I’m always excited to tell you when my quilting friends are doing cool things! Did you hear about the new online club being run by My Girlfriend’s Quilt Shoppe? They contacted me about offering a giveaway for this fun club to one of you – so read to the end for details!
But first, I have to tell you a little bit more about them. The shop is owned by talented friend Kris Thurgood. (Many of you also know her twin sister Kim of Kimberbell designs). Well, I first got to know both Kim and Kris over several years at quilt market and we had an instant connection. I love supporting women in business and especially love meeting powerhouse entrepreneurs that are go-getters in the quilting community.
Some of my quilts on display at My Girlfriend’s Quilt Shoppe in 2017
A couple of years ago, Kris invited me out to teach at her shop in Utah and I had the most amazing time!! Of course the students were fabulous and the location was amazing! But even better was assistance I received while teaching. Just a month prior I had dislocated my elbow by trying to be a little too ambitious at the climbing gym (that’s another story for another day). To make a long story short, I ended up teaching one handed and everyone was so fabulous to help me pitch in and fold up my quilts for me and drive me around where I needed to go.
If you’d like to see a fun little blast from the past, check out these two videos that Kim and her staff shared about my visit from 2017. It’s a sneak peek into what it’s like to take a class from me:
Over the years, My Girlfriend Quilt Shop has carried a few of my books and patterns in their shop. But the best news is, I just found out that they are getting my Gridwork fabric line in next month. So if you are local to the area – be on the lookout for that!
Be on the lookout for my Gridwork fabric coming soon to My Girlfriend’s Quilt Shoppe!
Anyway, all of this is to say that Kris and her staff are one of the reasons that I love being a part of this industry – we help each other out while inspiring our fans and customers to be the best quilters they can be!!
So now – onto the giveaway!!
My Girlfriend’s Quilt Shoppe is going to give away a membership to their exclusive club to one of you. All you need to do to enter is answer this question in the comments section of THIS blog post. Which of these topics is your favorite to explore: piecing, quilting, serging, machine embroidery, longarm quilting, software, wool, or hand embroidery?
The club will encompass all of those topics and more. Click here to read full details about what’s included with your membership.
My Girlfriends have also included a courtesy membership for me so I can be a part of the club, too! I think it’s going to be such a fun place to be and hope you’ll consider joining, even if you don’t win the giveaway!
I’ll pick a winner on Monday morning January 27, and will notify the winner via email. So good luck and happy quilting!!
My Girlfriend’s Quilt Shoppe in Logan, Utah – January 2017
I’d love more quilting ideas, perhaps utilizing my embroidery machine.
I purchased a long arm in the last year, so my “obsession” right now is to learn all I can about it.
I enjoy combining hand embroidery with pieced blocks. Always looking for new ideas.
What a great giveaway. I can’t say what my favorite part is, it’s different for each piece. The whole process just makes me happy.
I love the planning and piecing part of quilting.
My favorite topic to explore is free motion and walking foot quilting. Thank you!
of the topics you have, piecing is my jam. I have somewhat of a bucket list of quilts that I want to make – so far have done a bargello and a large paper pieced project. Currently I am working on a one block wonder using some Hawaiian fabric I bought last year.
My favorites are piecing and quilting. I really love freemotion quilting, but still have to learn a lot.
I LOVE every part of quilting, picking the pattern, the fabrics, putting it together, machine quilting, and even binding. It all makes me happy!
I enjoy it all, but if I had to choose it would be sitting and hand sewing binding. It means the quilt is just about doen, and almost ready to give away. I’m trying to keep more for myself this year.
I love right next door to My Girlfriend’s Quilt Shop—it’d be great to take some classes there on how to design your own pattern (quilt math shortcuts, color theory, piecing shortcuts like strip piecing, etc.)!
I would say quilting. I have lots of tops done. I have used your quilting techniques on baby quilts, next I’m going to attempt lapsize., but…..
My favorite part of quilting is piecing the quilt top. I love watching the design come together.
Software! Quilt layouts and embroidery design software would be most interesting to me
Since I’m still new to quilting, it would have to be piecing. However, because I’m still new at it, I soak up all information and hope to expand my abilities with all of the other topics!
I love piecing and learning new techniques! But I also love machine embroidery.
I love both piecing and quilting, especially when designing both so they complement each other.
I love quilting but I need to improve!
I would like to know more about machine embroidery and quilting using my sewing machine.
Hi Christa Just saw your quilts from 2017 at *My Girlfriend’s Quilt Shoppe. *What a nice display! I was wondering if you have a picture or a pattern of the one that has a black background and strips of blue on one corner and then strips of red/yellow in the other corner. So many I like are hidden in the back row and impossible to appreciate. Jo-Ann
That one is called Color Crystals from my book Machine Quilting with Style
I love piecing and machine embroidery.
Bold shapes and colors in fabric medleys placed/pieced so not to overpower each other? Then how to effectively quilt so complements design? 😐
I am a beginner at machine embroidery and would love to advance my skills.
I would love to learn more about free motion quilting on my home machine. I would love to make a wood grain pattern on a quilt for my husband!
My favorite topic to explore is quilting followed by piecing.
Although I have owned Bernina machines for years, all of which can do machine embroidery, I have never felt confident when attempting a project. Like everything else, I think practice makes perfect and there just isn’t enough time in the day to do it all. So definitely for me, learning more about machine embroidery would make me very happy.
I would like to learn more about machine embroidery. I have a couple older model Berninas that will do it, but not enough knowledge or time to learn. Thank you for this chance to win.
I am interested in more piecing and quilting ideas. Thanks for the chance to win.
I must really enjoy piecing because that’s what I keep doing, but I really want to get into machine quilting. Just not brave or patient enough. Your fabric line is beautiful!
Quilting is what I need to learn the most about.
I have been more interested in wool lately. Love your new fabric line!
I mostly focus on piecing and machine quilting, but I also would be interested in hand embroidery.
I love the Piecing part of quilting but I am trying to stretch my wings and do more machine quilting with a sit down longarm. Best part is when the quilt is bound and finished.
Domestic machine quilting has become my main focus for improvement while piecing is my true love.
I enjoy every phase of quilting, from picking the pattern, choosing the fabrics, putting it together, sandwiching, machine quilting, and even binding. It all makes me happy!
I’d like to learn more about quilting on my sewing machine. Am also becoming curious about working with wool.
I enjoy both piecing and machine quilting, especially since I got my Q20!
Definitely quilting. We have all the instructions and list of what we need to finish a project but I have a dozen UFO’s that reveals my mental block how to finish them. So thankful Christa that you include that in your patterns.
I am interested in all of these topics but piecing is my favorite.
I’m very new to longarm quilting so right now that is my topic of choice. As with many others all of the topics hold appeal. Thanks
I am working on being more accurate with my piecing.
i love all those topics but quilting would be my pick! Love all the creative energy from all of you!
At this moment I really love the quilting part the most. I am reading and watching a lot about longarm-quilting lately. Who knows what the future will brings🤗
At the moment it would be hand embroidery.
Machine embroidery is favorite. I have so many ideas and see a lot of inspiration as I search the web.
I also like My Girlfriends Quilt Shop when I travel to that area.
anything Christa has to teach, i would like to learn!!! but i’m most interested in quilting
This sounds like SO much fun! I would love to learn more about free motion quilting. It is my dream to totally finish my own quilts.
Sounds fun
Machine or hand embroidery since I know less about them, then serging and software 🙂
My favorite is piecing!
I love, Love, LOVE machine quilting on my longarm. That is almost better than piecing👍👍.
Would love to hone my machine quilting skills AND do more handwork on wool.
