I’m headed off to the trade show, the International Quilt Market in Houston, Texas. Jason and I have a strategy for the show – he will be the planner, setting up appointments to meet with our vendors, organizing our budget for new precuts, and making sure we both eat and rest well.
It’s fun to meet up with “Sew”-lebrities at Quilt Market!
I’ll get to do the “fun” stuff – rub shoulders with quilting celebrities, meet up with online friends, and attend presentations from some of the top designers in the industry. Jason told me he’s perfectly happy to stay out of the limelight while attending to business, so together we’ll make a great team!
I’m sure I’ll pick up a bunch of freebies while I’m there, so I thought for this week’s giveaway, I’ll offer up a mystery bag full of market SWAG!! Be sure to follow me on instagram @christaquilts starting on Friday for some sneak peeks!
To enter, just leave a comment telling me what you would want to do if you attended market, or who’s new designer lines you’d love to see!
The giveaway will remain open through Monday, Oct. 27th at midnight Pacific Time. I’ll draw a winner’s name at random sometime Tuesday morning (after I’ve recovered from the trip) and will mention it on the blog later that day.
Have a happy quilting weekend!

If I ever went to market I would take (and post) HUNDREDS of photos! That’s what everyone wants to see! I’d get off the beaten path too and take pics of booths the online community doesn’t get to see too often. I LOVE pictures of fabric in use (quilts, purses, dresses, etc.) so that I can tell the size of the prints (since I do most fabric shopping online).
Would love to go.. had hoped this year. Would have loved to go to the schoolhouses. My friend Casey had a presentation would have liked to have seen! Would love to meet people in real life! Modern meet up. And have Christa/Krista club meet up!!
I have never been to a “market” or even a quilt show or expo! They sound LIke heaven! I’d love to go. I t hink I’d love most looking at all the finished quilts and just oohhh and aaahhh over and maybe get an idea for a few quilts and to see the piles and piles of wonderful fabric!
I WOULD SPEND TOO MUCH MONEY, OF COURSE. I LOVE TO WANDER AND ENJOY PEOPLE AND THEIR PROJECTS.
I would love to go to quilt market just to see what all the excitement is about. Have a great time.
That would be fun….to go to market. I would look around for all the great blogger of quilting blogs and meet them in person!! It would be fun just to see all the new ideas, products, quilts, etc. Love your blog.
Would love to have gone to the sample night.
I would love to go to market sometime and see all the new products out there! I would visit Laundry Basket Quilts and Judy Niemeyers booths!
It all looks like fun! Have a great time!
I would love to meet some of the designers! Thank you and have fun!
Meeting the designers and quilt sewlebrities would be my favorite part. I’d probably be one of those stalker fans who don’t talk but do stare as I lose my ability to talk when I meet someone I’m in awe of.
After looking for you to meet you, I would love to see the Cotton & Steel designers and Camille Roskelley. Then I would wander, fondle and drool through the whole show! Seeing the show quilts would be a big highlight. I am in awe of the women who do quilts just for shows.
I would plan to enjoy it all.
I would go just to drool over all the new fabric collections!
I would try to keep my mouth closed–because I know that I would be awe of everything so I wouldn’t want to be seen walking around with my mouth agape!
I would love to go and just take it all in!
I would love to see all the new fabric and meet the faces behind the beautiful new designs. Getting the ‘swag’ would be a bonus!!!!
I would swoon over all the fabric and take selfies of me and the big fabric and pattern designers like you! Have a great time at market, take lots of pictures! Thanks for the give away! jacklynnsteven at netzero dot com
This would also be such fun. I would love to attend the presentations, get free stuff, and see what will new for next year.
I would like to see all of the new fabrics! I am so excited for the post-market reveals.
Wow. Please take lots of pictures and share!!!!
Seriously have a ton of fun while you are there – fabric, patterns, I want to see it all!!!! mumbird3atgmail.com
If I attended market, I would be star=struck. I hope I would get over that in time to see everything there and just soak up the inspiration.
I just want to see (and probably pet) all the new fabrics! Have fun. 🙂
I would love to tour the floor, seeing all the new fabrics and patterns which are offered! Serious eye candy!
I would love to see all of the new ideas, patterns and colors showing up. I would really like to see any new fabrics/patterns by Tula Pink, Jennifer Paganelli, and Gerri Robinson. It would be so wonderful to get to see it all! I hope you have a great time, Christa!
I would just want to BE there. To soak up all of the eye candy and be inspired.
Just to be there with all that Eye Candy would be the best. Thanks for going for us and bringing it back via your posts.
I would just be happy to be there and to try to take it all in! I think it would be quite overwhelming but I would do my best to get round everything! Have a good time!
Like many of the others who have commented, I’d love to meet some of my favourite bloggers and then just soak up the inspiration all around!
You make a great team! I think I’d want to be doing what you are doing. There are so many new fabric lines that I am totally unaware of, that I’d enjoy going from booth to booth ‘exploring’ until I was too tired to stay on my feet!
I would love to meet Katy Jones and see her new line Priory Square. Next I would check out the other AGF booths.
I would love to see anything and everything! As for fabric, I love to see anything new by Laundry Basket quilts, and I’d love to meet the bloggers I follow, including you! Thanks for the fun!
I would love to see priory square fabric line and any new patterns.
I’d love to meet the lovely ladies of Bonnie & Camille. It would also be fun to meet Katy Jones.
I would definitely want to attend the Sample Spree that they have every year. I hear it is fabulous!
I’d love to meet many bloggers behind the blogs that I follow
I have never attended a quilt show or anything, so I don’t even know what to say, except that I would like to meet some of the women whose blogs I’ve been reading and who I’ve gotten to know online.
I’d love to see the next season of cotton +steel fabric and chat to the designers!
I would love to see all the vendors, and what they are offering, and hear some stories about how they got into making fabrics. After going through the venders once I would go back and see which fabrics I would be interested in. Visit and take it all in!
Would love to see the new line, Handcrafted, by Alison Glass.
I’d love to see Tula’s new Elizabeth range. Can’t decide if I love it or not from the online pics!
Not much of a chance I’ll ever get to market, but if I did, I’d be cruising the booths starstruck for all my favorite famous quilters and quilting businesses! Christa one of them, of course!
I’d love to meet you! Then I’d wander around and look at all of the wonderful new fabrics, patterns, and tools. Thanks for your great blog and wonderful information.
I would love to meet the people behind the blogs that I follow
I would ogle every single quilt there, and then go look at all the fabric on my wish list to see it in person in hopes of narrowing it down…except then I probably would only find MORE fabric to fall in love with and my wish list would get substantially larger! Have so much fun!!
Windham Fabrics newest designer, Kim Andersson and her Tidal Lace collection.
Robert Kaufman designer Jennifer Sampou, and all of her recent collections (Shimmer ) and previous. I’d also love to meet many bloggers, such as “Sew Mama Sew”, Noodlehead, Crazy Mom Quilts and many more:)
I would love to meet some of my favorite bloggers, and of course visit booths like Moda!
It would be overwhelming. I would love to meet some of my favorite bloggers, but I am sure I would end up totally tongue tied.
