I didn’t get a chance to attend Fall Quilt Market in Houston this weekend because I’m home judiciously revamping my sewing room. However, I just found out a little piece of me is there. 🙂
Thanks so much to my BQF (best quilting friend) Stacy who snapped this picture of my Chevron Quilt while she was there and emailed it to me. (Can we say jealous?) I had no idea it would be on display so this is a pleasant surprise! I was kind of wondering when they’d mail it back to me after the issue was published, but now I’m completely happy to wait a few more days, knowing it’s getting a little more exposure.
Seeing it paired up next to the blown up cover shot gives me a thought – is it ok to change the name of one’s quilt after it’s been “christened”? I originally named it Colorful Chevrons, but lately I’ve been referring to it as Quilty Chevrons in honor of the magazine, and to help me keep track of which chevron design I’m referring to.
I plan on entering this quilt into shows in the future and using it as teaching sample, so the name Quilty Chevrons is kind of growing on me. What do you think?
By the way, for those of you who are new to my blog, you can read more about the quilting of this quilt here, and enter my giveaway to win a free copy of the magazine here.
You can be sure I’m not missing market next time around, and you can quote me on that!
Updated – I have to give a big shout out to another of my BQF’s Denise, who talked the gals from the booth into sending me the poster sized cover shot. Won’t that look great in my new sewing room?!
Saw your “Quilty Chevrons” at Market. Beautiful and so well done. Congrats. It was my first time at Market and completely overwhelming and wonderful.
That’s just awesome. Good for you!
Quilty Chevrons has my vote!!
I just love your Quilty Chevrons!! I would change the name too! It has a ring to it! How exciting to have a quilt shown at the Quilt Market and not even know about it beforehand. The quilt is gorgeous and should be shown to as many people as possible. Great work Christa!! Happy quilting!
It must be fun and rewarding to see your hard work recognized. Congratulations. Renaming is fine, but you got some good advise from Lois . Once again it is fun to follow you and your accomplishments.
It’s a great compliment to associate with the magazine (and for them to be able to associate with you), and the quilt is wonderful. I have worked at the legal end of a different kind of business. It may sound silly now, but I would suggest consulting with Quilty and discussion with other trusted resources. You may protect your own business and theirs by considering what the future results may be regarding trademarking and continuing to be associated with the magazine. I hope you see this not as a skeptical comment, but as a practical one.
You definitely deserve to have your quilt displayed for real! Will it be at Houston’s quilt festival this next week? II will be looking for it! Congratulations! See, hard work DOES pay off! 🙂
Congratulations!! I love Quilty Chevrons and I love the name. Colorful Chevrons is so obvious and I prefer the shorter and more playful “quilty” to the serious “colorful”.
I live in Houston and plan to be at the Festival 3 days- 2 days taking classes and one day shopping and quilt gazing. I’ll be looking for your quilt! What fun to see it in person!
Every time I see this quilt I like it more!
I prefer the name quilty chevrons than your first name.
Congrats. So very cool to have it at market. Either name works so use the one you like the most. I’m looking for a copy of the magazine here so I can have one too.
I think you should name the quilt Quilty Chevron and congratulations to having your quilt on the cover of Quilty 🙂 such an honor and yes toot your own horn so well deserved and good luck to all for the giveaway ( thanks Christa)…
Whatever you call it, we will still love it! I am definitely buying that issue, and hope I can attempt to make it. It is so much more brilliant “in person” than it shows on that cover. Just beautiful. Can’t wait to see your re-vamped sewing room. I just love new decor “reveals”. 🙂
Love the new name – it’s a nice ‘nod’ to Quilty for putting it on the front page of their magazine too!
Congratulations! What a great photo to have. Your quilt is amazing, no matter what you choose to call it. People change their own names all the time, so I hardly think renaming a quilt will cause a revolution. Although if it did, that’d be fascinating. Perhaps a good plot opener to a tongue-in-cheek book about the world of quilting…
I think you can do whatever you want. It’s your quilt! It would be a connection for people taking the class IF they are aware of the magazine.
I think you should still keep the Colorful Chevron name.
Your quilt, your choice to rename it.
Once again….congrats are in order! Christa, you are now famous. Can I say I knew you when? This quilt NEVER gets old.
Ha ha – I always feel a little weird tooting my own horn. I like other people to toot for me, LOL!!
