Guest on the Make and Decorate Podcast

I love podcasts! And I especially love to listen to quilting podcasts while I sew. It’s like having a fun chat with a friend, but I don’t have to stop what I’m doing to respond, LOL! Well, recently I was interviewed on the Make and Decorate podcast, hosted by amazing interior designer and all-around fun quilter, Stephanie Socha of Stephanie Socha Design.

Make and Decorate Podcast

I first met Stephanie online when she started giving me some fabulous tips about decorating my new home. So she’s fun to chat with about decorating AND quilting!

It was fun to be one of her “milestone” podcasts – 25 episodes since she began less than a year ago – and she’s interviewed some really great guests, too. Some of her most recent interview guests include Matthew Boudreaux, aka “Mister Domestic” as well as bag-maker extraordinaire Sara Lawson of Sew Sweetness.

To listen to the podcast, you can click the player on Stephanie’s website (here). Or you can search for “Make and Decorate podcast” on I-tunes or your favorite podcast player. So give it a listen, and I’m sure you’ll become addicted, too!

Oh, and I know some of you will ask what some of my favorite podcasts are, so click here for a list of my favorites podcasts I created a few years ago. Although some have come and gone, it’s still a great place to get started listening.

Quick Podcast Announcement – Guest on Just Wanna Quilt

My blogging fell off a bit last week because of my trip to Chicago for BERNINA University. I’m writing up a summary of the trip and hope to have that posted in the next day or two 🙂

In the meantime, I wanted to recommend a fun podcast to listen to that I was recently interviewed on. It’s called Just Wanna Quilt and is the brainchild of Dr. Elizabeth Townsend Gard from Tulane Law School. She’s doing research on quilting and copyright and her podcast is a part of her research where she interviews all sorts of people in the quilting industry: hobbyists, professionals, and industry insiders. It’s super fascinating!

FYI Elizabeth will be a guest speaker and teacher at QuiltCon 2019 in Nashville next year, AND she was recently included in the latest issue of QuiltFolk magazine about Louisiana. It was an honor to speak with her!

Book Publishing Q & A

Recently at Fall Quilt Market, I participated in a presentation with Leah Day and Stephanie Palmer about getting our work published. Several of you who could not attend were interesting in getting access to the information we shared. Guess what? Leah recorded our presentation and turned it into a podcast over on her website at

Stephanie, Leah and Christa having too much fun at Quilt Market Schoolhouse

To listen, just click the play button at the top of her page. She’s also included a written transcript if you want to follow along. The sound quality isn’t super great because of the room we were in, and I talk VERY fast. But it’s full of great info if you are interested in learning more.

And the best part is, Leah is planning on podcasting on a regular basis. I can’t wait to listen to the next one!

Check out My Chat on Sit and Sew Radio Podcast

I’ve been enjoying a new podcast called Sit and Sew Radio, hosted by Stephanie Soebbing of Quilt Addicts Anonymous. I was pleasantly surprised when Stephanie reached out to me and invited me to be on the show!

sitandsewradioStephanie’s format is really great: she usually has 3 guests from the quilting and sewing industry and each segment is really quick – only about 10 -15 minutes in length. That makes the show super easy to listen to when you’ve just got a few spare minutes here and there.

So far I’ve enjoyed each of the episodes (pictured in the image above). The name is just perfect, too! I really do love to sit and sew while listening to quilting podcasts!!

In my episode we chat about QuiltCon and I share a few machine quilting tips from my books.

Click here to listen to my interview directly on Stephanie’s website. Or download it from Itunes or Stitchr and listen to it on your phone. 🙂 Happy listening and quilting, my friends!

Here’s a sneak peek of the quilting on my latest quilt – more details coming soon!

Modern Sewciety Podcast Interview and Podcast List

Be sure to catch my interview with Stephanie from the Modern Sewciety Podcast episode 92. Stephanie and I have gotten to be great friends ever since I began listening to her podcast (and proclaimed myself her #1 fan!) This is actually the 3rd time I’ve been on her show (click here for the 1st interview on episode 37 and click here for the second on episode 77).

I think it was our most fun chat yet. Of course we talked about the new book and business type stuff, but we also had a fun discussion about Quilt Market and QuiltCon, too. And you know – mom stuff and not always being in the season of life where we can do what we want!!

Stephanie threw in a fun little segment at the end, asking about some of my favorite podcasts since she knows I’m an avid podcast listener. I only mentioned about 5-6 of them in the interview so I thought I’d share links to all of the podcasts I’m currently listening to.

Quilting, Sewing and Creative Podcasts

In no particular order, these are the creative podcasts I’m currently listening to. Click each link to be taken to the podcast home page or host’s blog. These are all currently running with consistently released episodes.

Business Podcasts

Some podcasts overlap as they talk both about creativity and business, but I really like these ones below for business tips and advice. Click the links to learn more.

Additional Podcast Lists

My podcast list changes depending on my mood and whether or not a podcast is still current or not. For more recommendations, click this link for last summer’s podcast list.

This is me on any given day in my studio: sewing and listening to podcasts!

If you know of any other fun podcasts I’ve missed, please let me and my readers know about them in the comments below!

Podcasts I listen to

Several of you have asked which podcasts I listen to so I thought I’d share my list here. They are a mix of business, wellness, crafting and quilting. Because it’s a long list and I’m feeling a bit lazy today – I’m just showing pictures from my phone rather than including actual links.

These are all available in Itunes and if you google them, it will take you to their websites where they have links to listen. The dates below indicate the last time the podcast was upload. Note: these pics are about a week old and they are in no particular order. Enjoy!

podcast_2podcast_3podcast_4podcast_5What are your favorite podcasts? If you have recommendations, please leave me a comment. I listen to these while I quilt and exercise so I’m always looking for more great content to listen to!

Check out Me Being Crafty Podcast and Listen to My Interview

Hey guys, have you heard of this great new creative podcast? It’s called Me Being Crafty and it’s hosted by Tsoniki Crazy Bull. When Tsoniki reached out to me and invited me to be on the show, I immediately listened to all the past episodes to get a feel for her audience and presentation style. After just a few minutes of listening, I quickly said yes!

Tsoniki encourages you to find your creativity every day, no matter what you do. She interviews fun people like quilters, sewists, lifestyle bloggers, and all sorts of creative folks. On the podcast, Tsoniki shares her passion for creativity along with snippets of her life as a mom and military wife currently living in France, along with a touch of her Native American culture.

You can also subscribe to the podcast via Itunes or Stitcher.

Me Being CraftyTsoniki and I chatted about modern quilting, the importance of quality tools, why I love teaching, and a little bit about my journey as a quilter.

She publishes podcasts twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with one guest per episode. Each podcast runs about 20-30 minutes. They are fun to listen to while sewing!

Listen to My Interview on the Modern Sewciety Podcast!

You guys know how much I love listening to quilting podcasts while I sew. Well, I was very flattered when Stephanie Kendron, the host of Modern Sewciety, invited me to come on her show and chat about my own personal quilt story.

The Modern Sewciety podcast is all about spreading the love of quilting and sewing, and getting to know other modern creative bloggers and their stories. Stephanie is an excellent hostess who put me right at ease, and we had such a fun chat! I admire her for her tenacity, and her goal of making the sewing and quilting community a fun place to be!

I love to listening to podcasts for inspiration while I sew – it’s like being at a good ‘old fashioned quilting bee, but I don’t have to talk back!! I hope you enjoy it. 🙂

Last Call for Fabric Clearance – We’re Shutting Down the Old Site!

But first, I need to announce my charm pack winners. Congratulations to Peg H. who won the Moda charm pack blog giveaway, and @fedewala who won the instagram bundle. Thanks so much for your input on my newsletters, too. Monday was the preferred day, so I’ll take a week off and start sending them again on a regular schedule. That works better for me, too. 🙂

Just in case you missed it, you can sign up for my weekly newsletter here.

Now for the bigger news, we are downsizing and shutting down the old website at the end of the day tomorrow, Wednesday, June 25th and everything remaining is now 50% off.

ChristaQuiltsThis is so we can concentrate our efforts on our new leaner (but in no way meaner) precut store where we sell fat quarter bundles, charm packs, jelly rolls, layer cakes, and just about any precut you can think of from all the major manufacturers. We also carry a large selection of Aurifil thread by the spool or by the bundle. It’s been so fun to seek out new precuts and new ways to use them!

APQRAnd thanks to those of you who listened and cheered me on during my interview on Pat Show’s quilting podcast yesterday. I was super nervous to go on, but she instantly put me right at ease. What a fun lady and a great host! If you missed it live, you can listen to all of Pat’s archived podcasts here, and you can subscribe to the show via Itunes (search for American Patchwork and Quilting Radio).
