Latest Finish to Share – My Hometown from I Love House Blocks

I’m back with another fun finish to share, my contribution to the “Blockbuster Series” of quilt books – I Love House Blocks.

I Love House Blocks

My quilt is shown on the cover and I made it from a fun bundle of Pat Sloan’s fabric from Moda.

I made the house centers log cabin style and added a quick and easy paper pieced rooftop. I love adding lots of negative space (background) to my quilts so I can show off some fun quilting. Because I was on a deadline I quilted this one with simple swirls and wavy lines in a light gray Aurifil thread from my neutrals collection.

My Hometown by Christa Watson

I made a quilt with a house block on it. We were encouraged to make it personal so I added a wreath above the door knob as I have a wreath on my front door. It was fun and I really like your pattern as it’s very different from the standard house block quilts. Thanks for the giveaway.

Never made a house themed quilt, but it has been a consideration many times when in need of a baby quilt. Thanks for a great giveaway.

I bid on and won a group of about 25 house blocks of different sizes and designs. They were created by different people throughout the country and each block has the makers name/location attached to it. I know I want to add embroidery but haven’t begun to work out how to put them together yet. It may end up being more than one quilt!

I have not made a house themed quilt. Think they are a very cute option for an i-spy quilt and do have on my todo list.

I have never made a house quilt but there is one I have the pattern for; plaid houses set in a forest of pine trees.

I once made a shoolhouse quilt top but, it wasn’t my style and it was 20 years ago.– I should look to find that top.
these are much more modern — a little like row houses

I made my first house quilt this year and had fun with it. I love the one you designed. It would be a fun one to make too. I especially like the layout.

I have never made either a house block or a house quilt in my many, many years of quilting. I love your quilt and the variety of blocks!

My first was from Freddy Moran. I’ve made at least 2 of hers, plus her blocks in other quilts–just unearthed some old ones and putting together. Have made others align the way. Last was part of an “ugly fabric exchange challenge”–made a traditional house and an African hut.

    I had the pleasure o
f piecing a quilt top for my guild’s raffle quilt that was made up of houses and paper pieced trees. Someone even included a dog house in their block. Loads of fun!

Way back in 1999 or 2000 I made a Thimbleberries quilt that had houses on it. That quilt was on our bed for ten years and now my daughter has it on her guest bed.

I haven’t made a house quilt–although I wanted to use the Be My Neighbor pattern when I’m queen bee, but sadly can’t. I did make a single house block and sent it to Canada for a donation quilt.
