I quilted all weekend on my Charming Chevrons quilt and am really pleased with the progress so far. It was pure bliss to sew for hours on end while my hubby entertained the kiddos with movies and games. But more about that later. Here’s a sneak peek, and I’ll post more pictures on this week’s Do-It-Yourself Quilt Along.
Diana, AKA Quilting Grandma sent me a picture of her version of Charming Chevrons, made from Berenstain Bears Charm Packs. Aren’t the colors just wonderful?? I love how she added the extra borders, and her choice of solid green for the background is just awesome!
And I couldn’t resist sharing this picture of Martha from Illinois, modeling her Machingers Quilting Gloves on her new Tiara machine. I have to say I’m a little bit jealous of all that quilting space under the machine!
That got me to thinking, wouldn’t it be fun to win some of my favorite gadgets and quilting tools I talk about? Since I just reviewed Machingers Gloves last week, I’m going to give two lucky readers each a pair of gloves to try out.
It’s easy to enter, simply post a comment (any comment) and you’ll be entered to win. I’ll randomly select 2 winners and post their names here on the blog. I’ll also notify them via email. Contest ends this Friday, November 30th at 9PM Pacific Time (Midnight Eastern).
Good luck!

Thank you all for participating. This was a fun contest to run and all of the comments were much appreciated! We now have our winners!
The first winner, drawn at random is:
Judith:
Right now, I’m using a pair of slightly textured gardening gloves. The disadvantage is that they’re fairly bulky and not particularly grippy. The advantage is that I can blame any quilting gaffes on the gloves
Thanks for the great giveaway opportunity.
The second winner, also drawn at random is
Evelyn H:
I haven’t done your Chevron quilt, but I made the Jolly Jelly Roll. I love that pattern. I would love a pair of the quilting gloves, which are on my Christmas wish list! Thanks for doing this and for your fun tutorials.
Congratulations, ladies! I will be emailing you shortly with your winning prize!

That is a fun quilt to quilt on
I need to learn pebbles. I’m pretty good at straight line and stipple but pebbles have eluded me. Mine end up all shapes. Would love to win some gloves. Thank you
I will do more of an in-depth tutorial on quilting pebbles next week 🙂
what a beautiful bright happy quilt! love it. thanks for the giveaway…
Christa, I love reading your blog! Those gloves would be awesome, as I try to do more quilting on my kids’ quilts for Project Linus!
Just signed up for your blog – thank you for the giveaway also!
thank you for the chance
I am putting borders on my first quilt, gloves would be handy for my quilts I have ideas for in the future.
love your quilt thanks for the giveaway
Your pebbling quilting is amazing!!! I need to give it a try 🙂
I really need these gloves, as I am tired of cutting my fingers. Love your quilting!
I do love chevrons and solids. Yours is going to be so fun. I actually have a pair of these gloves and have been thinking of ordering another pair. They definitely live up to their reputation! Love mine. Thanks for the chance to win.
Love your chevron quilt! And I’d love to try a pair of these gloves so I can learn to fmq. 🙂
Thank you for a great giveaway! Love your quilts babscorbitt@gmail.com
Hi Christa…I’m new to the blog too, and really appreciate your tutorials. Have already tried out a baby quilt following your instructions, which turned out quite well. I’ve always used these gloves for FMQ, and would love a new pair as mine are really worn out.
I’d love to try a pair of those gloves!

Love your quilt alongs–easy enough for beginners with plenty of interest for the more experienced quilted. Thank you for the giveaway.
I would love to try these gloves. Thanks for a great giveaway. Thanks also for the idea for the chevron quilt.
I’ve looked at the gloves but wasn’t sure how useful they’d be. Now I’m thinking how will I manage without them. The best thing about the contest is it’s pointed me to your blog. 🙂
I resisted the glove thing for so long but boy they really do make a difference!! What a treat for someone to win a new pair!
Hope to tackle that skill this coming year. Maybe the gloves would help my confidence level!!
These gloves look pretty useful!
What a beautiful quilt! Thank you for all your hard work and sharing of your fine quilting skills! Love those gloves!!!
I’d love to try them. I’m currently using some very lightweight floral gardening gloves (I do mean very lightweight!) that are lightly rubberized on the palms and fingers. They actually work pretty good, but I’d like to try something designed for the job. Thanks for the chance.
Wow, those would be so awesome to have. I’m a rather newbie to quilting and it sounds like those would help me quite a bit when it comes to quilting on my little machine. Thanks for the giveaway.
Would love a chance to win the Machingers gloves!
How did you get your quilting lines so evenly spaced and so straight using free motion? I don’t see any marking lines. Beautiful quilt, and I like the design for the art back as well!
Oops, I went back and saw how you marked it. Still, how did you keep those lines so nice and straight?
I used a walking foot to quilt the straight lines and went nice and slow. They are not perfect, but here’s a little trick: the more quilting you do, the more it hides your mistakes! I will talk about the straight-line quilting in more detail on my next blog post. 🙂
I’m still learning to machine quilt. These gloves might help me out. 🙂
Nice quilting! I’d love to give the gloves a try. It would be perfect timing as I am quilting a throw and a tree skirt for gifts.
Thank you for making this look manageable for a “newbie” to quilting.
Love the way you alternated the straight quilting and circles on the chevron quilt – very creative! My machingers are just about worn out, or need a good washing. Would love to start over with a fresh pair for the New Year! Thanks for your generosity.
You can definitely the gloves and lay flat to dry. I’ve washed mine during the making of this quilt so my pictures will look nicer, LOL!!
I enjoy reading your posts and hope to follow along with one of your quilting creations. Thank you for providing the chance to win these gloves…. after such a fabulous review, I would love to try them myself.
I love the quilts! Winning would be fun too.
You have outdone yourself with this excellent post and how-to for marking and quilting. It is much appreciated. Beautiful saturated colors,
Hi Christa. I would love to win a pair of MACHINGERS so I could give them to my friend for Xmas. I do have a pair and love them. Thanks for the chance to win and all that you share on your blog.
Love the look of the pebbles. Works really well on your Chevron quilt, I think. I do free motion on my home machine…just beginning really. I guess it is true….practice makes perfect! And a pair of those gloves, too! Thanks for the chance to win!
I’ve always wanted to try that brand of gloves! the ones I use wear out too quickly I have sewn them so many times over the holes with my free motion needle to fix them!
Great looking Chevron Quilt. Thanks for a chance to win the Machinger Gloves. They look like they would really work great. I struggle sometimes moving the pieces around.
Hi Christa, thanks so much for your informative blogs. This is the third quilt one that I have been following and I am really learning a lot. I copy and paste them into a word document so that I can keep them for future reference. Hope that’s okay. The quilting gloves sound amazing. I would love to try them out.
I would love to win a pair of gloves. I have wanted to try them and see how they feel for quilting. Thanks for the giveaway.
Your Chevron quilt is turning out wonderful, and love the quilting that I see. I wonder if quilter’s gloves would help my machine quilting?
I have really been wanting to try machine quilting gloves, thanks for the opportunity to win some! I love all the chevron quilts, good job, everyone!
Thank you! I keep thinking I should try some gloves but I never remember to get them, and my last quilt was really difficult to move around. I do love chevrons, in the middle of a chevron pillow (cause who doesn’t love doing a project that only takes a couple hours 😉
Here is my comment, 🙂
I haven’t done your Chevron quilt, but I made the Jolly Jelly Roll. I love that pattern. I would love a pair of the quilting gloves, which are on my Christmas wish list! Thanks for doing this and for your fun tutorials.
I too am jealous of that quilting space. Thanks for the chance.
I’ve been wanting to try a pair of Machinger’s gloves. Thank you for giving me a chance to win a pair. By the way, I really enjoy reading your blog.
Your quilt is beautiful! I have started FMQ recently and have wanted the Machingers quilt gloves in hope of improving my quilting. Thank you for offering such a great giveaway!!!
Those gloves look great, as does the quilt. Thanks for the giveaway.
Wow, those are seriously lovely chevron quilts! And thanks so much for the wonderful opportunity to win some of those perfect gloves!
I have tried FMQing without the specialty gloves, so I would love to see how much better it is WITH them. Thanks for the chance to win!
