Sew and Tell and Giveaway Winners!

I quilted all weekend on my Charming Chevrons quilt and am really pleased with the progress so far. It was pure bliss to sew for hours on end while my hubby entertained the kiddos with movies and games. But more about that later. Here’s a sneak peek, and I’ll post more pictures on this week’s Do-It-Yourself Quilt Along.

Christa's Charming Chevrons

Diana, AKA Quilting Grandma sent me a picture of her version of Charming Chevrons, made from Berenstain Bears Charm Packs. Aren’t the colors just wonderful?? I love how she added the extra borders, and her choice of solid green for the background is just awesome!

And I couldn’t resist sharing this picture of Martha from Illinois, modeling her Machingers Quilting Gloves on her new Tiara machine. I have to say I’m a little bit jealous of all that quilting space under the machine!

Quilting with Machingers

That got me to thinking, wouldn’t it be fun to win some of my favorite gadgets and quilting tools I talk about? Since I just reviewed Machingers Gloves last week, I’m going to give two lucky readers each a pair of gloves to try out.

It’s easy to enter, simply post a comment (any comment) and you’ll be entered to win. I’ll randomly select 2 winners and post their names here on the blog. I’ll also notify them via email. Contest ends this Friday, November 30th at 9PM Pacific Time (Midnight Eastern).

Good luck!

Thank you all for participating. This was a fun contest to run and all of the comments were much appreciated! We now have our winners!

The first winner, drawn at random is:

Judith:

Right now, I’m using a pair of slightly textured gardening gloves. The disadvantage is that they’re fairly bulky and not particularly grippy. The advantage is that I can blame any quilting gaffes on the gloves ;-) Thanks for the great giveaway opportunity.

The second winner, also drawn at random is

Evelyn H:

I haven’t done your Chevron quilt, but I made the Jolly Jelly Roll. I love that pattern. I would love a pair of the quilting gloves, which are on my Christmas wish list! Thanks for doing this and for your fun tutorials.

Congratulations, ladies! I will be emailing you shortly with your winning prize!

This quilt is on my “bucket list”, but I’m thinking I would be doing it out of layer cakes and make a quilt for our bed out of it. I love how it looks super easy to do! I can’t wait to see your finished quilt. I love you how you are quilting it! Thanks for sharing!

I really like the look of the lines you are quilting in the Chevron spaces. Hope you get done in time to enter the QuiltCon. I’m still working on quilting the baby bricks quilt; got sidetracked making a few gifts. Hope to finish that and then do a Chevron. I enjoy following your tutorials. Like one of the other commenters I have used nubby garden gloves when quilting, but the gloves you have that are designed for quilting sound very interesting.

I am inspired by your machine quilting (on a regular machine) I guess I need to practice more. 🙂 And you have been so good about blogging your progress. I have done a lot this year but haven’t posted on my blog. I guess I better get that caught up before it’s next year. 🙂
Thanks for the give away. Lynn

I really like the way you are quilting your chevron quilt! When you get it finished, will you please give us a good look at all the quilting designs you quilt on it? If you happen to pull my name for your generous giveaway, please pull another name – I only quilt on my longarm!

Yes! I will show more pictures of the quilting during this week’s quilt along. I’ll talk about the straight quilting this week and then the pebbles next week 🙂 I’m getting ahead so I can get the quilt done in time to enter in a show.

I have never used quilting gloves but after reading your review I am going to try them. I am also going to research that tiara.

I wish I could quilt as well as you…is it those magic gloves? Love your blog and following along with you as you make your quilts!

I love the quilt and the colors. After having bulging disks and the pain that went with it, I am trying to get back into the sewing room. I am so far behind right now. Yikes! I hope I get caught up ………

    Christa,

How many hours did you work on Sat? I love the ‘pepple’ quilting in the colored charm blocks. Awesome contrast to the linear on the background. I’m finding my quilting projects quite slow right now …..I broke my wrist and possibly tore the tendons. I’ll know the extent of the damage tomorrow!

    Your work is inspiring!!

I really like how you quilted the lines on your quilt. I have a Bernina to sew with but don’t think I have the patience or accuracy like you do. And I already have a pair of those white gloves and you are right they are great to use for quilting.

I need to go downstairs, get off this computer and sew up a quilt for a Christmas gift. It is much more fun to see what you’re doing tough!!

I really like the Chevron Quilt. It turned out nice. That would be a great one to give away for someone in NY who lost everything from Sandy. The gloves look to be real handy and useful and warm.

I love how your quilted lines look on the chevrons. I may have to try that! Thanks for the opportunity to win the gloves. They will definately be on my Christmas List if I don’t win!

Just found your website today through the “In Color Order” blog and love that you don’t charge for shipping! I’ve always done in-the-ditch quilting because I’m too afraid to try free motion. Maybe the gloves would help?! Thank you.
