craftsy! Being able to watch whenever I want and to go back over is such a great format! I love that! I love your pinwheels quilt too!
I have taken several classes offered on Craftsy. It is a great platform to use as a learning tool. I still have to finish Kimberly Einmo’s course in quilting. I took Amy Gibson’s Block of the Month and one other class, regarding quilting. I am excited you were able to teach a class and I am looking forward to taking it.
I love the Craftsy classes, and now have 44 in my library. The availability (as you mentioned 24/7) is a huge benefit. I can watch a class whenever I have time. And when I’m sewing, the instructor is there to walk me through the process one step at a time. How cool is that?!
I have never taken a Craftsy class but yours could be my first one!! I recently retired after teaching for 25 years so now it’s my time.
I love Crafty’s format for their video classes. Also, being able to go back and review techniques that are being shown is invaluable. Congrats on your new class. FMQ is on my list of things to learn in 2017. Thanks for the chance to win your class. grinnie1961 at gmail dot com
I love being able to go back and look up a tip that I know I’ve seen while watching a class whenever I’m not sure about something I’m about to attempt. I have quite a range of classes and I can always find the answer somewhere in my Craftsy classes. And being able to ask the instructor a specific question and get feedback from other students is a real bonus. Looking forward to adding your class to my list.
I have several classes in my Craftsy library. They are a low commitment way to learn a technique (at your own pace, at any hour) without the logistics needed for travelling to be with some of these great teachers.
I’ve taken quite a few Craftsy classes. My favorite thing about them is that you get high-quality instruction for $20 or less (on sale).
I’ve not taken any Craftsy classes. Always willing to learn new things though and 24/7 is great for the night owls in some of us.
Hi ya. I love Craftsy stuff. I have done the Amy Gibson quilt along. I’m hoping you’ll be pick to do the next one. I have two of Amy’s classes. I have Leah day machine motion that went along with the 2012 class. I love that you can aces them anytime you want.
I have taken many Craftsy classes. I love the connivence of taking classes in my PJ’s if I choose and the ability to view the classes day or night, home or not. I’ve learned so much from the quilting world. thank you for the opportunity.
Thank you for the opportunity to win your class! I have purchased about 30 quilting classes and one cooking class so far. I love being able to go back and watch the classes over and over again! I also enjoy seeing what other students are making.
I have never taken a Crafsty class but I plan to … someday. π
I love the Craftsy classes, wing able to watch it over and over and always having access to the class is great. I am a visual learner, so ring able to watch at will is such a great feature.
So looking forward to see yiur class Christa!
I have maybe 5 or 6 Craftsy classes, but I’ve only been able to view one of them (Ann Peterson’ fmq a large quilt). Sadly, Craftsy classes no longer play on Kindles and apparently Craftsy has given up trying to resolve the issue with Amazon. I have another 6 year old Sony netbook, but can’t get the volume loud enough to her the instructors. That said, I am hoping to get a Chromebook in 2017, so hopefully I’ll finally get to enjoy the classes I’ve paid for already. Good luck with the class launch.
I have one of your books and can’t wait to see your class on craftsy. It will be a great way to put my quilting ideas into actual stitches
I’m so excited for you! I love Craftsy classes. I like it that you can watch as many times as you want and I like how many different options you have with all the different teachers.
I’ve taken several Craftsy classes. I love that I can watch them again and again, take the lessons out of order if I’m looking for something specific, and the 30-second rewind, for when I missed, or blinked, or just needed to see that again.
I also love that the questions can be asked right there in the lesson, and that you can see other people’s questions–maybe giving an answer to something you were about to ask, or just extra interest and instruction/tips. We all learn from each other, and the forum gives it a true classroom feel.
I have taken a number of Craftsy classes–mostly about quilting! I like that there are so many choices and instructors for the same or similar topics. Each instructor approaches the topic from a different angle and I learn new things from each one. I also love that I can go do a craftsy class whenever I am in the mood, whatever the time!
Being able to watch the class at my own pace is my favorite part of the Craftsy classes. I love to be able to watch the segments that I am unfamiliar with by reviewing them over and over until I get it!
Great news on your class! Craftsy classes are so affordable. I love Craftsy classes as I usually have questions in the middle of the night, since that is my quilting opportunities happen, and it is so wonderful to have craftsy around to answer! I seem to have stockpiled a bunch of classes for me to watch/do when I retire and I would love to learn from you too! Thanks for the opportunity.
I have a bunch of classes and I love them. I like that I can go back to ot anytime.
I’ve taken several Craftsy classes and thoroughly enjoy the fact that I can watch anytime. The topics and content of the classes are great!
Christa, I’ve not purchased any classes from Craftsy or elsewhere. I read your books and try to apply what I read. I think 2017 will definitely have your class on my computer to learn in detail.
Happy Boxing Day
Congrats on your Craftsy class. Love Craftsy classes you can go back a watch lessons over again and sew along.
