Cotton Cuts Giveaway Box

Just popping in with a fun giveaway this week! I’m excited to be the featured designer in December for Cotton Cuts, a fun business that offers all sorts of fun quilty subscription boxes. As part of this fun feature they are giving me a Modern Maker box that I get to give away to one of you (located in the US).

All you have to do to enter is leave me a comment letting me know which fabrics you prefer to work with: yardage or precuts. I’ll select a winner at random this Wednesday and notify them via email.

Thanks for reading and playing along!

    Hi Christa!

Either would be nice but I would be happy if I won the Fat Quarters. I don’t want to be greedy but you have more options with fat quarters.

they both have their place. I have tended to lean towards yardage as I tend to use pieces that are outside the realm of precuts.

    Hi Christa!

I usually work with yardage, but I love, buy and use pre-cuts as well. I’m a quilter, I love all the fabric 🙂

Precuts are great for making so many things – quilts, bags and table runners! Also a way to view a line of fabric!!

I prefer yardage. I can cut my own. I don’t seem to be able to get as much done with precuts because it seems I need different sizes than I have. Thanks for this opportunity

I really prefer yardage. I’m even trying to work through my FQ stash. There are a couple of charm pack patterns I like, but yardage is my favorite.

Like many others, I think that is an interesting question…All of the large quilts I have made started with panels and yardage. I like buying precuts, mainly charms and fat quarters, but have to be honest, I like looking at them all neat and tidy in their little stacks of coordinating colors. So, I guess to ‘work with’ my preference might be yardage, but to admire and drool over, definitely ‘precuts’!!!

Christa, thank you for such a wonderful live today! You are always so inspiring, and you are always encouraging us quilters to be exactly who we are. Thank you for being the great and wonderful person you are. I love both yardage and precuts, but I don’t have many precuts, so I guess I’m leaning that way, lol. I hope you have a fantastic week!

Thank you for this offer. I usually prefer yardage but have been making more small quilts lately and often use fat quarters, too. I do keep your books close by to help me decide on the quilting, thanks for your many clever and doable ideas.

I tend to go back and forth between precuts and yardage, depending on the project. Mostly I lean towards the yardage; I love to feel the softness of the fabric in larger sizes. I do love Cotton Cuts Mystery Puzzles. I have 2 going on right now.

I prefer yardage as I seem to always need extra because of a goof up on my part. Eventually I will have enough extra from my yardage to make all sorts of scrappy quilts.

I usually buy precuts but then add the yardage for the border and binding. Then again, I also love to buy just a few fabrics from a designer and add the rest myself. I love to eyeball the colors and patterns myself!

Really, I like yardage because I prefer my quilts not to be too matchy-matchy and I can use up scraps and can use my Go Cutter as well. But I do love a good layer cake/charm square quilt in a pinch.

Unfortunately, I have too much of a stash to not use up with additional yardage as needed. Also a lot of the precuts have some patterns that are just not ME. However, I can’t say that for most of your more geometric sets. That being said, if I had to start over today, I think I might use more precuts for less waste.

I also had to think about this. While I love the ease and precision and choice of a precut, especially cakes, I do love to have yardage of things it usually brings my creativity (or ADHD alive) and who doesn’t love to have a bit of extra to come up with new twists on an old pattern:)

PRECUTS are my go to’s because I’m not good at matching colors and prints. With precuts everything is already put together for me.

I like to work with yardage as well as pre-cuts, but I think I tend to work more with yardage. Both are great. All depends on the project, fabric and my stash, or what inspires me when I’m shopping.

As I scrolled through the comments it seems as though this question was a dilemma for most of us. I love precuts, but in reality, I purchase more yardage. Therefore, I suspect my fabric of choice is yardage.
