Christa’s Giveaway – Aurifil Thread Bundle

It’s time for another giveaway! As with all of the giveaways I’m hosting during my Abacus Quilt Along, you do not have to follow along to participate in the giveaway. Everyone is welcome to comment and enter for a chance to win.

abacus_aurifil_threadBeautiful Aurifil threads I used in my version of Abacus.

Up for grabs this week: A bundle of beautiful 50 weight Aurifil cotton threads! One lucky winner will receive 8 small spools of the same exact colors I used for the machine applique on Abacus; plus a large spool of the same grey I used for the machine quilting.

Click here for a listing of the exact colors of threads and fabrics I chose.

Machine quilting is my favorite part of making any quilt – it’s quick, easy, and fun!

To enter, simply leave a comment letting me know what you think about machine applique! Do you love it or hate it? Or are you somewhere in between? You can also mention your favorite method of applique if you like. 🙂

Good luck!

I enjoy doing machine appliqué whether it is fusible raw edge or turned edge. I love it even more when I have threads that match the fabrics I am using to make it appear even more invisible.

I just did some of my first machine applique last year on quilts for my grand kids. It’s fun and looks awesome! I like to hand applique also. It’s all so pretty! 🙂 Thanks so much for your generous giveaway! 🙂

I’ve only been doing machine applique by machine for just over a year and I must say that it was LOVE at the first stitch! I used to do all my applique by hand but now it’s about 50/50. Machine applique certainly goes faster!

Love those Aurifil colors. I have quite a few but none in this colorway. Thanks for the opportunity to win them!

I just love to hand appliqué and always have an appliqué piece on the go. I find it is relaxing in front of the TV or when I’m travelling.

Only done a limited amount of machine applique but I’m sure I would love to do some hand applique. Seems like it would be a very creative “next step” for me! Thanks for the awesome giveaway! akronne17 at gmail dot com

My favourite thing about machine appliqué? The fact that my hand appliqué is so dreadful, that in comparison, the machine version is so much better, so much faster, and there’s so much less swearing required!!!

Every time I see a quilt I want to make that has applique, I think I will do it by machine. But then as I collect the fabrics I decide to do hand applique instead. I just like the look of the hand applique more than I like machine applique.

I love aurifil thread and had been using it for years for hand sewing because I like how thin it is and then I started using it for piecing and quilting on the machine. As for appliqué which I do on my machine somedays it just goes perfect and I have no problems and other times not so good. I use a blanket stitch for all my machine appliqué and have learned to slow down and some days to just walk away from it too. I do like that I can match any fabric with a spool of aurifil thread.

I love machine appliqué but I sometimes try hand appliqué, I’m just not that great with the hand appliqué. Great colors of Aurifil, I’d be thrilled to try it, I’ve heard so many wonderful reviews. Thank you, Toni Anne

I’m fairly new to quilting, so haven’t had much experience with applique. I enjoyed making the only four fusible applique cornerstones I’ve ever made. I have no experience with hand applique

I have not tried any applique projects yet, but I certainly do love the look of it. I think I would quite enjoy machine applique, and can’t wait to try it out!

I love applique. It doesn’t matter to me if it’s machine, hand stitched, reverse etc it’s all good. Each of them has their use for different projects and different effects.

I enjoy applique – I have used the raw edge and scribble type black stitching around the edges, and I use my mini blanket machine stitch on other pieces – also like hand applique but don’t have the time to do that much.
