Happy Valentine’s Day! Have you been following along with The Splendid Sampler? The 100th and final block was released earlier in the week and to mark this tremendous milestone, there’s a huge giveaway to celebrate!
My block contribution to The Splendid Sampler – Scrappy Happy Heart
The New Book
But before I get to the giveaways, there’s some exciting to share. Although the first stage of the quilt along has wrapped up, the journey isn’t over! The Splendid Sampler book releases in April!
Click here to pre-order your copy of The Splendid Sampler.
Then in May, authors Pat Sloan and Jane Davidson will embark on phase two – encouraging new Splendid sewists to create one block a week from the book. So it’s never to late to join in – or if you started the quilt along and then set it aside to work on other things, you can re-join the fun!

Congrats to Leslie F. and Christine C. for winning the PDF patterns!!
I’m working on my 1st block. thank you
I have made…drum roll please…zero blocks lol! I came in halfway through and have too much going on to start. I have been collecting fabrics and blocks to begin soon though.
Thank you for the giveaway!!!
I have been “curating” my fabric and have made one practice block. I am intimidated by some of the techniques, but I’m excited to try new things.
Currently working on Block 89 and have done some bonus blocks all with saving and cornerstones. Your block is one of my favorites, did 3 variations!
18 blocks
I haven’t made any blocks yet but am picking my favorites to save and make this summer.
I have 7 blocks done. I’m hoping to start back up again soon!
Zero blocks completed, but I look forward to working on them all. It looked like a fun journey of discovery.
I’Ve done 48- lots to go!
Zero! Don’t know how I missed out on this one!
I have 7 done and 6 more half done.
I have saved all the blocks and the bonus ones as well. Hope to work on them
I have made 97 blocks, currently working on the stitcheries & I’ve made all the bonus blocks. I wish it didn’t have to end, it’s been so amazing this last year
I’ve saved many of them but haven’t been able to make one yet.
I’ve finished five blocks, picked out and cut the fabrics for three more, and am in the middle of an embroidery one. I think I’ll do the shadow setting when I’m done, whenever that is. Maybe in the second go-round. I’m determined to finish this, though!
Thank you for your participation in this wonderful worldwide quilting bee!!
I’m late to the game. I just discovered the Splendid Sampler quilt. I plan to make the first block soon!
I think I have 6 blocks completed, a few more cut out, and all of the patterns printed and placed in page protectors. I’m a slow sewer, so it’s taking me a while to finish the “have-to” projects before I can get back to this.
Finished about 75% of the Splendid Sampler blocks. Got behind at Christmas. Loved your heart block.
I have made 47 blocks so far, and pieces cut for 4 more. Slow and steady!!
I made 100 blocks for the quilt – didn’t use only the Splendid Sampler designs. Enjoyed adding the embroidered blocks.
Hi Christa. I started out well but only completed 18 blocks before life got in the way. I have all the patterns and I am glad that the Splendid Sampler will be continuing. It is a fun way to learn new techniques.
i have only made 20 blocks but have really enjoyed collecting all the others, too.
I have made zero, but other projects got in the way! However, I have some ready to go. It was great fun to visit all the designers pages.
I have only managed to make 12 so far, but my book of printed patterns arrived from my daughter in law today so I can keep working on them until the Splendid book is out. 🙂
I’m finished!! 100 blocks!! Thanks to all designers, it’s been fun. I learnt a lot about the power of community commitment!! Turquoise makes me happy X
I have made over 100 blocks and am remaking a few now.
I have only made about 10, but I had some commissions to make. I’m really excited to make more!
I have made between 40=50 blocks so far.
I’ve finished 45 blocks and look forward to finishing the rest in 2017.
I’ve made all 100 blocks, plus some of the bonus blocks. I’m going to a quilt retreat this weekend, and will be putting them all together. Can’t wait!
I have only made 6 blocks, but fully intend to quilt on… I knew it was going to be a crazy year for my family: a wedding,a new granddaughter, a new grandson, a college graduation, a Military Officer Commissioning, a son moving back home, and hubs having Major surgery… Wow I’m tired again, just saying it…. I followed along here and there and can’t wait to get into it….
I was keeping up to about 50, lost steam, and then did a lot of sewing to have completed 82 blocks when I finished #100 on Sunday.
I’ve completed 69 so far-still can’t believe I’ve done that many!
I’ve finished 37 blocks
I’ve kept up with this amazing splendid journey and have loved every week receiving the blocks and taking on the next challenge. I’ve honed my skills in small piecing, taken on paper piecing, and learned hand embroidery. It’s been a great experience and I’ve so enjoyed meeting quilters and designers worldwide through this awesome social media communication environment.
I have made 53 blocks, including your heart! Its been a fun project!
I made it up to 50 and then lost my steam…I still have all the patterns and hope to one day get them all done!
I started last week and have made 6 blocks so far
I think I have about 75 at last count, including some bonus blocks. I’m planning to finish just 1 or 2 more, there’s a few I don’t plan to do.
I haven’t made any yet. I’ve been collecting the patterns, so maybe this summer!
Zero here….but I’m eager to start. I so enjoyed seeing everyone’s interpretation in their own colors.
I have finished 38 blocks plus one bonus block and one in progress.
I have 12 blocks completed and a nice stack of FQ’s patiently waiting to be used.
I haven’t made any so far, I have my fabric and my three ring binder is full of the patterns, I have preordered the book also, just need to start this as a new project. Have 7 quilts in process going right now. Might as well make it 8. 🙂
I blushingly admit I have made … Zero. However, I have enjoyed watching these come together on several blogs.

Love, loved the journey. I am no longer intimidated by PP or Applique blocks. What a great idea to do this as a great big Quilt a long. The other quilters inspired me in so many ways. I also learned the importance of color placement. So glad I participated. I have 108 blocks now ready to put into multiple tops.
This has been a fun adventure with many new tech. Learn a lot and love see everyone else block come alive like mine has. Thank you for this great experIence.
I have really enjoyed the blocks. It was great fun to see so many techniques. I have only made 15 of them. But I hope to finish them all.
I haven’t made any yet, but would love to!
Made all 100 blocks and a few of the bonus blocks
