Win My Class!

To enter, first click here to sign in or register for a free Craftsy account (if you don’t have one yet). Then leave me a comment letting me know if you’ve ever taken a Craftsy class before.

If you are a regular Craftsy user, I’d also love to know what you love best about the class platform. As for me, I love being able to interact 24/7 via the Q&A sidebar in each class. πŸ™‚

The giveaway will be open to all and will run through the end of the week. I’ll draw a random winner on Saturday and will contact them via email.

Pinwheel Quilts from Class

I used Craftsy’s Boundless precut strips in three different color schemes to make the 3 full-sized pinwheel quilts shown in class. With careful cutting you can actually make 2 quilts from each set, or make one larger version. The free pattern will be included exclusively as part of the class.

Here’s closeup shots of each of the pinwheel quilts I share in class:

pinwheels-navy

The Navy/30’s Pinwheels (with walking foot quilting) was made from 30’s prints and navy solids. I actually show two versions of this quilt in class, the finished red/white/blue version shown above, plus the pastel version shown below. I separated the precut 2 1/2″ strips into two color schemes to make both quilts. I used a contrasting thread on the pastel version that I actually quilt on during class, so you can see what I’m doing.

For the Pink/White pinwheels, I free-motion quilted a fun and easy edge to edge design that gives the quilt lots of texture. This is a fast way to finish that looks amazing on your quilt!

During class, I teach many more quilting motifs than shown in these three samples, but I still quilt them on real blocks so you can see how the designs will look before you commit to a full quilt. For the pink/white version I used some of the leftover solid pink strips to make a scrappy binding. I think it adds such a fun look to a quilt!

For the grand finale, I show how to combine both walking foot and free-motion techniques to create a truly custom look with your quilt, as shown in the Teal/Gray Pinwheels quilt.

There’s plenty of leftover pieces in each bundle that you can use to whip up sample blocks to practice on like I did. It always amazes me how different a quilt can look, once it’s quilted!

In class, I also share several of my other finished quilts for inspiration, explaining how I apply the quilting to each of these quilts. My goal is for you to not only learn the designs, but feel comfortable quilting them on any quilt. Once the class launches, I’ll be back with a detailed class summary, along with an exclusive discount available only from me. I can’t wait!!

I love Craftsy classes. I can work on them at my own pace, work on them at any time of the day, re-watch sections that I need extra help on. Also I get classes with national teachers that I can’t get in my area. Also the price is right. My daughter gave me two classes for Christmas. Can’t wait for yours to get here.

Congratulations on your Craftsy class. I can’t wait. I have purchased many Craftsy classes and love being able to watch them over and over. I love learning new things and sometimes it is hard to make it to a store class, so Craftsy allows me to attend lots in my own timeframe.

I love that you can watch your class anytime you want. It is so convenient and I can make it work for my schedule. I often sew late at night.

I’ve taken several Craftsy classes. The best part about them, in my opinion, is the ability to ask questions from the instructor. It’s not quite like being in the same room together, but it’s the next best thing. I am continually amazed at the responsiveness of the instructors, even for classes that have been around for a while.

I have never taken a class through Craftsy πŸ˜” I have wanted to for a long time, but alas … what I need is a class from you to help give me confidence to attempt quilting on my home machine (a Bernina 770!). Might I add — pick me, pick me, pick me 😊! Thank you for doing this!

have taken several Craftsy classes. I like being able to pause and return to clarify steps. Also really appreciate seeing what others are doing in the projects.

My longarmer sent me links for Craftsy classes when I got my big girl sewing machine with a wide throat for quilting. The first thing I did was search your name to find your classes. And now you’re finally coming out with your own class! I’m very excited to own it. I love having experts teach me when it’s convenient for me.

I have taken several Craftsy classes and still have a few to take. I really like to do free hand quilting with my long arm, but need ideas and I think that I could use your ideas as inspiration with my long arm machine.

I have not taken a class yet, but oh so tempted, would be so happy to win your class as I have three tops waiting to be quilted. And who doesn’t want to start another quilt?

I have purchased many Craftsy classes and refer to them very often. I love that I can replay them as often as needed and any time of day. I can run thru a class when I am trying to master something new or casually while waiting at an appointment. I like the idea to learn different ways and styles from various teachers.

Hi Christa! Yes, I have purchased a few Craftsy classes, but I have not found the time to watch them yet! Perhaps over the winter break (this week!) I will get to enjoy and learn from them!

Craftsy has changed my craft life … I never would have learned to quilt without it. My favorite thing about Craftsy is being able to take the class at any time … especially after midnight, which is the best time for me, with little kids around. I can’t wait for your class, I’ve been excited about it as soon as I heard about it!

I have taken some classes. It is a brilliant platform 24/7; as and when; and spanning the world. I am a new quilter and have learned so much through Craftsy. Your class would help me finish a few tops that I am scared to ruin through lack of confidence and knowledge!

I have taken many Craftsy classes and before the platform upgrade I frequently gave Craftsy classes as gifts. I like their flexibility, I take them when I have time, when I need specific information and can play them again when I am actually at my sewing machine following along. the ability to see questions and answers and replay something over and over if I am struggling with it is a bonus. Craftsy has a great variety of classes for multiple interests. I started with quilting and have added sewing cooking and knitting classes to my account! Congratulations on your class.

    Hi Crista,
    I love your work.
I have taken a Craftsy class and like the fact that I can refer back to it at my leisure.
I would like to purchase the pinwheel pattern. Can you tell me how to do that please.
    Thanks.

I have taken a lot of Craftsy classes. I love the camera angels! Taking a class in person has its advantages but my goodness I just love being able to see up close and being able to REPEAT a step. I have been one of your cheerleaders and HOPING for the day you have a Craftsy class! Congratulations!

Hi Christa, your class sounds exciting. I have taken a number of Craftsy classes. I like them because I can watch them at my leisure, and go back and review any time I have time or need to see something all over again. What I really need is access in the same area I have my machine. Thanks for the chance to win.

I have taken many classes on Craftsy and love Craftsy. Out of the many wonderful reasons to love it, perhaps my very favorite is that you can see exactly what the teacher is demonstrating, up close and very clearly, as often as you like. That perfect view, in my opinion, often makes Craftsy better than face-to-face classes.

I have lots of Craftsy classes under my belt. I love that I can watch them anytime and anywhere I can get internet connection. That is a huge plus for me! I also like that I can stop the class and go back to a part in the lesson that I didn’t quite understand and watch it again right then. The instructors are so knowledgeable. It is just like having a personal tutor! Thanks for the opportunity to add your class to my education!
