I’m headed off to the trade show, the International Quilt Market in Houston, Texas. Jason and I have a strategy for the show – he will be the planner, setting up appointments to meet with our vendors, organizing our budget for new precuts, and making sure we both eat and rest well.
It’s fun to meet up with “Sew”-lebrities at Quilt Market!
I’ll get to do the “fun” stuff – rub shoulders with quilting celebrities, meet up with online friends, and attend presentations from some of the top designers in the industry. Jason told me he’s perfectly happy to stay out of the limelight while attending to business, so together we’ll make a great team!
I’m sure I’ll pick up a bunch of freebies while I’m there, so I thought for this week’s giveaway, I’ll offer up a mystery bag full of market SWAG!! Be sure to follow me on instagram @christaquilts starting on Friday for some sneak peeks!
To enter, just leave a comment telling me what you would want to do if you attended market, or who’s new designer lines you’d love to see!
The giveaway will remain open through Monday, Oct. 27th at midnight Pacific Time. I’ll draw a winner’s name at random sometime Tuesday morning (after I’ve recovered from the trip) and will mention it on the blog later that day.
Have a happy quilting weekend!
I love the colors of Kafe Fassett and also designs by Amy Butler.
I would love to see what’s new and think of all the new projects I can think of!
If I were to go to Market…..I would not miss an inch. My plan is to loop down each aisle….both sides completely and arriving at the end with visions of masterpieces buzzing in my head, turn around and go back through each aisle walking in the opposite direction……blissfully in awe!
It would be so amazing to meet people and just see the new fabric coming out. I think I would just wander around in a daze.
Gloria Wall of Kate & Birdie, Kate Spain, Tula Pink, and the Moda booth! And to check out the tools, etc.!
Used to LOVE market! If I went this week I’d hunt for the Kona Cotton fabric color chart/booklet. They’ve been out of it for far too long and I NEED it. I used to like to hang on till the show was about to close and pick up stuff at bargain prices to lighten the vendors return loads. Those were the days…
I’d be able to cross market off my bucket list. Would live to meet designers I follow like Kate Spain.
Honestly, if I were to go to quilt market, I’d probably be too star struck to actually talk to any fabric designers. I’d probably just stand there gobsmacked and admire all the new and exciting fabric. Oh, and of course, pet the fabric where permitted! 🙂
There’s so many talented people at Market! Enjoy and I’ll be following your exploits on IG!
I’m loving the Ella Blue fabrics out of Australia. I’m hoping to meet up with you at Quilt Festival because I really need some bobbins for my Juki TL2010. See you there.
If I could go to Market I would love to wander around, dream, buy cute fabric and meet loads of wonderful quilters like myself!!
I’m a “tool” junkie. If I was at market, I would check out all the new tools (notions, rulers, rotary cutters, templates and patterns). I love all that stuff (and have too much already). Thanks for a great mystery giveaway. Have fun at Market.
Amy butler, of course! And I would go nuts for the sample spree. That sounds like the most fun ever. Thanks for the giveaway.
I know I sound like a suck up, but I would try to find you Christa. Since I have been following your blog, you have been an inspiration. I would also hope Kaffe Fassett would be there. I here he is quite the character in person. The Moda booth would be a fun place to drool, and the list goes on and on…..a girl can dream can’t she?
Oh my goodness, there are so many wonderful designers. I would love a little of all of them. Hope you have a fabulous time.
I would drool at the Amy Butler booth!
I would run around like mad woman. I think the first time I would just take it all in and then the next time GAME ON.
I’d soak in all the new quilt designs. Best of luck in adhering to your budget…what a challenge! svonfumetti at yahoo dot com
Enjoy your time! If I ever got a chance, I would be thrilled to meet Tula Pink, her creativity amazes me!
I would love to see Lotta Jansdotter’s new collection and browse through all the new books coming out! Those books provide such inspiration! Have a great time!
I had a chance to go with a friend who owns a quilt shop. So exciting but, alas, I needed to be at my daughter’s house so a painter could paint the new nursery. Second grandbaby due in four weeks. I know that is more important than market. Maybe next year. I look for Michael Miller’s fabric and anything new Moda has.
To go to Market would be a dream come true. I love so many of the designers lines it really is hard to pick just one, but I would love to meet Camilla Roskelley.
I love Melanie Testa’s “Meadowlark” line! One of these years I’ll make it to that market…..a definite dream of mine!!! Just to say “Hi!” to all my bloggy friends!!! Enjoy your time for me, too!!!
Wishing you a fun and business-building time at market. I would enjoy seeing all of the new projects and products. New time-saving ideas would be a favorite of mine.
I would love to attend the Schoolhouse sessions and Sample Spree! Thanks for sharing some of the excitement of Market with us.
Seriously, Christa? I would be blown away with all the beautiful fabrics and the hubbub! I would love every minute… but most of all? I’d want to meet YOU and, of course, Stephanie from Modern Sewciety, because she tells their stories! I
Pretty sure I’d be swooning at the Moda booth. And since i’ve been working with Sweetwater fabric, I’d go drool at their new collection and quilts.

I w old look for fun tools such as ruler. Purple thing or clips. Definitely look for fabric
I would love to meet the reps from the fabric companies and learn what it takes to develop an idea for a fabric to actually seeing the final product. I like a lot of different lines, so to see all of them in one area would be an absolute dream! Have fun!
Thank you,
I would just love to go and of course have fun.
I’d love to meet you! And see Joel Dewberry’s new line. Have fun!
I think it would be fun to see that much fabric in one place! How inspiring! And what a test of budget willpower. Enjoy!
Me, I would just love to be at Market and see it all! Mary Ann
Amy Butler’s designs have always been a favorite so meeting her would be a must. Thanks for the giveaway.
I really like the new Cotton and Steel line. To see all those designers would be a hoot! I have been to the quilt show in Houston and it is so impressive. I would love to be able to attend the market before the “show”
I’m not focused on just one designer so any of them would be great to meet. Have fun at Market. =)
I would love to meet Kate Spain and Amy Butler. Have a wonderful time! Thanks for the giveaway!
Have a safe trip Christa. It sounds like you and Jason will be a great team. I hope you both have an amazing time and get lots of orders/appointments, and of course, have a lot of fun.
If I were lucky enough to go, to be totally honest, I would want to see it all! I’d have Schoolhouse, Sample Spree on my list for sure. I’d love to see all the new fabric lines and notions. I would definitely want to see Barb and Mary from Me and My Sister for sure, Julie from Jaybird Quilts, actually I’d have a long list of all those I’d want to meet and say hi to, and of course, you, Christa would also be on my must meet list. I’d also love to see all the different booths everyone has worked so hard at creating to show off all their new fabric collections. Just being able to see all the new fabrics in person rather than seeing them all online would be such fun.
Going to Market would be a dream. I actually looked up flight prices before coming back to reality! I would love to be able to actually meet sewlebrities and actually see the new fabrics and designs in person. Plus, all the fancy gadgets I only see on the internet, it would be awesome to see them in person. Have fun!!
I would love to meet the Sweetwater girls. I love their fabric lines. There are so many that I think would be fun to meet. Amy Gibson is another one.
Who wouldn’t want to pet new fabric lines? I think I’d like to meet Jo Morton, recently I’ve been drawn to those rich looking fabrics!
Oh there’s no way I can pick just one thing or person I’d like to meet. It would be the thrill of a lifetime!
I think I would just oooh and aaaahhh at all the beautiful fabrics. And I’d love meeting all the people that I read about! We live in Houston so I’m hoping to get to the Festival after market- between helping one pregnant daughter unpack at her new house and attending a bridal shower for my soon to be daughter in law. They didn’t check my calendar! Have fun!
I’d want to see all the new fabric lines & new quilting tools & gadgets. My 3 sisters & I are getting together in Houston for the Quilt Festival, so maybe we’ll still get to see that. Thanks.
I would love to see all the new lines in person. The internet doesn’t do them justice some times! I have a variety of favorite designers, but I have a feeling that the list would grow if I were to attend Market!
It would be awesome to attend,. I would be drawn to fabrics in my color zone. I’d check out new tools, gadgets and patterns. And try to absorb everything. What fun.
How exciting! I would be like a kid in a candy store…wanting to see it ALL!
i’d love to meet you — and denyse schmidt! and all the other great designers.
Hi Christa! Enjoy and have fun in the Market! I don’t know what I would do there because haven’t had ever chance to visit. I’m still sure that all the time I would be there wouldn’t be enough to see and enjoy everything! Thank you for sharing the mystery bag! x Teje
