I just found out two very exciting pieces of news today, and forgive me if I can’t help but put them out there for all the world to see!
Excitement #1 – Colorful Chevrons Takes 3rd at Paducah!
Thanks to my friend Linda H. for sending me this phone pic. She just happens to be there covering the story for AQ magazine and was able to show me the good news. The funny thing is, I couldn’t remember when QuiltWeek started and had my dates confused. I was thinking I wouldn’t hear anything about it until at least next week!
Colorful Chevrons won 3rd place in the Large Wall Quilts – Modern category.

Excitement #2 – I’ve Been Nominated for Teacher of the Year!
I’ve been nominated for 2014 Teacher of The Year, presented by the International Association of Creative Arts Professionals. Although I didn’t win, I’m in total agreement with who was chosen. In fact, after reading the email announcing the 8 nominees and the winner, I’m completely awed and humbled to be among those who made the final list.
No, I’m not going to spill the beans and spoil any surprises yet. The winner and all of the finalists will be given coverage in the Spring Issue of The Professional Quilter, and it will be up to any of them if they want to announce it publicly first. ๐
My cup truly runneth over….
Congrats!…I saw your quilt this week.
Margaret
So happy for you, what a double honor.
That is the #1 one show on my bucket list for sure! Now that I live in the East, it is going to happen, next year I hope. I am SO HAPPY for you! That is such a perky quilt, and clearly does what it is meant to do: grab people’s attention and make them smile!
I saw your quilt in Paducah. It was so neat to see it in person. Congrats on the ribbon.
Thanks! How fun that you got to attend!
Good things come to great people. Congrats!
Congratulations on your win, Christa!! You absolutely deserve it! I haven’t been to a class of yours, but I consider your blog to be a teacher for me and you being nominated is totally deserved and appropriate! What a wonderful validation of your profession as a quilter and teacher!! So excited for you!
Congratulations Christa!!! What an accomplishment!!!! Awesome news!!!
Congrats on both of your accomplishments! Your quilt is simply stunning and I am not surprised it won ๐
both the ribbon and nomination are well-deserved, congrats!
Congratulations!!
Christa- YOU ARE AWESOME!! I have been following your blog for a smidge over a year. I actually think you were my very first quilt blog ever. Through your blog I got so much encouragement and coaching. Even though I never did one if your quilt-a-longs I got so much more info from you. Even yesterday when I was quilting a my 91yr old Grandmother’s quilt on my domestic machine I was thinking that if it wasn’t for some of you step by step instructions I might never have had the confidence to tackle something like this. You have been a great instructor through your blog, because we can feel your passion for this. THANK YOU!!
We saw your quilt today in Paducah! Wowie Wow Wow! It looks fantastic!
