I’m Off to Market – and Ready for a Giveaway!

I’m headed off to the trade show, the International Quilt Market in Houston, Texas. Jason and I have a strategy for the show – he will be the planner, setting up appointments to meet with our vendors, organizing our budget for new precuts, and making sure we both eat and rest well.

amybutler_meIt’s fun to meet up with “Sew”-lebrities at Quilt Market!

I’ll get to do the “fun” stuff – rub shoulders with quilting celebrities, meet up with online friends, and attend presentations from some of the top designers in the industry. Jason told me he’s perfectly happy to stay out of the limelight while attending to business, so together we’ll make a great team!

I’m sure I’ll pick up a bunch of freebies while I’m there, so I thought for this week’s giveaway, I’ll offer up a mystery bag full of market SWAG!! Be sure to follow me on instagram @christaquilts starting on Friday for some sneak peeks!

20141020_market_pinTo enter, just leave a comment telling me what you would want to do if you attended market, or who’s new designer lines you’d love to see!

The giveaway will remain open through Monday, Oct. 27th at midnight Pacific Time. I’ll draw a winner’s name at random sometime Tuesday morning (after I’ve recovered from the trip) and will mention it on the blog later that day.

Have a happy quilting weekend!

If I ever went to market I would take (and post) HUNDREDS of photos! That’s what everyone wants to see! I’d get off the beaten path too and take pics of booths the online community doesn’t get to see too often. I LOVE pictures of fabric in use (quilts, purses, dresses, etc.) so that I can tell the size of the prints (since I do most fabric shopping online).

Meeting the designers and quilt sewlebrities would be my favorite part. I’d probably be one of those stalker fans who don’t talk but do stare as I lose my ability to talk when I meet someone I’m in awe of.

After looking for you to meet you, I would love to see the Cotton & Steel designers and Camille Roskelley. Then I would wander, fondle and drool through the whole show! Seeing the show quilts would be a big highlight. I am in awe of the women who do quilts just for shows.

  8. Joye says:

I would try to keep my mouth closed–because I know that I would be awe of everything so I wouldn’t want to be seen walking around with my mouth agape!

I would love to see all of the new ideas, patterns and colors showing up. I would really like to see any new fabrics/patterns by Tula Pink, Jennifer Paganelli, and Gerri Robinson. It would be so wonderful to get to see it all! I hope you have a great time, Christa!

You make a great team! I think I’d want to be doing what you are doing. There are so many new fabric lines that I am totally unaware of, that I’d enjoy going from booth to booth ‘exploring’ until I was too tired to stay on my feet!

  17. Sarah says:

I have never attended a quilt show or anything, so I don’t even know what to say, except that I would like to meet some of the women whose blogs I’ve been reading and who I’ve gotten to know online.

  18. Carole Hill says:

I would love to see all the vendors, and what they are offering, and hear some stories about how they got into making fabrics. After going through the venders once I would go back and see which fabrics I would be interested in. Visit and take it all in!

  19. Debbie says:

Not much of a chance I’ll ever get to market, but if I did, I’d be cruising the booths starstruck for all my favorite famous quilters and quilting businesses! Christa one of them, of course!

I’d love to meet you! Then I’d wander around and look at all of the wonderful new fabrics, patterns, and tools. Thanks for your great blog and wonderful information.

  21. Veronika says:

I would ogle every single quilt there, and then go look at all the fabric on my wish list to see it in person in hopes of narrowing it down…except then I probably would only find MORE fabric to fall in love with and my wish list would get substantially larger! Have so much fun!!

  22. diane beavers says:

Windham Fabrics newest designer, Kim Andersson and her Tidal Lace collection.
Robert Kaufman designer Jennifer Sampou, and all of her recent collections (Shimmer ) and previous. I’d also love to meet many bloggers, such as “Sew Mama Sew”, Noodlehead, Crazy Mom Quilts and many more:)

  23. Nancy Lee says:

It would be overwhelming. I would love to meet some of my favorite bloggers, but I am sure I would end up totally tongue tied.
