I’m Off to Market – and Ready for a Giveaway!

I’m headed off to the trade show, the International Quilt Market in Houston, Texas. Jason and I have a strategy for the show – he will be the planner, setting up appointments to meet with our vendors, organizing our budget for new precuts, and making sure we both eat and rest well.

amybutler_meIt’s fun to meet up with “Sew”-lebrities at Quilt Market!

I’ll get to do the “fun” stuff – rub shoulders with quilting celebrities, meet up with online friends, and attend presentations from some of the top designers in the industry. Jason told me he’s perfectly happy to stay out of the limelight while attending to business, so together we’ll make a great team!

I’m sure I’ll pick up a bunch of freebies while I’m there, so I thought for this week’s giveaway, I’ll offer up a mystery bag full of market SWAG!! Be sure to follow me on instagram @christaquilts starting on Friday for some sneak peeks!

20141020_market_pinTo enter, just leave a comment telling me what you would want to do if you attended market, or who’s new designer lines you’d love to see!

The giveaway will remain open through Monday, Oct. 27th at midnight Pacific Time. I’ll draw a winner’s name at random sometime Tuesday morning (after I’ve recovered from the trip) and will mention it on the blog later that day.

Have a happy quilting weekend!

I’ve never been to such an event so getting to see where you go and what you see will be fun! If I were to attend I guess the first thing would be to check out venders to see new products then find the classes!

I would definitely look at quilts for ideas and inspiration. Internet browsing is fine but its nothing like in person right. Someday I’ll visit the quilt market, God willing.

Hmmm. I’m not sure what I would want to do first. Usually at quilt shows I go up one vendor aisle and down the next. The booth displays inspire me design-wise as well as color-wise. The newest gadgets and patterns always deserve a look-see. And the fabrics? Let’s face it — I would want to see everything!

Enjoy every minute! Jason is certainly showing that he is a keeper! I would love to attend the Schoolhouse events, and look at all of the samples of quilts, table runners, pillows – made with the brand new fabrics.

I’ve never been so I know I would be awestruck. I love Tula Pink, Kate Spain, Pat Sloan and so many others, The Sisters. Where would I even start? Edyta Star, Judy Niemyer, Jenny Byer, I’d feel like I was in heaven. Then all the great tools and gadgets. The new patterns would throw me in overload, not to mention all the books. Have fun and enjoy yourself. I would guess you need sneakers and bottles of water.

Have fun at the market. I think I would just ponder from one booth to the other and just be overwhelemed of everything and all the inspiration I see. It would be great to get to chat with some designers and just see all the lines.

Well, I’d probably spend a lot of time just wandering around and staring. Then, I’d be on the lookout for my favourite bloggers so that I could say hello and tell them how much I appreciate their blogs, tutorials, and general guidance. I wouldn’t be quilting the things that I am now without their help.

I am sooo excited to be attending my 1st quilt show ever in Houston this month! I looked at the vendor list and don’t see you listed? What is your booth number please I would love to see your booth & maybe meet you. I don’t think I’ll get to see everything as I’m handicapped in my back & my feet so would appreciate it if you’d email me your booth info.

Well darn it, I so wanted to meet you. You were the 1st blogger that I won something from…the ONLY one that I have won from for that matter. Well have fun as I’m sure I will as long as my back will hold out, look for the “plump” lady walking hunched over with her husband close by with bags of things purchased or empty bags waiting to be filled lol.

I am SO excited for you!! I will be living vicariously through you and your Instagram feed. I hope you have lots of fun and that you have a great pair of comfy shoes to get you through Market. If I were going I would probably be running around squealing and hugging everyone I know “online” and they would probably be reporting me to security for personal space violation. I’d be an introverts worst nightmare come true. I also would spend an inordinate amount of time stalking Tula Pink, as well as the AGF crew.

    HAVE FUN!!!!!

Back to reality, I would just love to see everything everyone brought and check out all the over-the-top booths everyone has!!
