I have never used a layer cake. I think a solid one would be great for paper piecing
I’ve never owned a Layer Cake before, but I know they’d be wonderful for “filler” when cut down to 5-inch charm squares which I use a lot. Thanks for the chance!
I’ve never used a layer cake before, but I would love to cut into these solids to make some pinwheels I’ve had in mind for a while!
I normally don’t know what to do with layer cakes but a fabric manufacturer gave our guild tons of layer cakes of the dotty fabric. I took five packs and made “plus” signs, interlocking for a project Linus quilt. I’m thinking of tieing it instead of machine quilting it.
I have several Edyta Sitar paterns, and books which I want to make quilts from. Those beautiful charm packs look like the perfect way to start! Thank you for the giveaway.
I am very new to quilting so a layer cake was something I thought was a fancy cake… I can see how this type of layer cake would be handy in a quilt!
Wow, that sounds awesome. I would love to have this set of fabrics–I would probably use them to enhance some printed fabrics I have–it looks like they would go together perfectly. Then I would have to look for a new and exciting pattern and probably make a sampler quilt, I love them!
I have make a couple of quilt tops from layer cakes using patterns from a pre-cut book I have.
The last Layer Cake project I did I was on a fabric diet and had to cut my own squares. Not an issue, but it would be nice to have one on-hand. I often trim some of my fabrics so I have my own for scrappy projects.
Right now I’m having such fun making a quilt from Carrie Nelson’s “Another Bite of Schnibbles” using 5″ charm squares, that I would use it in one of her 10″ layer cakes patterns. What an awesome book! And an awesome givewaway! I love neutrals.
My favourite plain fabric color is ‘snow’. If I win I plan to use the layer cake in a new Christmas quilt.
I love to use the snow with my pink scraps to make some half square triangle table runners. Love a quick project from time to time.
I have some floral charm packs that I would love to use for a disappearing 4-patch. The layer cake of solids would make that possible.
Christa I make big block quilts with the layer cake then I appliqué a design on it.
This layer cake would nicely fill in some gaps of my still rather small fabric stash. Kind of new to this world of quilting – and loving it more than I ever imagined. Reading blogs and seeing what other quilters are doing with their fabrics makes my creative juices flow. It has been a great way to spend this rather wicked winter. Can’t wait to mow my lawn again. Heck, I’d be happy just to see bare grass of any kind. 🙂

The last time I used a layer cake it was to make a chevron quilt. This time around I’d still go with HSTs, but would play around with a more random pattern.
I would use them in a project with / for some of my students who had a national math competition yesterday about patchwork of all things. Of course I brought some ” stuff” to show them before the competition started. I promissed them that the prettiest design they would come up with, I would turn into a mini quilt.

The last quilt I made with a layer cake was a quilt with a square in the middle with a contrasting frame. It turned out very well.
I would cut them up for a baby quilt… or two.
I don’t often use precut, but I have a charity project these would be perfect for. A group of friends and I are making small quilts and blankets for at the cats and puppies at out local animal shelter. I could mix these up with scraps and remnants and make some critters really happy.

I think it would be a great background for a number of different blocks in a quilt.
As it is a snow layer cake, I may possibly make the snowball block and make a winter table runner.

Have never had a Layer Cake…or solids…even in Charms! Lol…but admit to bein’ newer quilter. Not sure what I would make, would be checkin online for pattern, videos & books! 🙂

A snow layer cake will blend with just about anything! I keep those handy and they have come in very handy! Thanks for the opportunity to win.
I’ve never used the color snow before, but I’ve heard a lot of people say it’s the best color. I’ve hot some cute prints to test that out!

Hard to say but I’ve got a pile of patterns I’ve been dying to get at!
I’ve never had a layer cake, so I’ve never really thought about what to do with them! If I won this one (fingers crossed), I’d go look up patterns on pinterest probably!
10 inch squares are great for making quick pinwheels/half square triangles. Sew 2 together on every side of the square then cut on the diagonals.
Have a Layer Cake Sampler QAL that I’ll be starting soon and I need a solid Layer Cake..and this would work great!!

I would love to use this pack on the background of a fall wall hanging that I have planned. The leaves would look amazing on this background.
I like to cut a layer cake in half, then cut one half in half again to make 5″ squares, and with printed fabrics I will cut the 1 set of 5″ squares into 2.5″ mini charm squares. Giving me a big selection of pre-cuts to play with. I have never bought a solid color before though.
I just watched a bunch of tutorials on You Tube using charms and layer cakes. I think it would be fun to make a quick and easy table runner. Love the giveaway, using 1 and leaving 41. That’s great. You are so fun
