Although I’m not going to spoil tomorrow’s surprise, the designer of block #50 is Joanna Figueroa of Figtree Quilts. I’ve seen the block, and let me tell you – it is Splendid!!
My Splendid Block
You may recall my block, Scrappy Happy Heart, below, which was released back in May. Click here to learn more about my block! It’s been exciting watching so many people making my paper pieced block design and sharing their work. The biggest comment I’ve seen on Instagram (#scrappyhappyheart) and in the Splendid Sampler Facebook group is that my block is the perfect block for those who have never paper-pieced before and want to try out an easy block. That warms my heart!!

I’ve participated in a locally designed BOM though my local quilt shop. I loved being challenged to step out of my comfort zone with respect to color and design! Thanks for the opportunity to win the book!
I’ve never done a BOM. This is my first QAL but definitely won’t be my last. 😀
Row by Row 2015 was my first ever quilt. I’d done only clothes before that. I liked it enough to do more. This year, I signed up for the Craftsy BOM that started in January, Pat Sloan’s Secret Garden, The Splendid Sampler of course and did the Row by Row again…while working full time and still having my daughter ask for clothing items. I stayed up to date on everything until I had to do Easter dresses. I love having a block or two at a time. It’s not overwhelming. As for the Splendid Sampler, I love learning new techniques! It has been a fun way to learn on small blocks so I can do them more than once if needed. I’ve also been working on fmq which I used on the row x row this year. I need practice, but I love it. This book would be wonderful to have!
Yes I have participated in many many BOM’s over the years! I love them because you have time to finish a block before the next one arrives … too Fun! 🙂 …. the Splendid Sampler is the Best!!! … that book looks FANTASTIC!!! …
Sampler quilts are my favorites to make. They are always interesting and you usually learn some new techniques. I have participated in several block of the week/month programs form Barbara Brackman, and I am doing a couple quilt alongs right now. I really wanted to do the Splendid Sampler, but my UFO’s are out of control so I am concentrating on finishing those. That book looks great for new quilting techniques, I would love to win it, thank you!

I’m currently doing 5 BOMs and have done numerous BOMs in the past. To me each block is like waiting to open a present. And once it’s available, I immediately save it, print it, check out the design, and look for any challenges and/or new techniques it may have. Love ’em!
This is my first BOM I have participated in as it was going on. I look forward to each new block and the stories behind the creating of them.
I haven’t ever participated in one, but am excited to try once the SS is complete!!
Yes, I am currently completing the setting for the 2015 BOM from the Fat Quarter Shop and have received the first two blocks for the 2016 one. What I really enjoy about them is most of the blocks have challenged my piecing skills! I would never have attempted such complicated patterns on my own. Also, I am not skilled in putting fabrics together. This way, all the selections have been made for me and I am assured of a beautiful quilt when completed.
I currently am finishing up two BOMs from last year, I have two from a LQS that are at the stage where the blocks are done but I can’t decide on setting. I ran a Block of the week at an on-line group I belonged two as well as designed and ran a row of the month program for a while. Guess I like them a lot! 🙂 I haven’t started any of the Splendid Sampler blocks yet, but I have been printing them out to work on “someday.”
I am currently participating in a newbie quilter group that completes a block of the month for the “queen bee”. I am enjoying the fun of trying new patterns, new color combinations that I might not have tried. It is fun to see what you can do each month.
I have downloaded BOMs before but never completed one. I enjoy increasing my block inventory.
I have participated a block of the month. Loved it. It kept me motivated from month to month and excited to work on the next block.
I have done a couple of Mystery quilts, a new block every month which were fun. Loved seeing the quilt being revealed. I’ve also designed a Mystery quilt project for my craft group. Just as much fun listening to the girls guessing what the quilt will look like at the end. Love the look of that book!
My first one would be Pat’s Secret Garden. Has been interesting & fun.
This is so new to me. I love quilting but all this block are a Wonderful challenge. Lovin every block as every one is doing them and seeing the beautiful work. I have a hard time seeing the material colors on my finished block before I begin, so that is something I hope to get better with …
This is my first quilt along and I am learning so much. Thank you!
My very first BOM was the TQS Stars for a New Day. I loved it for several reasons. First, I was able to complete a very complex quilt which would have otherwise intimidated me. I also learned many new valuable techniques. Lastly, and most importantly, there was the encouragement, support and inspiration of a few close quilter friends and hundreds of other quilters around the world who were concurrently working on the same BOM. My friends kept me going and I think I did the same for them.
No, this is the first sampler I have participated in, having lots of fun. Loved your block!
I participated in a BOM with my quilting bee. I enjoyed having something to look forward to and seeing what everyone else did.
I did an applique block of the month that I still need to finish. I am on my third Pat Sloan mystery. Those are fun because you share what you do with so many other quilters. The Splendid Sampler is improving all of my skills. Thank you for the chance to win this book; I want to improve my quilting as well.
I once did a crazy quilt block of the month on the internet and loved the way it cam out. I love working with embellishments.
I signed up for an applique BOM back in 2009. There are 25 blocks – and I’m on #22! I knew I wouldn’t keep to the schedule since I was working at the time. But it is great to have everything I need for each block all organized for me! Love your paper-pieced heart block – it’s one of my favorites for sure!
I am participating in the splendid sampler and I am really enjoying all the various techniques. I look forward to Thursdays and Sundays even more now.
The closest I have ever come to this project is to do 2 of Bonny Hunter’s mystery quilts. They were a lot of fun and stretched my OCD tendencies with scrappiness. This project is truly splendid because I am rediscovering my love of embroydery and learning applique! Woo hoo!!!
I participate a few times with my guild and another Time with 30 blocks all by hand. I lové that because I can learn new techniques
I have done a block of the month sampler quilt. I quite enjoyed the different blocks and the putting the quilts together. I have done several mystery quilts and quite like doing the block without knowing what the end result will be.
I have participated in a local block of the month Through a quilt shop. I enjoyed it and would be interested in an online version, especially modern blocks. I love your machine quilting with style book. Thank you.
I did a BOM with Carol Doak. It was paper pieced and lots of fun choosing fabrics to represent the month. I gifted it to my son.
I have participated in several blocks of the month at a local quilt shop but not on-line. I did quite well for those programs where you had to bring in a finished block to get the next block directions free. I figure that is a result of my grandmother’s thriftiness nature. Without that incentive things tend to slip.
I’ve done several block of the month quilts of various kinds. I’ve also done some round robin quilts with a group of friends. Those are my favorites because they remind me of my friends.
This is my first quilt along, I’m enjoying it when I get the chance to do some.

I’m having a BLAST with the Splendid Sampler Project.
I’m also working on my first Block of the Month in my Guild. We’re making 12″ finished blocks, so you can imagine the difference in scope between the two projects! I’m looking forward to everyone’s finished BOM quilts. I’m anxious to see the fabrics the others have chosen.
I love doing BOM and other one section at a time quilts. They are fun, you don’t have the pressure of doing a whole quilt but you end up with one.
One of the shops here used to have a mystery quilt based on a book. Read a section of the book, then have a part of the quilt that is based on that section of the book.

I have done several block of the month quilts at local quilt shops. I liked them because it was a social time with other quilters and show and tell was always interesting… even if everyone was using the same fabrics, placement made each block unique.
I have gazed upon many splendid sampler blocks, yours are the most spectacular one so. Those colors are perfectly placed.
I have participated in sampler BOM’s at my local quilt shop. I like learning! I am learning in the Splendid Sampler–especially on the small size 6″ blocks!

I have done several…my all time fav was done with little 3″ wool blocks that turned out to be so adorable! Love your pieced heart block, and thanks for the time you all are spending on this! The quilting design book will be great to use in quilting the Splendid Sampler.

I have participated in several block every other week and loved that the blocks were finished 12″
I love BOM quilts and have made several. In fact, there is one hanging on the wall above my head right now. Have made probably 4-5, though, some are not quilted yet. Love your books and would love a chance to win!!
I have done block of the months. I love to receive the package with the fabric for that month’s block. It is like a present for myself. It also keeps me motivated to complete that month’s block knowing that another one is coming.
