It’s time to baste your Modern Logs quilt – are you excited?? I’ve developed my spray basting method using a design wall and it cuts the basting time in half!! I made a YouTube video below explaining the entire process. Hit play to watch and let me know if you have any questions!

I have been using your method these past couple of years and it does make it so much easier for me since I live in a 700 square foot apt. But why does it look slightly wrinkled on the back? I had pin basted for over 25 year using a large table at my LQS and my backing looked smooth. But I press both front and back and there are no wrinkles. Is it because the backing is stuck to the batting that it looks so “Bumpy”? Just wanted to make sure I am doing it correctly.
it could be depending on the type of batting or basting spray used. However, in most cases it should quilt out. I would also hit the area again with a hot dry iron 🙂 Christa Watson Instagram @christaquilts website/blog: ChristaQuilts.com
I don’t have a wall so put my layers together on a table. Obviously having the quilt and backing hanging means that seams should be vertical and seams square. I use a 24″ ruler to smooth out layers easily. and to make sure my seams are straight. Latest quilt is on diagonal so I also used the ruler to make sure corresponding points were in line.
