Just popping in with a fun giveaway this week! I’m excited to be the featured designer in December for Cotton Cuts, a fun business that offers all sorts of fun quilty subscription boxes. As part of this fun feature they are giving me a Modern Maker box that I get to give away to one of you (located in the US).

All you have to do to enter is leave me a comment letting me know which fabrics you prefer to work with: yardage or precuts. I’ll select a winner at random this Wednesday and notify them via email.
Thanks for reading and playing along!
I tend to purchase yardage unless I have a specific pattern that call for precuts!
I had rather use yardage, it goes faster. With that said I love the variety in using precuts.
Hi Christa!
Either would be nice but I would be happy if I won the Fat Quarters. I don’t want to be greedy but you have more options with fat quarters.

I like yardage and fat quarter bundles.
they both have their place. I have tended to lean towards yardage as I tend to use pieces that are outside the realm of precuts.
I prefer yardage, but there are many times when precuts come in handy.
Hard to pick, I like to use both I guess. Alot of times I will use both of them on a quilt.
I prefer yardage but I also use precuts at times.
I prefer yardage but I also use precuts.
love yardage. You never know when you might need it!
Newer quilter= like the variety in the precuts….
Hi Christa!
I usually work with yardage, but I love, buy and use pre-cuts as well. I’m a quilter, I love all the fabric 🙂

Precuts are great for making so many things – quilts, bags and table runners! Also a way to view a line of fabric!!
precuts. I am new to quilting so this is all I have used so far.
Hey Christa, I prefer pre cuts, unless I am working on a three yard quilt!
I love yardage….so many possibilities!
I prefer yardage. I can cut my own. I don’t seem to be able to get as much done with precuts because it seems I need different sizes than I have. Thanks for this opportunity
I really prefer yardage. I’m even trying to work through my FQ stash. There are a couple of charm pack patterns I like, but yardage is my favorite.
I usually prefer yardage but I do use precuts ocassionall.y
Usually I go with yardage. I do like precuts but I never find a pattern I like for that particular precut.
Like many others, I think that is an interesting question…All of the large quilts I have made started with panels and yardage. I like buying precuts, mainly charms and fat quarters, but have to be honest, I like looking at them all neat and tidy in their little stacks of coordinating colors. So, I guess to ‘work with’ my preference might be yardage, but to admire and drool over, definitely ‘precuts’!!!
I prefer yardage but maybe using the precuts would help me be more consistent.
Christa, thank you for such a wonderful live today! You are always so inspiring, and you are always encouraging us quilters to be exactly who we are. Thank you for being the great and wonderful person you are. I love both yardage and precuts, but I don’t have many precuts, so I guess I’m leaning that way, lol. I hope you have a fantastic week!
I love working with precuts but also I do yardage too
Yardage . . . in case I make a booboo!
Thanks for the opportunity to win!

Thank you for this offer. I usually prefer yardage but have been making more small quilts lately and often use fat quarters, too. I do keep your books close by to help me decide on the quilting, thanks for your many clever and doable ideas.
I tend to go back and forth between precuts and yardage, depending on the project. Mostly I lean towards the yardage; I love to feel the softness of the fabric in larger sizes. I do love Cotton Cuts Mystery Puzzles. I have 2 going on right now.
I prefer yardage. Right now I am working with a charm pack and the size varies by up to 1/4 inch. It is driving me crazy
I love precuts for quilts. But yardage is the best for making bags or clothes or other projects.
I tend to go back and forth, depending on the project. Mostly, I prefer yardage I think because I can feel the softness of the fabric. I do love Cotton Cuts Mystery Sew Alongs. I have 2 going on right now.
I prefer yardage as sometimes there are fabrics in a precut group that I wouldn’t have chosen.
I prefer yardage as I seem to always need extra because of a goof up on my part. Eventually I will have enough extra from my yardage to make all sorts of scrappy quilts.
I love to work with precuts because I get moving on a project faster.
I like working with precuts, though having yardage to work as a background helps tie the prints together.
I usually buy precuts but then add the yardage for the border and binding. Then again, I also love to buy just a few fabrics from a designer and add the rest myself. I love to eyeball the colors and patterns myself!
Yardage for me. I have lots.
I like to worth with both but if I had to choose, it would be precuts mostly layer cakes.
I am starting to work with more precuts.
Really, I like yardage because I prefer my quilts not to be too matchy-matchy and I can use up scraps and can use my Go Cutter as well. But I do love a good layer cake/charm square quilt in a pinch.
I love using pre-cuts because of the variety of coordinating prints in each one. Layer cakes are my favorite.
I love 1 yard and half yard bundles!
I would love to add this to my stash for more “scrappy” quilts!!!
Unfortunately, I have too much of a stash to not use up with additional yardage as needed. Also a lot of the precuts have some patterns that are just not ME. However, I can’t say that for most of your more geometric sets. That being said, if I had to start over today, I think I might use more precuts for less waste.
I have a lot of precuts so I think some yardage might be good
I prefer FQ bundles, but can always find a way to use the other precuts!
yardage
I also had to think about this. While I love the ease and precision and choice of a precut, especially cakes, I do love to have yardage of things it usually brings my creativity (or ADHD alive) and who doesn’t love to have a bit of extra to come up with new twists on an old pattern:)
I prefer yardage but have loads of precuts. They are so pretty!
PRECUTS are my go to’s because I’m not good at matching colors and prints. With precuts everything is already put together for me.
yardage
I like to work with yardage as well as pre-cuts, but I think I tend to work more with yardage. Both are great. All depends on the project, fabric and my stash, or what inspires me when I’m shopping.
As I scrolled through the comments it seems as though this question was a dilemma for most of us. I love precuts, but in reality, I purchase more yardage. Therefore, I suspect my fabric of choice is yardage.
