I love machine applique. You can use it for so many items: quilts (of course), pillows, clothing, towels.

Applique is one of many tools in the quilting tool box. Love ’em all.
I’m on the fence regarding machine applique. I’ve done it in the past…before quilting even.. and feel pretty comfortable with it. Definitely not pro level, but still. My favorite method is apply with web interface and a very tight zigzag to cover the edges. I tool Sarah Fielke’s class on Craftsy.com and have tried turn under applique. I did enjoy that and have tried that a few times.

I dislike doing any appliqué. Love the way it looks though and have a deep regard for people who can pull it off!
Applique is NOT something I enjoy. I have done some with my machine, using a stitch to mimic buttonhole stitching. A couple of times I used clear thread and was pleased with the outcome. So, I can do it, I just prefer not to.
I love machine applique as it adds more dimension, effects and color to a quilt. So many more possibilities… Would love to try aurafil threads as I have heard so much about them. Thanks!

I have just tried machine applique for the first time a couple of weeks ago. It is not a scary as I anticipated!!

I haven’t done a lot of either machine of hand applique, but I do like a quick result so probably favor machine over hand 😉
I’ve tried machine applique only once, and never by hand. I think I was using the wrong thing to adhere the appliques before stitching – my needle kept getting gummed-up. I’d like to try again someday – maybe after I get through some of my UFOs.
I only do machine appliqué because I’m too clumsy and impatient to do it by hand. I love combining the appliqué pieces with different thread colors to make it shine.

I love machine appliqué. It’s easy and fun to do. I also do my own free motion quilting. To me, it’s relaxing because it just “flows” along.
I took a class at my LQS to learn machine applique and took a trip when the second (and last) class was scheduled. So, my pieces are all cut and ready to sew…I just need to get up the gumption to do it on my own. I would love to win the threads…they just might inspire me to get moving on my project!
I love machine appliqué. I also do needle turn appliqué but it takes so much longer and I think my. Machine does a better job.
I would love to learn how to machine applique because I think this technique adds a whole new level to quilting. However, I can’t seem to get my machine to cooperate! No matter how hard I try, all the stitches I’ve tried for applique get all bunched up and look absolutely terrible. I need to take the machine in to the store where I purchased it. I essentially paid about $700 for a sewing machine that sews forward and in reverse!! Not good!!
I don’t know if you will read this, but your machine just might need a different foot, my basic singer has a special applique foot that I bought so that it holds down the fabric better, plus if you haven’t already make sure to use a stabilizer on the back of your fabric, that helps a lot to.
I am kinda inbetween on machine quilting I love doing hand tying myself.

I think machine applique is wonderful- so speedy and efficient compared to hand applique, although that has its place, too. I just wish i was better at it!
I haven’t done enough applique to really comment, but I have a WIP that includes machine applique. I’m assembling all blocks first before I start the appliquéing! Probably not the best idea!
This project will be my first applique experience. I am looking forward to trying something new!
I have done a little machine applique. When I was working out county fair we had sewing machines set up to invite others to watch us sew and demo things. One of the groups that makes charity quilts brought a whole bunch of fun circles to applique and I ironed them down and did decorative stitches around them. So many people loved these. It makes me want to do a whole quilt.
I am an in-between person on machine applique. I actually like hand applique, but when time is an issue, machine will do.

I guess I cheat a little, when I can I use my embroidery software and machine to do my applique for me. When that’s not an option, I like to machine applique. Thanks for the giveaway. I love aurifil thread.

Honestly, I’ve never tried machine appliqué, so I couldn’t give a viable opinion.
So, I guess that makes my favorite method of appliqué hand appliqué.

Machine applique… I can do it, but don’t use it very often. The two organizations for which I make quilt tops, do not really require applique, so mostly I would use the thread for piecing and machine quilting. I LOVE Aurifil thread and would have one of every single color if I could justify spending the money!!

I haven’t done it enough to have an opinion. But, I have to confess that I’ve done enough to get frustrated! LOL. I just need to do (practice) more and then decide if it is worth the effort or not or not.
I love the look of machine applique but it takes so long and I get impatient! I need to get better at it so I can go a little faster.
I think machine applique has a place in my heart. It’s much faster than other methods and can be very functional. I still love the look of needle turn. So, I guess I’m some where in the middle.
