I’m headed off to the trade show, the International Quilt Market in Houston, Texas. Jason and I have a strategy for the show – he will be the planner, setting up appointments to meet with our vendors, organizing our budget for new precuts, and making sure we both eat and rest well.
It’s fun to meet up with “Sew”-lebrities at Quilt Market!
I’ll get to do the “fun” stuff – rub shoulders with quilting celebrities, meet up with online friends, and attend presentations from some of the top designers in the industry. Jason told me he’s perfectly happy to stay out of the limelight while attending to business, so together we’ll make a great team!
I’m sure I’ll pick up a bunch of freebies while I’m there, so I thought for this week’s giveaway, I’ll offer up a mystery bag full of market SWAG!! Be sure to follow me on instagram @christaquilts starting on Friday for some sneak peeks!
To enter, just leave a comment telling me what you would want to do if you attended market, or who’s new designer lines you’d love to see!
The giveaway will remain open through Monday, Oct. 27th at midnight Pacific Time. I’ll draw a winner’s name at random sometime Tuesday morning (after I’ve recovered from the trip) and will mention it on the blog later that day.
Have a happy quilting weekend!
I would go see if Kim Diehl has any new fabrics or samples coming out.
I would so love to attend market! I love any line by Bonnie and Camille for Moda
What a source of inspiration. I would try to see it all!
I always want to see what Riley Blake and Art Gallery have. They always have the brightest and most fun designers.
If I got a chance to go to market I would try to visit everyone! I’d want to see the new Moda lines and see what aurifil thread is showing. Of course I would have to have my dh with me to remind me to eat. Ha!Ha! Yes, I forget to eat, when I am quilting I forget about everything, even eating.
What a sensory overload Quilt Market must be. I would love to be in the midst of all that beauty and creativity. I would love to see Amy Butler and Zen Chic booths and fabric designs.
I would love to go to Quilt Market… OMG, meeting all the designers, seeing their quilts and booths in person… that would be awesome! I wouldn’t know where to begin, but I know that I would love every moment!!
Ohh how I’d love to go to Market trade show and the quilt market. Just to be surrounded by all the creativity…soaking up all the fabrics and ideas…FAO Schwartz for grown-ups.
I would love to meet the designers! I would Definately make sure to see Tula pink! Also sample spree would be a huge priority 🙂
I’d do exactly what I do when I go to Paducah. I would walk carefully in and out of booths looking at all the new fabric and gadgets they offer. I would ohh and ahh over the beautiful fabric and just feel like I was in heaven !
Have a great time! If I had a chance to attend I would want to see everything!
I think I would just take my time and look over all of the inspiration. I sometimes need a jump start to get recharged and refocused. Have fun at market
i would want to view the originals of the quilts that I featured on pattern covers.
If I attended Quilt Market, I would want to just take it all in and savor each moment. Thanks!
I’m sure I’d just ooh & aah my way thru all the displays, it’d be sew much to take in. The freebies would be great too!
Oh, my goodness, I’d love to go with you and see all the wonderful displays. I’d visit Tula Pink and Riley Blake fabrics for sure but I’d just wander through them all. What a fun giveaway idea, I’d be happy to be your winner. Have fun!
I would want to try to see it all…but not in one day!
I would be like a little kid in a huge candy shop!!! I love smaller things to make, so I would make my way around and gather up kits for new goodies from all my favorites!!
I’ve never been to market so I’m sure I would be in awe of all the beautiful things! I would definitely need a planner, so I can imagine how much you appreciate Jason’s support. I think I would start by looking at all the gorgeous threads, as that is my current weakness.
If I got to attend, I’d be like a kid in a candy store. Where do you start? LOL!
Let’s see, if I were fortunate to attend the Houston Market, the first thing I would probably try to do, is to see if I could set up an appointment to meet Libby Lehman, where she is making great strides toward recovery in Houston. The next thing on my bucket list would be to visit, Timeless Treasurers, Rowan, Hoffman, Moda, Janome, and everyone else participating in this enormous show.
I would check out Anna Maria’s new line first!
I would want to visit Anna Marie Horner
I would make my own bag, as that seems the done thing to do! And I would visit Alison Glass!
I have never been to market or festival and I am sure I would be picking my mouth up off the floor all the time!!!
I would just enjoy seeing all of the beautiful new fabric lines and put a face to many of the designers I have read about and seen pictures of. It sounds like such an exciting place to be.
If I attended quilt market, I’d buy a new pair of COMFY shoes because I think I’d be on my feet most of the days.
I think I would just walk around and want to touch/pet everything (not people though; that’s weird). I also think I would buy WAY TOO much fabric. Which is probably why I’m not going. 😦
Going to Market…who knows where to start. I think I’ll start with YOU!! Have fun.
I go see Tula Pink, AMH and Aurifil.
I’d love to meet designers of my fav fabric, and of course shop!
I would be walking around in a daze and have to look at everything twice, just to make sure i don’t miss anything. And i would like to meet you Christa. Hope you have a super time at Market.
Sounds like the perfect team!!! I’m excited to see all the new fabrics and want lots of pictures of everything!! Seriously, dont be bashful!!! I plan to be on Instagram for three days 😉 Thanks for the chance to win a swag bag and most importantly, have fun!!
Oh just the thought of someday attending makes me smile. I am hard pressed to name just one designer but right now I am in love with Kate Spain.
Wishing you a great time.
Oh my goodness! Never been and have wanted to attend for years!!! Love Amy Butler fabrics and Patrick Lose patterns. I love making scraps quilts as they are soooo much fun. VBG
I have never been. So jealous! …but I would want to attend the presentations and visit the vendor booths.
I would go up and down each isle at least twice looking at all the new fabrics so I could have sweet dreams that night. Been trying to destash at home and making some headway. I now have room and can justify buying MORE fun fabrics!
I’ve never been to a quilt show or market! Would like to someday. If I were to go, I think it’d be hard to decide what to do first! However, where there’s pretty fabric or tools, I’d surely check those out! 😁
A trip to market would be heaven! I would love the chance to check out all the new collections in one place. I especially would want to see new baby quilting fabrics since I make a lot of quilts for new babes. I’m sure it would take the entire weekend to get me through all the booths. Have fun! I’m looking forward to hearing all about Market.
I would definitely see Amy Gibson and her pretty yellow vintage dress!
I would love to just see all the booths and touch all the fabric. Have fun!
Well I would track down your booth and then buy your book signed in person, then I would mosey all over in a row by row manner. Since I love it all, I would pretty much be there from the moment it opened until they booted the last of us out. Have a great week and be sure to get some rest.
FABRIC…like a zombie!
I’m a trade show vet from the beauty industry, so its a careful row by row, stop at most important booths first, trying very hard not to over linger.. If I could get a floor plan before hitting the show that helps plan the day and any classes get set on my phone with multiple alarms!
I would cruise and drool! Take in all that is there and take lots of pictures!
I love the Kansas Troubles fabrics and precuts.
I’d run around like crazy trying to take it all in. Would be too nervous to speak to sewcelebrities I think! All my favorite quilting bloggers would likely be there and that would be so fun to see them!
Not to mention all the quilts, fabrics and tools that would be there to drool over!
Since I have never been, I imagine I would be so overwhelmed. But I would love to attend the presentations and see all the new fabrics. I would also wanted to win the lottery before attending so that I could buy….Buy….BUY!!!
Would love to attend Quilt Market. and meet the many interesting quilters who I’ve read about.,see the fabric, patterns, notions etc etc. Realistically I’d probably be so over whelmed that I would see only what I’d come across
Have a great time. I wonder if going is ever in the cards for me. If I went I’d want to see Carolyn Friedlander’s new line- I can already tell I’ll end up obsessing over that.
