I’m headed off to the trade show, the International Quilt Market in Houston, Texas. Jason and I have a strategy for the show – he will be the planner, setting up appointments to meet with our vendors, organizing our budget for new precuts, and making sure we both eat and rest well.
It’s fun to meet up with “Sew”-lebrities at Quilt Market!
I’ll get to do the “fun” stuff – rub shoulders with quilting celebrities, meet up with online friends, and attend presentations from some of the top designers in the industry. Jason told me he’s perfectly happy to stay out of the limelight while attending to business, so together we’ll make a great team!
I’m sure I’ll pick up a bunch of freebies while I’m there, so I thought for this week’s giveaway, I’ll offer up a mystery bag full of market SWAG!! Be sure to follow me on instagram @christaquilts starting on Friday for some sneak peeks!
To enter, just leave a comment telling me what you would want to do if you attended market, or who’s new designer lines you’d love to see!
The giveaway will remain open through Monday, Oct. 27th at midnight Pacific Time. I’ll draw a winner’s name at random sometime Tuesday morning (after I’ve recovered from the trip) and will mention it on the blog later that day.
Have a happy quilting weekend!
Not sure if I already entered but I would enter as soon as it opened and stay until it closed every day – I would try and see as much as I possibly could – LOVE to meet Tula Pink – love her fabrics/

The first thing that I would do is to see the Astronaut Quilt because I contributed a block. I hope that someone posts a picture of it.
If I were at Market, I would soak up all the incredible inspiration I could before coming home. For fabric collections, I am really excited for Maureen Cracknell’s gorgeous collection.
Just to see the upcoming products.
I so wish I had the opportunity to go! I would have LOVED to see Eleanor Burns from Quilt in a Day, your fabulous self and Amy Smart from Diary of a Quilter. The two new lines of fabric I am DIEING over are the Derby from Melissa with Riley Blake and then Maureen Cracknell new line as well! They are yummy!
Going to a market would be so exciting. I would see as much as I could, look for quilting celebrities like yourself, Eleanor, Fons and Porter, Alex Anderson and Ricky Tims, etc. Also love Moda and Hoffman fabrics, so would be looking for those exhibits. I would be like a kid in a candy store!
I would definitely be looking at the quilts! But I would really like to take part in the Sample Spree. And of course some of the Schoolhouse sessions. I envy you for getting to go.
I went last year. It was amazing. This year I wish I could see the red and white exhibit. Have a great time.
I would love to go to Quilt Market and soak it ALL in- I would enjoy all the amazing quilts and stop by to see all the new Sweetwater and Bonnie & Camille.
i would definitely take at least six laps around the entire market 😉. Moda and Aurifil booths for sure; Laundry Basket Quilts. Probably Barbara Brackman as well.
I would wander the quilt displays. They are very inspirational. I would also like to see anything new from Sweetwater.
Frankly, I think I would just wander around in a daze, trying to get over the fact that I was really there. (Much like the first time I went to San Diego Comic Con…) But I’d like to think that I’d use my time there to be inspired and eager to create my own wonderful items out of all the new patterns and fabrics.
Moda School would be a “must see” as would Sample Spree …. would definitely allocate time to see booths by Bunny Hill Fabrics, Laundry Basket Quilts and the Moda Precuts too. Love your blog, looking forward to seeing your photos.
I would love to visit the booths and get lots of new ideas and see all the new fabrics. I’d definitely take lots of pictures. And I couldn’t come home without doing a little shopping as well.
I would touch everything at market. I would like to see Tula Pink’s booth. Thanks for the chance.
I would be in 7th heaven. Just seeing all the wonderful quilts, patterns, fabrics, colors and styles. I wouldn’t know whisk end to start at. I would have to be very careful as I would want a lot of the new fabrics.
I would love to just wander around from booth to booth looking at all the new fabric lines and seeing all the projects created with the new lines.
To tell you the truth I would love to attend just one time. I think it would be such an adventure to meet and greet designers, see all the new fabric coming out and just have that awesome feeling of being part of the most awesome group out there…which I think are quilters….isn’t it a wonderful feeling….Have a super fun time.
So many things to see and do. I would love to see all the booths. I hear so many of them are decorated in eye-catching ways. I would love to meet Carrie Nelson, Jenny Doan, and Camille Roskelly to name a few. And let’s not forget the wonderful fabric. I guess I will live vicariously through others blogs that are there.
Oh I’m so jealous of everyone getting to attend market. I so hope to be able to do that one day soon myself. If that ever happens, I would be working hard to get my to-be-released patterns out to the distributors and shop owners and make industry contacts for future projects.
I would look at the designers’ quilts for inspiration.
If I went to Quilt Market I would just love to walk around and look at all the quilts, and meet all the designers that I have “met” online in person. Sample spree would be fun, but maybe too chaotic for me. Schoolhouse would be something I would absolutely love to do also. cdahlgren at live dot com
I would love to be at Sample Spree! And I’d love to see what Cotton & Steel has at Market.
The cotton and steel lines look amazing and Doe looks awesome as well! I think market would be overwhelming!
I would love to see all the new lines coming out by Joel Dewberry, Heather Bailey, Cotton & Steel, etc. I would also like to attend some Schoolhouse sessions about new techniques and gadgets.
I have no idea what a market is like, but I will be going to the International Quilt Festival next weekend and am looking forward to the quilts and browsing through all the vendors.
I think it would be so fun to tag along to market!!!!
oh boy!!! I’d run straight to Tuna Pink’s, Carolyn Friedlander’s, and Bonnie and Camille! Then ALL of the school houses, and Moda for the colors, colors, colors! XX!
I would want to do and see EVERYTHING! I love Carolyn Friedlander and would have headed straight for Doe. It is so exciting, hope you have a wonderful time!
Sample Spree has always sounded exciting to me so I would definitely want to attend that. I would love to visit the booths of my favorite designers: Anne Sutton, Carrie Nelson, Joann Figueroa, Julie Herman, and Bonnie and Camille.
I would want to attend sample spree and every schoolhouse there is. I’d also want to see all the new patterns, notions and fabric lines. I don’t think there’s enough time in the day but I would have fun trying to hit everything.
I’d be interested in seeing hand dyed fabric by anyone (Ricky Tims) and Batiks by any company. I’m always interested in new books too.
I’d want to see all of the new fabrics and patterns.
Quilt Market looks amazing! I would love to see Bonnie & Camille, Cotton + Steel, Penny Rose- I would be in awe the entire time!
I just love the new cotton and steel, Katy Jones new line, maureen ccracknell. Let’s not forget basic Grey’s new line coming out. Thanks for a great giveaway
Honestly,I think I’d be totally overwhelmed and would not know where to start. I would want to see the Moda designers’ booths, and I’d want to see new patterns, modern and traditional, large and minis. I’d want to see Jenny Doan and Carrie Nelson. I want to see the colors that designers are using.
Would love to look at all the new book and patterns. Project overload
I think I would just want to wander around and take everything in. Then blow and entire year’s worth of savings.
